Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 119: What is this power? (2)

At the same time the invasion of the High Order was happening, the entire internet of Ashspire City was going crazy.

There were countless media drones flying across the Ashspire City, capturing everything. The majority of people had safely reached the shelters built across the city for protection.

However, the shelters were being breached by High Order members one after another, with countless evolvers of Ashspire City rushing out to protect the ordinary citizens.

The Formation Association wasn’t idle either. Members of the Formation Association took to the sky and landed on the shelters, one by one activating the already prepared array formations.

[This is a disaster! This is exactly like what happened in Nova City months ago!]

[Everyone, I got fresh news! People from the Interwire Company and the Echelon Group have been spotted with members of the High Order!]

[What?!]

[Are you mistaken? How is this possible?!]

[Everyone, do not trust the law enforcers! There are people among them following the High Order! We were attacked by them, but we managed to escape safely!]

[What is happening? Why are the protectors of the city colliding with the High Order? Where is the City Lord?!]

[The City Lord? You might want to see this picture.]

[Cyborg67 posted an image]

Everyone in the livestream chat immediately clicked on the image.

The picture showed the members of the Ardent Family alongside several grey-robed figures attacking citizens, and from the bodies of the dead citizens, streams of faint light were emerging.

Everyone in the livestream went wild. They couldn’t believe their eyes anymore!

[W-What is happening?! My god, is the Ardent Family also colluding with the High Order?!]

[No, this has to be fake!]

There were still some disbelievers.

[How can the City Lord’s family betray us? He’s the protector of our city!]

[They must be possessed! Yeah, that has to be it!]

[Wake up! Look around you! The Interwire Company, some of the law enforcers, and the Ardent Family — they’re all attacking and killing citizens! And they show no signs of possession!]

Some law enforcers were still fighting for the people. Out of all factions, the least who decided to side with the High Order were the law enforcers. The majority of them still had hearts of justice. They would rather die than let the High Order win.

[The entire Ashspire City has been compromised! The City Lord is gone too!]

[Impossible!]

[How can this happen?!]

[Look at the livestream on the top left! It’s Miss Valeria! She’s fighting the High Order members!]

The stream showed Valeria evaporating High Order members with a single attack.

[Powerful! Miss Valeria is powerful! She actually eliminated several of them in one move! Those people wore grey robes — that means they were 2nd Rank!]

Everyone’s eyes were now glued to the livestream showing Valeria.

[Just how powerful is she? Could the rumors about her being at the middle stage be true?]

[What sort of power is she using? Is it the Law of Fire?!]

Valeria took a deep breath as she stared at the city from the sky, her expression grim. Smoke and fire were now rising from all parts of Ashspire City, and the number of people she could send out was limited. She could only find the next High Order member and eliminate them herself.

”The calamity...” She muttered, eyes darkening. ”This is the calamity he was talking about!”

Grey predicted it — and it happened without fail.

Within just a few hours of the secret realm opening, everything had descended into madness.

Exactly as he said.

”Are you safe, Grey?” Valeria’s voice trembled slightly with worry.

Just then, her expression drastically changed.

She sensed a huge influx of energy spreading from all corners of Ashspire City.

This energy — she was extremely familiar with it. Everyone on Blue Star was.

Corruption energy!

She flew higher into the air to observe the situation more closely.

Suddenly, a blazing crimson fireball soared toward her and stopped beside her.

”Miss Valeria.” The voice was grim. It was Werner.

”I sense corruption energy from all over the city!” he said in a heavy tone.

Immediately after, several flashes of red-black lightning shot into the sky, and small black voids began appearing all around the city.

”Corruption Fields!”

[No way! Corruption Fields!]

[Corruption Fields are spawning everywhere! Everyone outside, run to safety!]

[Is this the end of the world?! How can so many Corruption Fields spawn at the same time?!]

[Everyone near Shelter-023, evacuate immediately! A Corruption Field is spawning there!]

”No!” Valeria’s expression changed drastically.

”How can so many of these spawn simultaneously?” She scanned the entire city, her senses trembling. ”There are more than a hundred of them!”

And the worst part — they were spreading out of Ashspire City, heading north toward the Three Guards Province.

”This is impossible!” Werner’s eyes widened in disbelief, his body trembling at the sheer scale of it.

He even lost hope for a moment when he saw the endless dark vortexes swirling into existence.

Countless High Order members and Corruption monsters emerged from the growing darkness.

Everything was against them. Once a Corruption Field began forming, nothing could stop it.

[It’s over! We’re all going to die! There’s no way we can survive this!]

[Everyone, evacuate the areas near the shelters! More and more Corruption Fields are spawning there!]

[The only hope is to leave the city! Head south! The Corruption Fields are spreading toward the Three Guards Province!]

[This is nothing like Nova City! This invasion is several times greater! If there’s a god, please save us!]

People in the chat began crying and praying. They were helpless. Just clearing one Corruption Field alone required several high-tier evolvers, and now there were more than a hundred.

They could only pray for a miracle.

But then—

A new message appeared in the livestream, flashing across every screen, catching the attention of the entire city.

[Everyone, look at the livestream in the middle! It’s showing the center of Ashspire City!]

Buzz—!

Almost everyone in Ashspire City turned toward the same direction, the heart of the metropolis, where the grand barrier core and city’s main array formation stood.

Right now, that place was glowing.

A terrifying power was erupting from it, spreading outward in concentric ripples of pure, radiant violet light. The ground trembled, buildings shook, and every combatant, High Order or evolver, looked up, momentarily frozen by the brilliance that pierced the sky.

The beam soared upward and struck the city barrier with a sound like thunder cracking through glass.

Buzzt! Buzzt!

Instantly, intricate runic lines began spreading across the barrier dome like a living circuit, symbols of immense complexity igniting one after another. The entire sky became a massive spell diagram, veins of glowing light crawling across it in fractal precision.

Then—

A deafening hum filled the air.

The clouds twisted violently as if the hidden workings of the heavens themselves were responding.

The barrier blazed brighter, flooding the entire city in violet-white light until shadows themselves ceased to exist.

A colossal surge of energy descended into Ashspire City. From within the radiant diagram, countless strands of light burst forth like rain from a celestial storm.

10... 20... 50... 100... 200... 500...

Hundreds upon hundreds of lights!

They rained down across the city like divine spears piercing through the night sky, each beam roaring like thunder as it descended.

Buzz! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The moment the first light touched a Corruption Field, space itself screamed. The air warped violently as the black void with red miasma twisted and folded inward on itself, air convulsing as if rejecting its existence. The edge of the corruption field shimmered, crackled, and then—

BOOM!

It collapsed.

The endless darkness and red miasma of the corruption field shattered like a mirror struck by divine light, fragments of corruption fields disintegrating into nothingness.

One after another, the Corruption Fields imploded. Explosions of violet light erupted across the city.

The once-dying city of Ashspire was suddenly illuminated, streets glowing with purple radiance, the sky painted in blinding brilliance that tore through despair itself.

Within just five seconds of the light’s descent, every Corruption Field that had been forming, every single one, was utterly annihilated.

Not even the faintest distortion remained.

[W-What?!]

[WHAT?! WHAT THE HELL?!]

[T-THE CORRUPTION FIELDS ARE VANISHING?!]

[WHAT IS THAT POWER?!]

[How is it possible for something to erase a Corruption Field mid-formation?! It should’ve been too late!]

For a brief, surreal moment, the entire city fell silent.

Every gaze was lifted toward the sky.

Every breath was held.

Every heartbeat trembled.

All of Ashspire stood frozen, staring in awe at the light that had just rewritten despair into hope.
