Chapter 206: Chapter 206: An Unexpected Turn

Slash—

The silver light shot out and struck the disk head-on.

A thin silver line tore across the sky, its ends stretching farther and farther until it spanned the entire heavens.

The line began right at the disk, slicing it clean in half. With a sharp cracking sound, the disk started to break apart.

Shockwaves.

Every living thing in the world felt the impact. It didn’t come from the ground, but from the air itself—like some ancient law had been shattered, setting off a chain reaction through all of creation.

Crack!

Another sharp sound. The disk shattered completely, turning into dust.

The white line that split the sky faded too, transforming into a green lotus platform that appeared in the eyes of every living being.

Doujin Artist: Wh-what move was that?!

Machete Girl: That green lotus... it’s so beautiful.

Amegakure Village’s Angel: A green lotus! Is that the god-tier manual Anzen got earlier?

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: I think it was called Blue Lotus Sword Song.

This is an Actor: Yeah, but he’s still not using it perfectly.

Doujin Artist: Not using it perfectly?! He just split the sky open! If that’s not perfect, what happens when he masters it? One swing and the whole world blows up?

This is an Actor: When he truly masters it, he can destroy three thousand worlds with one strike.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Three thousand worlds...

Machete Girl: Sorry, I just can’t imagine that kind of scene.

Curly-haired Guy: Guess you hit the limits of your knowledge, huh?

Doujin Artist: Do you even have any area that’s not a blind spot?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: Well, when it comes to driving, at least Gin-san’s an expert. He’s like a master in that field.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Hahaha, that’s true!

Lin Fengjiao: When you all say ”driving” here, you mean something else, don’t you?

Pretty Boy from Skull Island: To put it simply, it’s about doing some shady stuff. In our group, Curly White and Sawamura Spencer Eriri are the best at it.

Doujin Artist: Shut up! I’ve retired already!

Curly-haired Guy: What the hell is ”Curly White”? Can’t you just call me by my real name, you idiot?

Pretty Boy from Skull Island: I’ve got a bad memory, don’t really remember your name.

Curly-haired Guy: You’re kidding me! You can remember Eriri-chan’s whole long name, but you can’t remember mine, Gin-san? You’re doing this on purpose, right?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: He definitely is. But hey, you’re the one not calling people by their proper names.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Gin-san totally deserves it.

Curly-haired Guy: Damn it, you guys are starting again?

Scarlet Lotus Fairy: Stop fighting and watch the stream. That monk looks like he’s questioning his life right now.

Inside the livestream window.

The monk’s cloudy eyes were fixed on the sky, that dried-up face full of disbelief. ”No, this can’t be! Even the eternal cycle of reincarnation...”

”Nothing is eternal except spirit and thought.” Before he could finish, Anzen appeared out of nowhere. ”You never understood that, so you’re just a fake god after all.” He raised his hand and swung his sword.

The monk’s eyes hardened. Of course, he wouldn’t just sit there and wait to die. Golden light burst out around him, and a huge golden Buddha shadow appeared behind him, towering to the heavens.

It was the golden body formed from the will and prayers of all beings. He was the only Buddha in this world, supreme above all!

But—

That Buddha shadow was like paper in front of Anzen. His sword slash cut it in half with ease.

At the same time, a dark shadow appeared behind Anzen, sitting on a throne. Its blood-red eyes radiated a chilling killing intent, staring at the monk.

”This is...” The monk’s eyes widened in fear. ”A demon... You’re a demon from beyond this world!” He shouted, but his body began breaking apart like drifting petals.

Boom—

Thunder roared in the sky, and countless diamond-shaped cones of light fell from above.

Othinus had made her move. She had to admit, she underestimated this new magic god who didn’t follow their system. He defeated the monk so easily. If she didn’t act now, she might never get the chance.

But just as Othinus was about to attack, a black mist suddenly wrapped around her. That mist carried a terrifying, overwhelming power, even interfering with her control over the laws.

The diamond light cones in the sky instantly vanished. Othinus clenched her teeth and turned to her companion. ”Persephone! What do you think you’re doing?”

That black mist was the Cloud of the Underworld, and its source was Persephone herself. Othinus never imagined that a fellow magic god would attack her.

But Persephone ignored her. Her beautiful eyes locked on Anzen, and she said softly, ”I’ve finally found you... my dear husband.”

The chat exploded.

Skirt-Flipping Maniac: ?

Doujin Artist: Holy crap, what’s going on?

Machete Girl: Is she Anzen’s old flame?

Amegakure Village’s Angel: So I was just the new fling!

This is an Actor: If I say I don’t know her, will you believe me?

Curly-haired Guy: It’s fine, boss. You don’t need to explain this kind of thing.

Wig Guy: Exactly! You’re a top-tier guy. Old lovers showing up is normal for someone like you.

This is an Actor: ...

Soul Society’s Villain: Anzen really doesn’t know her? Then why would she say that?

This is an Actor: Maybe she sensed that my divine nature is similar to hers.

And that was true.

Anzen’s divine nature was the God of the Underworld. Persephone was the Queen of the Underworld. Different systems, but very similar in nature.

The day Anzen appeared in Academy City and revealed his divine status to the world, Persephone noticed.

Unlike other magic gods who were detached and emotionless, Persephone still had some human feelings left. Especially her obsession with marrying a king of the underworld.

But even with that obsession, as a magic god she would never settle. To be her king, you’d at least need to have the rank of a god of the underworld.

Sadly, even after thousands of years she never found a suitable person. Not until Anzen appeared.

No need for feelings, not even a name. Just one glance was enough for Persephone to decide—this boy would be her Hades.
