Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 539: Start Forging

”Wait a minute, Old Fa.” Fa Zhen raised an eyebrow at Zhang Fei. ”Can you sell me the materials to create the Heavenly Qi Convergence Array? Since the Heavenly Qi Convergence Array is superior to the Qi Gathering Array, I intend to use it in other locations, thus necessitating the materials.”

Fa Zhen imparted the formation method and handed some materials to Zhang Fei. ”I only have one set of materials left, so you should try creating the Qi Gathering Array first, or they will be destroyed if you fail to create it.”

”Yeah, youʼre right; Iʼll do it as you suggest.” After that, Fa Zhen took his returning jade out and immediately broke it. Zhang Fei hurried to catch up with Gang Zhishou, who had already finished building the forging furnace.

”Itʼs done; you can start practicing today.” Zhang Fei nodded in satisfaction after he saw the forging furnace. ”After you feel ready, you can use those thunderstrike alloys to forge your first weapon, and Iʼll prepare some other materials so I can teach you to make higher equipment.”

”Do you want to spend the night here, Old Gang?”

Gang Zhishou immediately rejected Zhang Feiʼs offer. ”I would love to, but I must prepare myself for that blacksmithing competition, so I must return now.”

”All right, I will see you in a few days, and I will have successfully forged my first weapon by then.” After Gang Zhishou disappeared, Zhang Fei went to Zhang Chen, who was standing in the distance with Wang Zhetian and Dou Luotian. ”Emperor Xian ordered Old Fa to provide us with the best protective array, and he also helped me set up several other arrays around this residence so all of you will be completely safe while you stay here.”

”I think thatʼs a good thing, Feiʼr.” Zhang Chen then turned toward the forging furnace, which was far from their location. ”Do you want to become a blacksmith?”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed as he nodded. ”Grandma, we will meet more and more powerful cultivators every time we go to a higher realm, so we need stronger equipment to protect ourselves. Unfortunately, high-level equipment is too expensive, so I want to become a blacksmith to forge more equipment for all of you. Furthermore, due to the existence of the Alchemy Union, I am unable to sell pills in this realm. Therefore, I am considering opening an equipment shop instead.”

Zhang Chen let out a soft sigh before hugging Zhang Fei. ”Iʼm glad to see you like this, but I hope you wonʼt push yourself too hard, and you should rest when you need it.”

”Donʼt worry, grandma. I know my limit and wonʼt push myself beyond my limits.” Zhang Fei then looked at his grandfather and Dou Luotian. ”My clone on earth met Gabriel a few days ago, and he offered me to join his side. However, I was not interested in interfering in the internal affairs of the winged race, so I rejected him.”

Dou Luotian was not surprised by that. ”Ever since you told us that you met Jiang Yinghua, I had expected Gabriel to come to see you, but I didnʼt expect that he would come so soon. Honestly, people on his side are too selfish and more concerned with their safety.”

”They may be selfish to you, but in my opinion, their decision is the best.” Zhang Fei then turned his gaze to the people engaged in their activities in the distance. ”To me, the safety of all of you is the most important, so I canʼt care about other peopleʼs quarrels or fights. Even if many wars occur in this realm, I will not participate in them and will only focus on protecting all of you. If the situation becomes too dangerous, I will immediately take you to a safer realm. Anyway, Iʼm considering going to the Tian Realm and challenging the Heaven Tower.”

”What do you mean by that? Why do you want to challenge the heaven tower? Doesnʼt that mean you are deliberately looking for trouble with them?” Dou Luotian asked with a frown. She was afraid that Zhang Fei would make a big mess there and slaughter many members of her race.

”I need to settle something there, but I will not tell you about it.” Zhang Fei then thought for a moment. ”I know your concerns, but I can assure you that I will not cause a big mess there as long as they do not hinder me from achieving my goal.”

”When will you go to the Tian Realm?”

Zhang Fei shook his head in response. ”I havenʼt decided when Iʼll go there yet, and Iʼm still considering it.” Zhang Fei then released Zhang Chen from his embrace. ”Iʼm going to install a formation in my training space, so Iʼll go there now.”

After Zhang Fei disappeared, Dou Luotian immediately asked Zhang Chen. ”Can you persuade him not to go there, Sister Chen?”

