Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 272: Space-Cleaving Rupture Technique

The chaotic currents of the first layer surged like a tsunami.

They rushed in from all directions as rifts formed, flooding the damaged regions of space. Almost immediately, reality began to stabilize. The fractured, glass-like world repaired itself at a visible pace, cracks sealing one after another until no rifts remained.

”The chaotic currents.” Grey smiled faintly.

[Your Comprehension Defies the Heavens! By observing the chaotic currents of space, you have gained insight into the Spatial Law and the Divine Law of ’Space’.]

The chaotic flow of space existed everywhere.

It behaved like a vast river that permeated reality itself. Whenever something disrupted the structure of space, the flow rushed toward the disturbance, filling the gap, restoring balance, and retreating once stability was achieved.

This was the natural self-repair mechanism of space.

Spatial nodes existed within this flow.

They could be stretched, folded, compressed, and even marked for teleportation. Through them, evolvers interacted with space directly rather than treating it as an empty medium.

However, there were rules.

Not all spatial nodes were equal.

Some nodes were naturally stabilized, supported by dense frameworks and strong joints. Others were fragile, loosely connected and poorly supplied by the chaotic currents of space.

If an unstable node was forcibly highlighted and used as a teleportation anchor, the result could be disastrous. Breaking into such a node tore a hole in reality, drawing the chaotic currents in violently. An evolver caught in that turbulence would be torn apart before space finished repairing itself.

Stretching space carried similar risks.

When groups of nodes connected by frameworks and joints were pulled too far apart, the chaotic flow could no longer reach them evenly. Once the supply became insufficient, the integrity of those nodes collapsed. The structure destabilized, triggering spatial backlash as the chaotic currents surged in to correct the imbalance.

From a scientific standpoint, none of this made sense.

Yet this was how space functioned in this world.

To evolvers, space was not distance.

It was structure.

Reality bent freely through the manipulation of spatial nodes, governed by flow, stability, and balance.

Naturally, there were methods to prevent nodes from collapsing.

One method involved forging a spatial array that absorbed chaotic currents directly from the sub dimensional space, supplementing the nodes and maintaining their stability. Another approach relied on grand spatial arrays that converted cosmic energy into spatial power, ensuring continuous flow through the affected regions.

As long as sufficient flow was maintained, spatial nodes would remain stable.

They would not rupture.

They would not collapse.

And space would bend without resistance.

Of course, Grey did not know any grand arrays, nor even the more common ones. Arrays of that level could only be deployed by fourth rank beings who could sense the Spatial Law with far greater clarity.

In his current state, deploying a four star array was completely beyond him.

With the experiment on expansion concluded, it was now time to test compression.

And this was far more interesting.

Grey’s figure flickered as spatial distortion surged around him. In the next moment, he appeared high in the sky.

Below him stood heavy mountains and towering trees, their presence dense and grounded.

Without hesitation, Grey activated Spatial Perception.

Spatial nodes surfaced within his vision one after another.

The nodes surrounding the mountainous region were packed tightly together, clustered densely with visible joints binding them into a rigid structure. Compared to the surrounding space, this area was far more compact and resistant.

Grey focused.

Mental fluctuations surged.

In the next instant, spatial power erupted.

The tightly packed clusters of nodes around the mountains and towering trees responded immediately. An intense pulling force formed between them, drawing node after node inward. The entire structure became unstable as the nodes rushed toward each other in rapid succession.

Then.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Skrrrt!

The world plunged into darkness for a split second.

When vision returned, the heavy mountains and towering trees were gone. In their place, a massive spatial rift gaped open, its edges twisting violently as chaotic currents spilled outward.

Space itself had been crushed.

Seeing this, Grey felt a surge of excitement, like a newborn getting its hands on a new toy for the first time.

At the same moment, his ability responded.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By utilizing the spatial law, you have gained further insight into it and the divine law of space.]

Then, an unexpected surprise followed.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By compressing spatial nodes, you have successfully formed spatial rifts of destruction and comprehended the technique ’space cleaving rupture’.]

Information flooded into Grey’s mind like a tidal wave. Execution paths, movement patterns, instinctive control, and refined applications of the technique were engraved into his thoughts in rapid succession. Even muscle memory adjusted accordingly, as if he had practiced it countless times before.

Within seconds, the technique was fully grasped.

Grey paused briefly, then smiled wryly.

To think he would gain such a powerful technique so easily!

This was far beyond his expectations.

He understood its functioning clearly.

”Just four uses of spatial power and one of my elixir fields is already empty.” Grey turned his awareness inward.

He had sensed the drain earlier but chose not to comment on it until now. Spatial power consumption was immense. Far greater than any technique he had used before.

That was only natural.

He was still a second ranker.

Even if his reserves rivaled those of a pseudo third ranker, sustaining spatial manipulation was not something his current realm was built for. Even true third rankers would struggle to maintain prolonged usage of spatial powers.

To do so comfortably, one needed to open a domain.

A domain allowed for vastly increased energy storage, deeper attunement with the world, and the ability to draw in cosmic energy continuously for both evolution and reserves.

Yet the Space Cleaving Rupture technique changed that.

Its energy consumption was directly reduced by half.

Grey’s eyes lit up.

This alone made the technique invaluable.

Among all spatial applications, forcibly collapsing spatial nodes into each other was the most efficient method of destruction. It scaled easily, ignored conventional defenses, and annihilated targets on a massive level.

A technique born purely for obliteration.

Grey’s smile deepened.

This experiment had been worth it.
