THE GOD EATER

Tepid Scholar successfully won the avatar of the Formation Pathway, his avatar, with 9,000 years of divine crystals and 1,000 units of celestial gold.

’It seems this old man is running out of money. He couldn’t even round it up to 10,000 years of divine crystals anymore. Not bad. Not bad at all,’ Loki thought to himself as he counted his money.

Heavenly Eye won the avatar of the Deceit Pathway with 10,000 years of divine crystals and 1,000 units of celestial gold. This made Loki click his tongue in amazement at her stable wealth.

’Then again, she hasn’t spent as much as Tepid Scholar. So far, Tepid Scholar has spent 34,000 years of divine crystals, while she has only spent 30,000 years of divine crystals, so it is reasonable that Tepid Scholar is running out first.’

With the auction continuing, Martial Will won the avatar of the Transformation Pathway with 5,000 years of divine crystals and 700 units of celestial gold, while Sword Maestro won the avatar of the Killing Pathway with 5,000 years of divine crystals and 1,000 units of celestial gold.

As Loki sent them the avatars they purchased, he counted how much he had won so far in his mind. By the end, he calculated that he had earned 85,500 years of divine crystals and 10,100 units of celestial gold.

So he was still grinning when his avatar returned to the divine constellation to face his peers again. But not everyone was in the mood to grin like he was.

Martial Will, never one to hide his thoughts, stared at Loki as he said, ”I didn’t like this. I didn’t like it at all.”

”I’m out of divine crystals now. I need to get more divine crystals as soon as possible to keep my Supreme Metacs burning. What a hassle.”

”I even had to borrow some more to pay you, so I’m in debt too. And this is all your fault,” the Dao Lord of the Martial Body Sect said as he pointed at Loki.

Before Loki could speak up to defend himself, Heavenly Eye snorted and said, ”Speak for yourself. Not only did I not lose any pathways, but I also gained two pathways. What’s not to like?”

Then her white eagle said to Loki, ”That was a nice scheme. Act clumsy to get us to lower our guard. Then lure us into a place where you have the advantage and rape us. Very well done.”

The black eagle nodded and said, ”Indeed. I like schemes like that. If you have more schemes like that, please don’t hesitate to call on me. I’m sure we can work together.”

To prove her point, she pointed at Tepid Scholar and said, ”Just look at him. We worked together to divide and conquer the avatars you were selling.”

”Look at how well it worked for us. We can have this kind of success too if we work together.”

Upon hearing this boast, Tepid Scholar’s face fell, and he said, ”I thought you said you would keep the matter a secret.”

”Oh, grow up,” the black eagle rolled its eyes and said in admonishment. ”Of course I lied. I always lie. You should know that by now.”

Meanwhile, Martial Will’s eyes were blazing with anger. Fortunately, he was no longer angry at Loki.

His anger was directed at Heavenly Eye and Tepid Scholar as he said, ”I knew something was wrong with the way you two were winning those avatars. You cheated. You’re cheaters.”

It was Tepid Scholar’s turn to roll his eyes and say, ”Oh, grow up, you pauper. You didn’t stand a chance anyway.”

”Anyway, I still have a third request,” Loki interrupted them to say.

”Haven’t we given you enough?” Harem King asked in anger. ”And why didn’t you sell me my avatar?”

”What if we refuse to play along with your demands?” Black Chain also asked in anger.

Loki could only sigh and say to Harem King, ”So far, the only thing that all of you have given me is the information on how to advance. You didn’t give me your avatars. I took them by force.”

”Not only did I take those avatars, but I also returned them to all of you. As for your avatar in particular, I had to kill it to show these people that I meant business, so it was collateral damage.”

”You are a great and powerful Dao Lord, so you have to get over it. You can’t keep harping on about the loss of one avatar. It is beneath you.”

Then he said to Black Chain, ”You’ve already seen what I can do in the Sea of Worlds. That kind of thing will happen again if I don’t get what I want.”

”Do the mature thing and let me extort you. Don’t let Harem King’s avatar die for nothing, and don’t let the Blessed Heaven World suffer for your stubbornness.”

Far from mollifying him, Black Chain bristled with anger the more Loki spoke. As his anger soared within him, so did the impulse to overturn the table to teach Loki and everyone a lesson.

’I still have the Enslavement Supreme Metac, so I can use this to teach them a lesson,’ he thought in anger. ’Or I can use it to force them.’

He really wanted to leave now and refuse to release the Will of the Blessed Heaven World. Unfortunately for him, reason prevailed over his anger.

There were just too many reasons why he couldn’t throw a tantrum and overturn the table. There was his bloodthirsty son capable of enslaving him, the invaders he had to deal with, and the fact that he had already paid a lot to get here, so he would have lost too much for nothing if he gave up now.

Now that he had become weaker, it had become imperative that he find more ways to become stronger, not to throw fruitless tantrums that led nowhere. So he decided to swallow his anger.
