THE GOD EATER

In order to save their necks, many of the gambling decided to close down their shops and call it a day. So he had to keep moving from one gambling house to another.

His antics made many gambling houses shut down that day. By the time he was done, he had earned 104 million energy stones with the 800,000 energy stones that he started with.

It was only then that he called it a day and went to the information broker to acquire information about certain things that he was curious about.

He took his usual seat and said to the attendant, “I would like to know why rank 5 cultivators are so strong. I would also like to know what a natural wonder is and how to get it.”

The attendant said, “The information about why 5 cultivators are much stronger than the rank 4 beings will cost you 5 million energy stones. As for the information about natural wonders and how to get them, we don’t sell that kind of information.”

This made Loki curl his lips in disdain and say, “Do you not have it, or are you being forced not to sell it?”

The attendant chucked as they said, “It seems the honored guest is well informed about the state of the world. You are right to suspect that we have been ordered to stop sharing information about natural wonders.”

“It is not the only thing that we have been forced to stop selling. We can’t sell anything that has to do with how to advance to rank 5 or sell any information related to the power of Divine Beings.”

Loki said, “Here I thought you were just saying that as an excuse because you don’t actually have the information. It seems that the divine beings are being very thorough with their ban.”

Then he said, “So if I ask you to tell me why divine beings are so strong, am I to expect that you won’t tell me, no matter how much I offer?”

The attendant’s androgynous voice came saying, “That’s not exactly correct. It is true that we have been banned from giving you that information. But we only have to obey the order because we are not divine beings ourselves. So if you offer our boss a way to advance to rank 6, we will be willing to break that rule for you.”

This made Loki nod his head in understanding and say, “I see. Benefits above everything else.”

The androgynous voice said, “Exactly. If we can deal with the repercussions of breaking the rule, why bother with the rule at all?”

Loki was in agreement with this sentiment. But he also remembered a question that he once asked in the past about divine beings, for which he was told that the information wasn’t available.

So he said, “If I ask if divine beings have infinite energy, what will you say?”

The attendant said, “If it were any ordinary person, we would tell them that we don’t have the information. But for an extraordinary person like you, we can tell you the truth, which is that we have the information, but can’t divulge it.”

This answer made him twitch his eyes a little bit. This was because the attendant had called him an ordinary person who could be dismissed with an excuse.

Of course, this slight change in his expression wasn’t noticed by the attendant and couldn’t be noticed by anyone because it was his real face that changed, not the fake face presented by his second skin.

Right now, it appears that he took the reply well. But he still asked, saying, “And what makes me an extraordinary person?”

The androgynous voice chuckled and said, “If a rank 4 being is not extraordinary, who else can be extraordinary?”

Loki said, “Fair point. But I hope you haven’t been using this to cheat weaker cultivators that come here to buy information.”

The attendant immediately said, “We don’t do that here. We always deliver what we are paid for.”

Loki didn’t believe this at all. In fact, he was still worried that they would cheat him now because if they discriminate based on cultivation, it means that the treatment that he will enjoy now won’t be as good as what he would enjoy if he were a rank 5 cultivator.

This suspicion made him say, “I will pay now. Make sure that there is information about the mental world and the fact that the full power of their energy well is empowering them, not a percentage of it like it used to be before.”

In response, the attendant said, “You have nothing to worry about. As long as you pay the right amount, we will give you all the information we have about the topic, as long as that information is not banned.”

Since Loki didn’t have any other choice, even if he was suspicious, he paid the 1 million energy stones.

But he did promise himself, saying, “When I advance to rank 5, I will come and have a chat with their so-called boss and get to know him better. I bet I can convince the man or lady to tell me information for free.”

He sneered and said, “With enough power, their boss might even be willing to give me other things for free. Things like money for free.”

Then he began to chuckle inwardly.

Now that he knows that the boss of this establishment is a rank 5 being, not a divine being, he can’t help but have covetous thoughts about the wealth and the wealth of information that this establishment possesses.

The attendant didn’t know what he was scheming at all. They were too busy putting together the information he purchased and bringing it to him.

After he got the parcel, he broke it open to check its contents immediately. So he soon became engrossed in it.

He read that, “The foundation of the power of rank 5 beings can be split into their Mental World and their Full Energy Well. Both of them are created when a rank 4 being advances to rank 5.”
