Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 124: Three Guards Province (3)

”Someone who was framed?” The overseer rubbed his beard in amusement.

”That’s right!” Lia nodded heavily. ”He was framed!”

”What?” Just then, a voice came from the side. It was none other than Alissa.

Alissa was looking at her with a slightly stunned expression, which was extremely rare.

However, Lia didn’t immediately reply to her. Instead, she continued speaking. ”Our entire city is in danger, Overseer, and I am telling this to you as the daughter of the city lord of Nova City.”

”Oh?” Gu Qianchen’s expression shifted. ”Tell me, little one. I’m listening. Whatever it is, I, Gu Qianchen, promise to help you with it.”

”The High Order. It’s the High Order,” Lia said quietly.

Although she had promised Grey not to tell anyone about this, she believed that telling it to the Overseer himself was the best decision here. He was an invincible 3rd Rank existence, and with her out of Nova City, she believed this was the safest moment to reveal the truth. This was the time to strike the Duskwood Family properly.

”The High Order?” Gu Qianchen’s expression darkened.

”That’s right, Senior Gu Qianchen.” Lia’s face was serious. ”Nobody is safe in Nova City. The High Order has already taken root within the city, and the last incident was only a small part of their plan. if not for my friend who was framed, Nova City would have ceased to exist today!”

”What?!” This time, it was Evan who was stunned.

”Lia, is what you’re saying the truth?!”

She glanced at him, then looked back at Gu Qianchen. ”Senior, for proof, you can search my memories. That is the only undeniable evidence I have. My city is in absolute danger. A family called the Duskwood Family is directly working for the High Order, and the so called Nova City invasion was their attempt to eliminate my father.”

”If you search my memories, you will see the direct descendant of that family colluding with the High Order! If not for my friend, the Duskwood Family would have succeeded. They would have assassinated my father. They were capable of it, they simply chose not to do it publicly!”

The room fell silent.

From her expression and tone, it didn’t sound like a lie. And the fact that she was willing to submit her memories only added credibility to her words.

A thoughtful expression appeared on Gu Qianchen’s face. ”This friend of yours, where is he now?”

”I don’t know.” Lia shook her head. ”He escaped the city safely after the attack from the Duskwoods. Now everyone believes the invasion was caused by him, when in reality, he was the one who saved everyone!”

”Saved everyone...?” Alissa fell silent when she heard those words.

She froze for a moment.

She vividly remembered the day Grey, her reincarnated brother, was framed as a criminal, hated by the entire city.

Even the Evolver’s Association had failed to uncover the truth.

Yet now, the truth had surfaced.

And the truth left her utterly lost for words.

Her brother was no criminal. No, he had single handedly saved Nova City!

”You... Lia... why didn’t you tell me?” Alissa asked, her voice tight. ”He’s my brother. I had the right to know.”

”I promised him,” Lia answered calmly. ”I promised him I wouldn’t tell anyone. Not until I found someone powerful enough to protect us.”

Gu Qianchen spoke. ”Your friend made the right decision.”

”What he did was correct. Telling anyone, even your father, could have cost you your life in the worst possible scenario.”

Then he paused.

”This friend. What is his name?”

”Grey Lockhart!” The one who answered wasn’t Lia, but Alissa. ”His name is Grey Lockhart. He is my brother. Overseer Gu Qianchen, I also want to make a request. Please help clear my brother’s name.”

Alissa had once hated him.

Her hatred had lessened after realizing he was no longer the same person he used to be, but she had still held onto a fragment of resentment. Hatred built over years didn’t vanish overnight, and after the Nova City incident, it had surged again.

She had unconsciously assumed he was still the same wretched person from before, and seeing Richard’s devastated face every day had only strengthened the resentment in her heart.

But now, the truth was undeniable.

She had been wrong.

She had been wrong about Grey.

He was never a criminal.

And now that she knew, how could she call herself a proper sister if she didn’t stand for him?

She couldn’t.

Behind her cold exterior, Alissa had always cared deeply about everything around her. She had grown cold because of the old Grey’s treatment towards her, but that version of him was long gone he couldn’t even be considered her brother anymore, and despite all that, a part of her still wanted to help him.

Maybe it was guilt.

Maybe it was regret.

But she could not turn back now.

”Lord Gu Qianchen, I make the same request!” Evan stepped forward firmly.

He was acting under the instruction of the Immortal Lady, and both of them had already known that Grey was framed. However, neither of them could act without solid proof.

The Immortal Lady favored Grey for reasons Evan didn’t fully understand, but he was certain of one thing.

Grey was someone important and how can he turn a blind eye to injustice?

That was not like Evan!

”To think such things were happening right under my nose. Unacceptable.” The Immortal Lady’s voice echoed in Evan’s mind. ”Boy, you know what to do.”

Meanwhile, Lin Fang watched everything unfold in stunned silence.

”Hey, System, doesn’t this feel like the typical hero framed trope?” Lin Fang asked quietly. ”Are you sure this Grey guy isn’t the actual protagonist?”

[Host, Evan is the protagonist of this world. There is no doubt about that.]

Lin Fang narrowed his eyes internally. ’Whoever he really is, he’s a troublesome variable. If he returns, he’ll interfere with our plans for both Alissa and Lia.’

He noticed the look in Lia’s eyes. She seemed calm, but there was a burning determination hidden deep within them, a resolve born from her desire to save her friend.

As someone who had read countless novels before transmigrating, Lin Fang knew this kind of resolve only belonged to characters whose stories shifted the world.

It was dangerous.

[Understood, Host.]