Zhang Chen shook her head at Dou Luotian. ”Sister Dou, Feiʼer will never change his mind once he has decided on something, so there is no way I can persuade him. I suggest you contact Micah when you guys return to Earth so he can tell your father about his plan, and they can prepare for the worst from now on.”

”Yeah, youʼre right.” Dou Luotian then turned to her husband. ”Itʼs been more than two weeks since we returned to Earth, so I think itʼs time for us to return for a while.”

Wang Zhetian nodded in agreement to his wife. ”All right, weʼll ask Feiʼer to send us there once his clones return.”

Huan Ya looked restless in the alchemy shop, mainly because the effect of Zhang Feiʼs enhanced demon charm still lingered in her mind, making it difficult for her to forget his figure.

The five men there with her seemed confused by her behavior, especially since she had never been like that before. ”What do you think about that brat, Huan Ya?”

Lian Jinshuʼs question brought Huan Ya back to her senses, but she immediately shook her head at him. ”Senior Lian, I advise you not to find trouble with him. His cultivation is still in the Earth Realm. Yet, I sense he possesses extraordinary abilities that enable him to resist my charm technique, making it impossible for me to control him. Moreover, Emperor Xian and his family favored him, and he even sent his two personal guards specifically to save him from Situ Yi. Emperor Yun and Empress Shi are also interested in him, so we will be at a loss if we have to deal with them.”

Lian Jinshu was furious with Huan Yaʼs words, but he couldnʼt refute her since she was telling the truth. Fighting Xian Feng was already difficult for him, let alone facing Yun Shang simultaneously.

Lian Jinshu suddenly remembered something and took it out of his storage ring, throwing it to Huan Ya, who caught it with a frown. ”Since your charm technique is useless against that brat, you can use the scarlet blossom pill on him, and he will be head over heels for you after he swallows it. However, you must do it carefully, lest you swallow the pill in front of him, or you will be the one to bow down to him.”

Situ Yi, whom Zhang Fei had enslaved, immediately raised his eyebrows. He immediately sent a transmission to his master and told him about Lian Jinshuʼs plan, but he ordered him to keep an eye on Huan Ya without stopping her.

”Senior Lian, you-” Huan Ya swallowed her words as Lian Jinshu took out a few stalks of fiery red flowers, and she looked eager to get them.

Lian Jinhua smiled faintly when he saw Huan Yaʼs expression, and he had already guessed that she would be interested in the flowers. However, he took out a pill and showed it to her, which caused her expression to turn ecstatic. Not only did she look excited, but the four male guards also appeared eager to get the pill. ”If you bring that brat to me, I will give you these sunfire orchids and this superior-grade pure essence golden pill. With their help, you can break through to the seven divine realms directly, so the decision is yours.”

After considering it, Huan Ya finally agreed to take Lian Jinshuʼs order. Moreover, Zhang Fei cultivated four major levels below hers, and she still had her unique ability, so she was confident that she could do something about him without alerting Xian Feng and his subordinates. ”I will do it, but I canʼt possibly do it quickly because those two old men are protecting him, and I will find the right opportunity first.”

Lian Jinshu smiled in satisfaction with Huan Yaʼs decision and immediately gave her a stalk of sunfire orchids to make her more enthusiastic about carrying out her duties. Unfortunately, he was still unaware that Situ Yi had already sided with Zhang Fei, and his plans had already been leaked to him.

”As for you four, I have a special task for you, and you must get the items I need, or I will report your failure to our organization.” After that, Lian Jinshu threw four scrolls, one each, to the four people. ”Go now.”

”Yes.”

After fully understanding the method, Zhang Fei immediately took out the materials to make the Heavenly Qi Convergence Array and prepared them according to what Fa Zhen had shown him. Since this was his first time trying to make a high-level intermediate array, and he only had one set of materials, he did it very carefully.

Unlike Fa Zhen, who took less than an hour to create the formation, Zhang Fei managed to create it after three hours. Although it took too long to complete, he was satisfied with the result, and they could improve their cultivation faster with the combined effects of the Heavenly Qi Convergence Array and the Yin-Yang Harmony Array. ʼHahaha! This way, I can reach the Heaven Realm faster than I originally estimated, and I will immediately bring Hu Yue to my side after I reach 10-Star.ʼ

Mei suddenly spoke to him. [Master, your beast form is falling behind your human and demon forms, and your beast essence is still less than half before you can evolve into six tails. You should start focusing on that, and you need to find some strong female beasts for it. Your easiest chance is Shen Xinya because she has been offering herself to you for a long time, but you keep rejecting her because she only wants power.]

