Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 259: The Time Law Is Strange

It came from the origin imprint.

Rather than inflicting strain, the imprint imposed a specified limit—three seconds.

No matter how stable he was, no matter how calm his mind became, the authority would forcibly disengage at the third second. Grey had no idea how to increase that limit.

Perhaps he needed to comprehend the Time Law itself?

Yet that thought irritated him.

Because when it came to the Time Law, his comprehension was abysmal.

So poor that even though he was constantly stopping time, even though he was directly interacting with it again and again, he still could not glimpse into its structure.

Not even a fragment.

It genuinely pissed him off.

Why was time harder to comprehend than spatial law?

Spatial law bent easily under analysis. It had structure, dimensions, vectors. Even when complex, it obeyed rules that could be dismantled.

But time?

It felt... evasive.

Were the mysteries of laws fundamentally harder than spatial laws?

Grey’s own theory was that it was related to heaven itself.

Heaven must be gatekeeping time.

After all, time governed causality, sequence, fate, and endings. If anyone had the authority to restrict access to it, it would be heaven.

But then again—

He could glimpse the Divine Law of Time.

If that was the case, maybe he could gain comprehension from that angle instead.

Or perhaps...

There was a mysterious entity actively blocking him from comprehending it.

Because despite gaining insight into multiple divine laws, the one he had gained the least understanding of was Time.

Almost nothing.

Which begged the question.

What exactly was the Time Law?

And what was its significance?

However, just as that thought surfaced—

His comprehension ability activated on its own.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By understanding the hidden mysteries of the Time Law, you’ve glimpsed into the mysteries of ’World Creation’ and glimpsed into the intentions of ’Heavenly Dao’.]

”...”

Grey’s eyes widened.

Before he could even process the implications of those words—

Time resumed.

The six seconds were over.

And the sword energy fell.

But Grey didn’t care.

As the attack completely shattered his line of defense, the violent force slammed straight into his dragon scales. For an instant, they held, ancient runes blazing as draconic resistance awakened instinctively.

Then—

A sharp, ear-piercing crack echoed across the battlefield.

The dragon scales shattered one after another, fragments exploding outward like shattered obsidian. A terrifying impact surged through his body, ripping past his exterior and ravaging everything beneath.

Blood sprayed into the air, sizzling as it came into contact with the residual sword energy.

Grey’s massive draconic form was hurled backward violently, smashing through layers of earth and stone. Mountains trembled as his body carved a deep ravine across the barren land.

Albert stood frozen, staring.

”Was that... Seven Rings of Burning Heaven?” His voice was hoarse, tongue-tied with disbelief.

There was no mistaking it.

It looked like the Seven Rings of Burning Heaven.

But it was better.

[Hey, did you guys see that?!]

[He just used the City Lord’s technique, right?]

[Did he know that technique as well?!]

[How else could he use it? And his version looks stronger!]

[Yet it still couldn’t survive the sword technique of City Lord Albert... just how terrifying is that move?]

[So this is the true limit of a third-ranker!]

As they discussed the plagiarizer who plagiarized the City Lord’s technique, the man himself lay on the ground, his massive body littered with wounds.

However—

Grey didn’t care.

With a broken body, he flapped his wings and rose into the air, blood continuously oozing from countless gashes.

He took out several healing potions.

Grey had come prepared this time.

He had stocked many third-rank healing potions in advance.

But even that wasn’t enough.

A body of this size required more than potions alone.

Thus, he deployed a Grand Healing Formation without hesitation.

But would Albert simply stand still and allow it?

Of course not.

Albert’s eyes turned cold.

He shot toward Grey, sword energy condensing instantly in his hand, forming a blazing blade. At the same time, he formed a seal with his other hand and invoked the Flame Release Spell.

He planned to end this here.

Right now.

If he didn’t—

He would only be inviting more trouble.

However, a cold smile formed on Grey’s draconic face.

”Mirror Shield Circle,” Grey laughed loudly as a talisman rose into the air. ”It’s your time to shine.”

He had used one before against Little Hong.

But this—

This was the stronger version.

The one with fifteen-fold amplification.

”Hahahaha.”

Grey found it genuinely hilarious.

He had been caught off guard earlier by the message about World Creation and Heavenly Dao, which was why he hadn’t utilized Nexus Overclock properly.

His Nexus Overclock was designed to prevent fatal backlash when exceeding limits and to absorb impacts far stronger than himself.

If he had reversed the circulation sequence for a split second and overclocked slightly higher, he could have neutralized the sword technique with nothing more than a manageable headache.

But it didn’t matter now.

The healing formation was active.

By the time Grey finished musing, the Mirror Shield Circle was fully deployed.

It shone brilliantly as it absorbed the incoming sword slash and flame release entirely.

”Mirror Shield Circle!” Albert exclaimed in shock.

Then his expression turned ugly.

The attacks he had just launched—

Were reflected back.

”Y-You’re insane!” Albert roared.

”If that lands, the land will be completely destroyed!”

”No—forget that. The entire northern part of the southern region will be pulverized!”

Grey snorted.

He swiftly shattered the Mirror Shield Circle before the reflected attacks could fully form.

Albert was right.

Not only would Albert be vaporized—

Millions would die with him.

He didn’t care about Albert.

But collateral deaths on that scale were unnecessary.

Fifteen-fold amplification of a pseudo third-ranker was terrifying.

Besides—

This wasn’t his power.

He didn’t need it.

With the Grand Healing Formation restoring him rapidly, Grey’s body returned to peak condition.

He didn’t need external forces to defeat Albert.

Grey grinned.

”City Lord Albert,” he said calmly, ”use your sword technique again. I dare you.”

’Let me take it.’

The plagiarizer’s eyes gleamed.

He had already comprehended half of it.

One more time.

He just needed to see it one more time.

”....”

Albert stared at him strangely.

Did this man have masochistic tendencies?

Still—

He knew exactly how effective Heaven Opening Sword Line was against Grey.

Without hesitation—

Albert used it again.
