THE GOD EATER

But after Skarg accepted the fact that his son had awakened a Divine Metac, came fear and anxiety. He feared that he would lose his life because of the disappearance of Slav.

His fears seemed to be confirmed when the three rank 5 cultivators came to him and flanked him like this. His heart couldn’t help but beat faster while his mind tried to reconcile with dying so early.

As he stood there ready to die, he said, “What do you plan to do to me?”

He tried to be stoic and calm, but the three rank 5 cultivators could sense the fear in his voice and demeanor. What they sensed amused them.

The old man on his right chuckled and said, “You don’t need to be worried about losing your life. We are not going to eat you.”

But Skarg didn’t believe this. He asked back with disbelief in his voice, “Do I truly have nothing to be worried about?”

The woman on his left shook her head and said, “You have a lot to worry about as long as we don’t find that Divine Metac. We all do. We may not die, but death is not out of the question for you.”

These words made Skarg smile bitterly and say, “But I truly don’t know where he is.”

The rank 5 cultivator behind him said to him, “We know that. If there was a possibility that you know where he is, we won’t be having this pleasant conversation with you.”

This made Skarg sigh in relief a little bit. Then he asked them, saying, “Then what do you want from me? I hope you don’t think that you can force him to show up by taking me hostage. I raised him better than that.”

His words made them laugh. The young man behind him snickered and said, “Of course not. We are not that stupid.”

The old man on his right shook his head and said, “Your son isn’t really the son you knew him to be. He is the reincarnation of a divine being. So, ever since he awakened, he has stopped being your son in mind.”

The lady nodded in agreement and said, “Only a divine being can awaken with a Divine Metac.”

“From what we have found out, he appears to be injured. Maybe something went wrong during his reincarnation, or maybe he was injured terribly in his last life. But he is still a divine being, and I doubt a divine being would sacrifice their life for yours just because you’re the father of this reincarnation.”

Their words enlightened Skarg to certain truths that he didn’t know before. At any other time, he would be happy to learn that divine beings reincarnate with Divine Metacs, and he would have asked more questions about the reincarnation of divine beings. But at this time, he didn’t have the mind to bother with that.

His life was still on the line, so he had more important things to deal with. This made him ask them, saying, “If you don’t want to use me as a hostage, what do you want from me?”

The old man replied, saying, “You are not his father in mind anymore. But you’re still his father in flesh and blood. This means that we can use the blood link between you two to find him.”

The woman on the other side said, “He should know this, too. He should also know that the best way to eliminate this danger is to kill you. So we are also here to protect you.”

Skarg swallowed nervously when he heard that the reincarnation of a divine being might be coming to kill him. He suddenly became glad for having these three around to protect him.

His nervous reaction caused another round of chuckles of amusement among the three of them. The young man behind him said with a smile, “Don’t worry so much.”

“Your son should be injured terribly since he didn’t reincarnate with a cultivation of the third mortal coil. So even his memories of his past life might not be complete. This makes him no different from an ordinary cultivator who got lucky and stumbled onto a Divine Metac. So if he dares to show up here, we will kill him.”

These words of assurance helped Skarg relax a little bit. He even had the leisure to say to himself, “If only I knew this before, I would have…”

As he was having this thought, he realized that he was coveting a Divine Metac. So he quickly cut off the thought from his mind.

Instead of thinking about what he would have done to acquire the Divine Metac, he decided to focus on getting these people off his back and returning to a normal way of life.

So he said to them, “What do I need to do to help you find him?”

The young man behind him replied by placing his hand over his shoulders and grinning from ear to ear as he said, “You don’t need to do anything. All we need is your blood.”

With that said, he dragged his fingers across Skarg’s back. His fingers were so sharp that they cut through the cloth that Skarg was wearing and his skin beneath the cloth.

In just a moment, blood began to flow freely from the five cuts on his back. Skarg didn’t like the feeling of having someone behind him who could easily harm him and kill him, but he didn’t dare to complain. He could only grit his teeth while the young rank 5 cultivator signaled for a rank 4 cultivator to come forward.

The rank 4 cultivator came forward and took his blood from the cut. Then he swiped the blood across a piece of white paper.

The rank 4 cultivator added other things to the piece of paper. Then he wrapped the paper into a ball, which he began to refine.

He held the ball of paper over a blue flame with his mind. Then he rotated the ball as he added other materials and Metacs.
