These two were the members of the Shadow Assassins, a secretive group personally established by Yu Zi Yu.

One was a Dark Elf from Elysia, known as the Moonshadow Reaper—a natural-born assassin, unmatched in the art of assassination.

The other was Seven from Earth, revered as the strongest assassin on the planet.

80 years ago, Yu Zi Yu had already planted them within the First Tower of the World.

At that time, the First Tower of the World had just emerged and had yet to become one of the Five Major Powers.

Thanks to their extraordinary assassination talent, they thrived within the organization, rising like fish in water.

And now, after 80 silent years, Moonshadow Reaper had reached the level of Half-Step Overlord, standing as a high-ranking member of the First Tower of the World.

As for Seven, he had stepped into the pinnacle of Tier-5, and was in-charge of overseeing the operation of an entire galaxy.

They had rooted themselves deep within the First Tower of the World.

And now…

“We pay our respect to Master…”

“We pay our respect to Master…”

Shouting in unison, the two shadow-cloaked figures slowly knelt on one knee.

“En…” Yu Zi Yu nodded slightly, a trace of satisfaction flickering in his eyes.

They had not disappointed his expectations.

For them to return at a time of all-out war, their loyalty was beyond doubt.

What Yu Zi Yu did not know was that both Moonshadow Reaper and Seven had Family or kin deeply rooted in the Demon Court.

Even while they were under deep cover within the First Tower of the World, the Demon Court had never stopped providing them with resources.

As the Force that had nurtured them, the Demon Court had never once treated them unfairly.

Thus, their loyalty to the Demon Court was unwavering.

More importantly, their Soul Lamps still burned quietly in the deepest depths of the Demon Court.

Betrayal? It was possible. But should they betray, they would suffer total annihilation—both Body and Soul.

With their intelligence, they knew the only choice they had.

…

After a moment of contemplation, Yu Zi Yu finally asked in a soft voice, “You two have spent quite some time in the First Tower of the World… I assume you know quite a lot?”

“Reporting to Master…” As the words fell, the woman with a moon-shaped mark on her forehead stepped forward and replied, “The First Tower of the World is an extremely complex Force. However, at its core, it is controlled thoroughly by the Shadow Clan. Even powerful outsiders like us struggle to integrate fully into its inner circle. We can only be considered high-ranking members at best.”

Hearing the report, Yu Zi Yu nodded in understanding.

A Force rooted in bloodline and race would naturally be difficult for outsiders to infiltrate.

However, as far as Yu Zi Yu was concerned, this level of infiltration was already more than enough.

A faint smile tugged at his lips as he stated plainly, “I won’t tell you everything, but I can guarantee one thing—If the First Tower of the World falls… you two shall be its new Masters.”

As he finished speaking, the corners of Yu Zi Yu’s lips curled into a smirk.

“So… you understand what I mean, don’t you?”

A deep silence followed.

However, at that moment, Moonshadow Reaper and Seven’s hearts trembled simultaneously.

After years of living in darkness, they had long forgotten how to express emotion. But Yu Zi Yu’s words shook them to their core.

The new Masters of the First Tower of the World? What did that mean?

There was no need for an explanation.

Even though the Shadow Clan formed the core of the First Tower of the World, they only contributed 40% of its total combat force.

As for the rest of the force, it came from the others—the assassins, the lonely figures wandering in the abyss of darkness.

In a desperate bid for survival, these lonely wanderers had clung to one another, shaping what had now become the greatest assassin faction in the entire cosmos—The First Tower of the World.

Even if the Shadow Clan was wiped out, the First Tower of the World would not truly perish.

It would still tower far above Second Tier and Third Tier Forces, far too powerful to be dismissed.

And now, their Master was entrusting this colossal Force to them.

The two shadow-cloaked figures could not help but glance at each other.

And in that instant, Moonshadow Reaper and Seven reached an unspoken understanding: From this moment forward, they were no longer fighting just for the Demon Court, they were fighting for themselves.

Because in the end, the true path of cultivation was built upon wealth, companionship, knowledge, and territory.

And among all things, wealth played the greatest role in pushing one’s cultivation forward.

With enough resources, even an ordinary Mortal could rise to become a pillar of power that holds up Heaven.

Thus, if they could seize control of a colossal Force like the First Tower of the World, they would never lack resources.

And with an abundance of resources, the Realm of Hegemony might even be within reach!

*Hoooo…* Exhaling a long, deep breath, Moonshadow Reaper and Seven responded in unison, “Master, we understand.”

There was a hint of excitement in their voices as they slowly retreated into the shadows.

Now, they knew they needed to accelerate their plans in the shadows…

…

As he watched the two figures disappear, Yu Zi Yu’s lips curved slightly.

It had been far too long since he last saw Moonshadow Reaper and Seven, a full 80 years—a lifetime for a Mortal.

Over such a long span of time, who knew how much they had changed? Thus, Yu Zi Yu’s trust in them was limited.

However, even this limited trust was more than enough.

Because as long as they coordinated with the Demon Court, attacking from both inside and out, the First Tower of the World would be in grave danger.

Right then…

*Tap, tap, tap…* Accompanied by light, graceful footsteps, a Red Fox wreathed in flames, its six tails swaying behind it, slowly emerged from behind Yu Zi Yu.

“How have they been all these years?”

“Quite well. They have provided the Demon Court with a great deal of valuable intelligence. Moreover, within the First Tower of the World, they have even established their own Force. I’ve heard… they’ve become one of the Eight Major Outer Forces of the tower.”

As the response came, Nine Tails’ gaze flickered slightly as she looked toward where Moonshadow Reaper and Seven had vanished.

“Then, in that case… they are worthy of trust.” With a slight chuckle, Yu Zi Yu could not help but mock himself, “It seems that I was being too paranoid, judging them with a petty mind… I even doubted their loyalty…”

“Heh heh…” Chuckling softly, as the corners of Nine Tails drew back, she stated frankly, “Master’s suspicion, is in fact, is actually a good thing—for both them and the Demon Court.”

Saying this, Nine Tails could not help but heave a sigh, continuing, “A ruler must never place blind trust in others. Sometimes… doubt is necessary.”
