Chapter 1140, The Imperial Artifact, Spear of Fate

The so-called ‘Eternal Strike’ was ultimately just a deterrent.

It was somewhat akin to nuclear weapons in the old era—something that would never be used unless absolutely necessary.

Because of this, Major Forces rarely dared to target Forces protected by an Imperial Artifact.

For instance, the Dragon Clan of the Eastern Sector, despite possessing three Imperial Artifacts, had never once hunted the Imperial Artifacts of other Forces.

The reason? The threat of an ‘Eternal Strike.’

If the True Spirit of an Imperial Artifact was unwilling, no one could force it.

Thus, every Imperial Artifact, even in a weakened state, still possessed formidable power.

An Eternal Strike, a last resort, a full-power attack, could unleash an attack comparable to the full power strike of an Eternal.

In the current era, such an attack was terrifying beyond measure, no one could withstand it, and no Force could afford the consequences.

If an Eternal Strike were unleashed upon the Milky Way, the entire region would likely be reduced to ashes.

The foundation of the Demon Court, built over a hundred years, would be obliterated.

Billions of living beings would perish.

Even if Yu Zi Yu somehow survived by sheer luck, he would be no different from a dead man.

This was the final deterrence of an Imperial Artifact.

If an Imperial Artifact’s True Spirit was unwilling, no one  dared to force it.

Several epochs ago, in an era when Demonic Forces ran rampant, there was a race known as the Heavenly Demon Clan, which dominated an entire epoch.

They relied on their monstrous power to hunt down the Imperial Artifacts of other races.

Even when the True Spirits of these Artifacts resisted, they forcibly sealed them within their domain.

But in doing so, they eventually enraged one particular Imperial Artifact—one with unparalleled pride.

In the end, it unleashed an Eternal Strike.

With just one blow, the Heavenly Demon Clan’s painstakingly built foundation—accumulated over thousands of years—was wiped out.

Even their eight Hegemons were erased from existence.

At that point, it had only been a few thousand years since the Resurgence of Spiritual Energy. The mighty Heavenly Demon Clan had not yet produced an Eternal.

Thus, they were annihilated.

Everything was gone.

A race that had once dominated the entire Starry Sky disappeared without a trace.

As for that Imperial Artifact and its associated race, they too vanished into the annals of history, never to be found again.

From that point on, everyone understood a crucial truth: Attacking a race, it was acceptable; destroying a race and severeting its legacy, it too was acceptable; but hunting an Imperial Artifact was sheer folly.

Imperial Artifacts were, after all, Eternals wandering through the stars and across ages.

Even in a damaged state, they were entities beyond Mortal comprehension.

Moreover, their True Spirits were enigmatic and unpredictable.

If someone were to piss off an Imperial Artifact, losing their lives would be a small matter, bringing calamity to their entire race of faction, that was the true horror.

This was precisely why the current Yu Zi Yu had abandoned the idea of hunting Imperial Artifacts.

Back then, he had little understanding of the matter.

Thus, he had considered capturing an Imperial Artifact.

After all, if Imperial Artifacts could be hunted so easily, wouldn’t someone have already done so in the countless epochs before?

After a reminder from the Sixteen Holy Wings, Yu Zi Yu finally understood:

It was not that no one had tried, it was that no one dared to.

The price was simply too steep; far beyond imagination.

After all, before Eternals, everyone was mere Ants.

If mere Ants dared to covet Eternals, no matter how weakened that Eternal was, would not they be swatted down like dust?

Yu Zi Yu was fortunate.

He had encountered Holy Sixteen Wings, whose temper could be considered unusually mild among the Imperial Artifact’s True Spirits.

A little childish, perhaps, but undeniably kind-hearted.

Moreover, this being had taken a liking to Yu Zi Yu and was willing to act as his guardian.

Of course, much could also be accredited to Yu Zi Yu’s own efforts. Since he truly earned the recognition of the Sixteen Holy Wings because of his Innate Talent—Absolute Evolution, thanks to which he transformed into the Fifth Angel King of the Angel Clan.

In a way, Yu Zi Yu could now be considered half an Angel himself…

…

Meanwhile, as the Heavenly Court debated the possibility of launching an Eternal Strike, Yu Zi Yu, deep within the Celestial Realm, was contemplating the same question.

“Anzuiel, if we were to descend upon the Elemental Clan… do you think their Imperial Artifact would unleash an Eternal Strike?”

With a hint of hesitation, Yu Zi Yu turned to gaze at the golden wings suspended silently in mid-air nearby.

Anzuiel was the name of the Imperial Artifact Sixteen Holy Wings.

After Yu Zi Yu stepped into Tier-6, Seventh Order, the Sixteen Holy Wings took the initiative to request, “Yu Zi Yu, from now on, just call me Anzuiel.”

Moreover, he even inquired about Yu Zi Yu’s relationship with the Primordial Eastern Emperor Bell.

However, Yu Zi Yu himself was uncertain about the connection between Anzuiel and the Primordial Eastern Emperor Bell, so he could only explain that the Demon Court inherited the legacy of the Ancient Heavenly Court.

Unexpectedly, this explanation greatly pleased the Sixteen Holy Wings.

In his own words, “Only such a reason could explain why that great figure would awaken from its eternal slumber.”

At this moment, upon hearing Yu Zi Yu’s voice, the True Spirit of the Imperial Artifact—a phantom resembling a child—rubbed his chin and chuckled, “Relax, relax. Imperial Artifacts and races are entirely separate matters. Let me put it this way—even if someone were to wipe out the Angel Clan today, I wouldn’t even bat an eye. At most, I’d feel some disappointment at their incompetence. The same goes for the Grimoire of the Elemental Clan… As long as you don’t provoke it, it won’t bother you. In short, for us Imperial Artifacts, face and reputation are what truly matter. As for the race or Force we are with… we don’t really care about them.”

Anzuiel’s each sentence gradually dispelled Yu Zi Yu’s concerns.

However, after a brief pause, as if remembering something, Anzuiel curled his lips into a smile and added, “Besides, you have nothing to worry about… Not to mention that you have that great figure watching over you, but even if it were just me, I could still keep you safe.”

“The Eternal Strike may be terrifying, capable of wiping out most of a galaxy, but against my super speed, it’s not much of a threat. I can’t block it, but I can certainly escape it.” At this, Anzuiel laughed again and continued, “Moreover, you’ve already begun to grasp the Principles of Time. By combining your Time Principles with my otherworldly speed, aside from the legendary Spear of Longinus, there are hardly any Postnatal Imperial Artifacts that could threaten us.”

“Spear of Longinus…” murmuring the name, Yu Zi Yu could not help but tremble slightly. [This Imperial Artifact…]

“That’s the Imperial Artifact of the Gods… also known as the Spear of Fate…” As Anzuiel mentioned this, his expression darkened noticeably.

Author Notes:

Imperial Artifacts are divided into Primordial and Postnatal categories.

Postnatal Imperial Artifacts were further classified into Lower-Grade, Intermediate-Grade, and High-Grade.

Additionally, they specialized in different aspects: offense, defense, support, and speed.}
