Suddenly, a swooshing sound pierced through the night sky.

At the same time, the surrounding Mutant Beasts witnessed a root, as thick as a finger, breaking out of the soil and shooting straight towards the sky.

However, what surprised everyone was that along with the sudden emergence of the roots was a shrill, painful screech.

And looking toward the source of this screech, the Mutant Beasts were astonished to see a palm-sized Purple Mantis slowly materializing at the tip of the tree root.

Except, it appeared to be in a sorry state.

Its entire body was pierced through, with purple liquid flowing down the root like blood non-stop.

*Sizzle…*

Suddenly, a hair-raising sound caught the attention of the Mutant Beasts, whereupon they saw the purple liquid flowing out, corroding the entire tree root.

“Even its blood has such corrosive power…” A sigh escaped Yu Zi Yu’s lips as he looked at the Purple Mantis pierced by the root, feeling somewhat helpless.

He really found it regretful to destroy such a powerful existence with his own hands.

However, the more terrifying its potential, the more necessary its destruction. After all, it relied more on instinct rather than intelligence, such a creature posed a huge threat to not only Misty Mountains but also to the entire world.

This was especially when Yu Zi Yu couldn’t be certain that its kind would not be able to sense its aura and locate this planet.

After all, Yu Zi Yu had only accidentally discovered this creature while exploring deep space. He couldn’t be certain if there was a terrifying Clan behind this creature or not.

He hoped that there wasn’t, but if there was, and they discovered Earth, then this world would be in real danger.

It was a threat that even someone like Yu Zi Yu couldn’t take lightly.

The most intolerable thing for Yu Zi Yu was that if such creatures appeared in large numbers, he would lose control over the entire world.

After all, given the fact that these creatures could evolve so wildly, who could say what they would evolve into in the next second?

If, by any chance, they evolved the ability to threaten Yu Zi Yu, he would have no choice but to curse his own damn luck.

The reason he could be so patient now, upgrade his own body, and even develop Misty Mountains, was primarily because he was confident that there was no existence in this world that could threaten him.

This was the source of Yu Zi Yu’s huge confidence.

However, if such creatures appeared in large numbers, Yu Zi Yu couldn’t guarantee anything.

It was precisely sensing this potential threat that Yu Zi Yu’s killing intent surged like a tide.

“Farewell…” Sighing, Yu Zi Yu’s Spiritual Energy surged.

Moments later, in Yu Zi Yu’s calm gaze, a dark red and extremely hot Spiritual Energy rose from beneath the root, spreading continuously towards the tip.

If this formidable spiritual energy were to surge into the Purple Mantis, its entire body would be incinerated to smoke in an instant, and disappear without a trace.

Just at this moment, sensing its impending doom, the pierced Purple Mantis suddenly let out sharp and piercing screeches.

*Screech, screech…* Its screeches were filled with horror. That was the instinctive fear of ‘death’ by any living creature.

The more creatures relied on instinct, the more they feared ‘death’.

*Haaa…* Hearing the shrill screeches of the Purple Mantis, the nearby Aurora could not help but sigh.

[It’s not surprising that Green Mantis failed to counterattack this Void Creature. If it was so easy to counter, Master would not have labeled this Void Creature as ‘terrifying.’ It’s really a pity. Green Mantis has been training so hard. He was so diligent, so, so diligent…] Thinking of this, Aurora shook her head and slowly turned around, choosing to leave.

However, just as Aurora was controlling the girl to turn around, her body suddenly trembled.

“Master, wait!” A sudden cry broke the dead silence.

Stopping subconsciously, Yu Zi Yu looked at Aurora, who was about to leave, with suspicion.

“What is it?”

“I heard…” Struggling to maintain her calmness, Aurora looked at the Purple Mantis not far away with a pleasantly surprised expression.

She heard it, really heard it.

‘Green Mantis’ was calling out, hoping…

“Master, wait a moment, please give him some more time…” Providing not much explanation, Aurora fixed her gaze firmly on the nearby Purple Mantis.

“Give him some more time…” Yu Zi Yu raised his eyebrow, muttering to himself. Mere moments later, as if realizing something, his lips curled up.

“So that’s how it is.” With a chuckle, Yu Zi Yu voluntarily dissipated the scorching Spiritual Energy surging in his root.

The Purple Mantis was almost burned to ashes by him.

If Aurora had been half a second late, she would have only seen a wisp of smoke in its place.

More importantly, Yu Zi Yu’s control over his own Spiritual Energy happened to be also good, which allowed him to instantly cut off his Spiritual Energy the moment he heard Aurora’s voice.

Otherwise, things would have ended in a regretful manner.

…

Not long after, peace had once again returned to a certain corner in the depths of Misty Mountains.

The Purple Mantis, which had been pierced by Yu Zi Yu’s root, was now placed in the Spirit Pond in North Canyon.

As for the other Mutant Beasts, most of them had returned to their positions, leaving only Aurora and Thorns by Yu Zi Yu’s side.

Just at this moment, a faint groan suddenly echoed in the air.

Looking towards the sound, Yu Zi Yu and Aurora saw the Purple Mantis, which had long been unconscious, slowly waking up.

However, this time, there was a clarity in the depths of its eyes.

What surprised Yu Zi Yu even more was that its previous ferocity and coldness was nowhere to be found. Just by looking at its temperament, it seemed like a completely different person.

“Mas…ter…” Calling in a breaking voice, the Purple Mantis struggled to get up and looked towards the towering tree not far away.

However, just as it moved, it seemed to have opened its wound, which made it grimace in pain, a touch of Human-like agony appearing on its face.

“Who’re you?” With some uncertainty in her voice, the nearby Thorns furrowed her brows slightly.

“I… am not it.” After a simple explanation, the Purple Mantis couldn’t help but complain about its wound, “It was really close…”

With lingering fear, the Purple Mantis glanced at the wound on his chest, half of which had already healed, and couldn’t help but gasp a breath of cold air.

If Yu Zi Yu was just half a step late, he would have died in the hands of his Master.

But, he was really lucky.

Moreover, the current ‘Green Mantis’ was very grateful to his Master, extremely so.

If it weren’t for Yu Zi Yu forcing that monster to evolve, which forced it to consume a large amount of its Quintessence, he wouldn’t have been able to find a chance.

Of course, it was worth mentioning that the prime reason he was able to make a comeback was that in the moment of its death, the monster had retreated.

Out of fear of death, the instinctive creature subconsciously retreated, causing its strength to greatly decrease.

And grabbing this opportunity, Green Mantis found the chance to truly devour it and replace it.
