Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 260: Heaven Opening Sword Line

Sword energy swirled violently around Albert before abruptly vanishing. For a single heartbeat, the world fell unnaturally silent.

Then, the entire barren land changed.

The sky dimmed. The mountains groaned. The air itself seemed to be sliced apart, rearranged, and rewritten by an invisible will.

”Heaven Opening Sword Line!” Albert shouted, his voice echoing across heaven and earth as the technique descended upon Grey once more.

This time, Grey was ready.

Nexus Overclock surged without restraint. Nexus energy revolved at a perfect golden-ratio balance, stabilizing for a brief instant before violently reversing. In that single moment, his mental capacity, energy output, physical strength, and defensive capabilities were amplified simultaneously, stacking atop one another without conflict or instability.

On top of that, the Halo flared.

A transcendent pressure descended as its buff enveloped Grey, reinforcing not just his body, but his very existence.

The molecules in the air began to twist.

If time were frozen at this moment, one would see countless deathly points of condensed sword energy suspended everywhere—filling the sky, the land, and every conceivable direction. There was no blind spot.

No escape.

”Ten Rings of Burning Heaven!”

Nexus energy turned a vivid pink as enormous flower-like rings bloomed all around Grey. They rotated with terrifying momentum, interlocking and overlapping, forming an absolute defensive domain just as the attack crashed down.

ZZZNNNG—!SHRAAAK!KRRT—KRRT—KRRT!

The impact was catastrophic.

The Ten Rings of Burning Heaven shattered one after another, torn apart effortlessly as the molecularly structured sword energy pierced straight through the defensive formation. The rings collapsed into fragments of light, unable to withstand the refined killing intent embedded within the technique.

Sword energy surged toward Grey’s draconic scales once again.

However—

This time, it was different.

Grey grinned.

Nexus Overclock patterns erupted across his entire draconic body, glowing lines and sigils spreading like intricate circuitry etched into steel. In an instant, his massive form resembled a mechanical dragon forged from the fusion of technology and ancient authority.

The next moment, the countless sword lines struck.

Clang!Clang!Clang!

Instead of shattering his scales, the sword energy was violently deflected. Sparks exploded in all directions as the blades rebounded, unable to penetrate his reinforced body. The draconic scales held firm, humming with stabilized nexus energy, each impact dispersing harmlessly across his form.

Grey stood at the center of the devastation, completely unmoved.

Albert’s pupils shrank.

The Heaven Opening Sword Line—

Had failed.

The entire southern region went wild.

[The attack failed?!]

[How is that possible? Didn’t he get injured by it just a few moments ago?]

[But now there isn’t even a single scratch on him!]

[How is this even possible?!]

[This guy... he’s not normal!!]

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing the Heaven Opening Sword Line, you’ve successfully improved it and comprehended ’Heaven Opening Sword Line’.]

”Yes!” Grey almost jumped in joy.

A powerful technique had been acquired.

A technique that could actually injure a dragon like him.

But it didn’t end there.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By comprehending a law technique, you’ve comprehended the Law of Sword and unlocked Sword Intent.]

That was right.

The technique City Lord Albert had used was not an ordinary sword technique.

It was a law technique.

It utilized sword energy as its base, the Law of Sword to sharpen and elevate it, and Sword Intent to fundamentally alter reality—converting the molecules in the air into sword energy itself.

Now what was Sword Intent?

It was a higher form of sword energy.

It was the will, authority, and dominance of a sword cultivator.

’Turning grass into swords and leaves into blades,’ Grey thought.

Sword Intent was essentially rewriting reality so that the world bent to a sword cultivator’s will.

The world itself became the sword.

And aside from correcting a few flaws in execution, the technique itself was already at its peak. There was no further room for improvement.

But Heaven Opening Sword Line didn’t need improvement.

It relied on sword energy to activate it, the Law of Sword to empower it, and Sword Intent to make it possible.

That was Heaven Opening Sword Line.

A technique that could one day open the heavens themselves.

’That’s how it’s written inside the technique...’

Grey was honestly confused.

He knew how rare law techniques were. He knew how terrifying the level of comprehension required to create one was.

It rose the question, who or where did it come here?

Perhaps after this battle, he should ask City Lord Albert where he got the technique from.

Maybe it came from the floating cities?

Whatever the case, it was monstrously powerful.

And thanks to it, he had comprehended the Law of Sword and stepped into Sword Intent in one go.

His comprehension was truly heaven defying.

Yet there were still things that resisted him.

Like the Law of Time.

Why exactly could he not comprehend it?

The answer given by his Comprehension Lotus was clear.

It contained the mysteries of world creation and the intentions of Heavenly Dao.

That realization unsettled him.

Grey confirmed one thing.

The Heavenly Dao was a living entity.

It had consciousness.

And it was plotting something.

Perhaps even the evolutionary paths themselves were part of its plans.

He vividly remembered when the ”other” Heavenly Dao descended and granted him sainthood.

There were clearly two of them.

One supported him.

One actively oppressed him.

Because in the end, why would the same presence reward him for breaking the taboo of discovering Nexus Energy—by granting him the highest authority under heaven—sainthood?

It didn’t make sense.

And Little Hong’s words only made it more concrete.

But for now, he set those thoughts aside.

It was time to test the sword technique.

All of these thoughts passed through Grey’s mind within a single second.

”Hey, City Lord Albert,” Grey’s voice boomed as he transformed back into his human form. ”Your sword technique didn’t work.”

”You—! How is this possible?!” City Lord Albert shouted in disbelief. ”How did you deflect my attack?!”

He was utterly stunned.

Wasn’t this the same person who had been injured by the sword just moments ago?

Then how—

How was he perfectly fine now?
