THE GOD EATER

She didn’t argue with him on this. She said in agreement, “I know, and you’re right. Which is why I want to offer you another deal.”

This piqued his interest, so he said, “What deal is it?”

She replied, saying, “If you help me hold the city for a week, I will give you an opportunity to earn a natural wonder.”

Loki thought about her proposal for a while before saying, “Make it three.”

But she said, “I can’t do that. I can only give you an opportunity to earn the natural wonder. How much you can earn is up to you.”

He didn’t even know what a natural wonder was or how valuable it was, so he couldn’t really be sure if what she was offering was a good deal or not.

But he was sure that what she was asking him wasn’t a big deal either. He could easily hold the city for a week, and it would even help him earn grade 4 merit points, since he hadn’t earned any since that first rank 4, being that he killed before.

So he said, “Fine. I’ll hold the city. But you must send more people to take care of the riffraff. I will only act to deal with the rank 4 enemies.”

She immediately said, “Deal.”

Then she quickly spent one grade 5 merit point to buy a contract. She filled in the terms of their agreement in the contract before sending it to him.

In all her years of working as the commander of this battlefield, she has only earned 3 grade 5 merit points. Two of the three have been used to buy grade 5 contracts to secure her agreements with Loki. It can be seen just how much she is willing to invest in him.

On the other side, Loki received her contract. After skimming through it, he signed it and yawned. He yawned because he was bored.

After yawning, he said, “Where are the enemies? How far do they need me to go deep into their territory before they realize that I must be stopped? They should come quickly to dislodge me.

Ever since he fought that rank 4 transformation warrior, he hasn’t fought another rank 4 warrior. This is because most of them were situated on the front lines. So he missed them by attacking inwardly.

They haven’t been able to catch up to him, but he hopes that they will do so now that he has stopped trying to take down more cities. This is the main reason he accepted Amelia’s deal.

His original plan was to leave and scour the battlefield looking for rank 4 warriors to kill. But when he heard Amelia’s request, he knew that she wanted to use him as a shield to block the recovery of the Martial Body Sect, so he decided to go along with her plan.

As he thought of this, he said, “I hope they can come to stop me as soon as possible, or I might just sleep.”

The bad news is that no one showed up to stop him as soon as possible. The good news is that someone finally came to stop him after one hour of waiting.

He was sitting on the airship when he sensed them. He had sensed them without seeing them because the three of them had a Mind Palace.

A Mind Palace might be invisible to other cultivators, but to a Mind Hunter, a Mind Palace is like a torch in the dark. Even without looking directly at the torch, one would be able to see the rays of light that the torch casts into the world.

So he turned in their direction to confirm what he sensed. When he saw the three of them and realized that they were warriors of the Martial Body Sect, he smiled and said, “Finally.”

Then he said to the soldiers around him, “We are about to be attacked by the enemy. I’m going to deal with them. Stay alert and prepare for surprise attacks while I’m gone.”

After saying this, he took to the air in the direction of the three of them.

Of the three of them, two were giant warriors, and the last one was a transformation warrior. The transformation warrior was a kind of bird. The phantom bird was as large as a house, while the warrior herself was safe at the center of the phantom.

None of them was wearing armor, but the two giants were equipped with weapons. The giant at the head of the trip was carrying a large hammer, while the other giant was wearing large gauntlets.

The three of them approached in an imposing manner, but Loki wasn’t fazed. He even had a smile of anticipation on his face.

No words were spoken. Both sides started attacking as soon as they got within range of each other.

Loki was the first to make a move because he had a means of attack with the longest range. Two rail guns, each with two barrels, sprouted on his shoulders and began firing at the enemy.

He used the Telekinesis Core Metac and the Reversal Core Metac right from the start. So the power of his attack was 3(Dao Status) × (4(Telekinesis)+ 4(Reversal)) × (3(Mind) + 3(Mind) + 450%(Energy Well)) × (5(Life Ability) + 4(Energy Amplifier) + 4(Force Lever) + 4(Living Armament)) × (300% Overload + 450% Energy Nexus), which was 32,130 units.

But even before he could attack, the giants had already taken defensive measures. The one in the lead with the hammer fell back, while one on the side with a gauntlet took the lead.

This giant with the gauntlet activated his Life Ability, which caused his skin to harden into a shade of gold. So the giant became a giant golden statue.

So in response to the attack, the falcon veered sideways and chose to dodge. But the two giants didn’t move out of the way. The golden giant was ready to use his body to block the attack.