ʼNo, I wonʼt do anything to Shen Xinya as long as sheʼs still like that.ʼ Zhang Fei shook his head in refusal. ʼSigh! Iʼve tried to woo Shen Huang too many times, but sheʼs firm in her decision not to remarry, and she would hate me if I used my new demon abilities on her, so I never used them on her.ʼ

[Hehe.] Mei suddenly laughed. [Master, you seem to have forgotten one of your demon abilities. You can use it on her to make her fall for you on her own, just like Shang Yaolin did.]

Zhang Fei let out a heavy sigh before replying to the AI. ʼI havenʼt forgotten that ability, Mei. I never used the dream imprisonment on Shen Huang because she hardly ever slept, and she kept her focus on cultivating, so it wouldnʼt be useful against her. I will see her now, but Iʼm sure she will reject me again.ʼ

”Hmm?” Shen Huang, who was cultivating in her room, immediately opened her eyes when she sensed Zhang Feiʼs presence. ”Why did you come here? Didnʼt you want to practice blacksmithing?”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed before sitting down beside Shen Huang. ”Hey, youʼve always been paying attention to me, huh? However, you keep rejecting me, even though Iʼve been courting you for the past few months.”

Shen Huang tilted her face to the side. ”Why do you want me to be your wife so badly? You already have Xueyi, Yueʼer, Boitata, Lingxue, and your big sister. They are more than enough to help you evolve, right?”

”Do you think I want you just to help me evolve?” Zhang Fei responded with a frown. ”Weʼve spent so much time together; you should already know my character. If I wanted it like that, I would have accepted Shen Xinya long ago, especially since she had already offered herself to me. As for Xueyi and the others, I chose them to be my wives not because I wanted their beast essence but because I wholeheartedly loved them.”

Shen Huang had no words to refute Zhang Fei because they had been living together for a long time, so she knew his feelings for them. Even so, she had never been interested in having a new partner, let alone the man who seduced her was the husband of her granddaughter and granddaughter.

Seeing Shen Huang fall silent, Zhang Fei immediately grabbed her hand. ”I am a lust demon, and you know that I can force you to fall for me by using my abilities. However, I have never used them on you, so you should already understand my feelings for you. I want you to become my wife, not because of your beast essence, but because I have feelings for you. I hope you can give me a chance, and I will prove my feelings to you.”

”No.” Sheng Huang immediately refused and tried to pull her hand from his grasp, but Zhang Fei held it tighter. ”I understand your feelings, but you donʼt understand mine. I have long decided not to accept other men in my life, so I hope you will stop seducing me and find other female beasts to be your wife.”

Zhang Fei did not immediately let go of Shen Huangʼs hand and looked at her thoughtfully. ”Do you want to continue living in solitary like this?”

”Yes.” Shen Huang replied with a determined nod. ”I already have a daughter, a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter. My life is complete with them by my side, so I donʼt need a husband, and I will only focus on my cultivation.”

Zhang Fei sighed heavily at Shen Huangʼs stubbornness, and he immediately used the dream imprisonment on her before letting go of her hand. ”Iʼll go now, and you can continue your cultivation.”

Shen Huang kept staring at the door, even though Zhang Fei had already left the room, and she rubbed the hand he had held earlier. ʼIʼm sorry. Youʼve helped me so much that Iʼve been able to break through to the sovereign realm, and youʼve even brought me to this realm. However, I donʼt want to feel that feeling again, so I will never be able to accept you.ʼ

After he left Shen Huangʼs room, Zhang Fei immediately went to the capital to pick up Liu Hua. It was already quite late, and he didnʼt want any trouble to happen to her in the capital, especially since Situ Yi had already informed him about Lian Jinshu and Huan Yaʼs plan.

Afterward, Zhang Fei went straight to the forging furnace and took one piece of thunderstrike alloy out of his storage ring. He then heated the furnace to the right temperature and began heating the alloy. He then took out a device and threw it on the ground, and a soundproof barrier immediately surrounded the location so that people would not be disturbed by his forging activities.

After the thunderstrike alloy softened, Zhang Fei immediately removed it from the furnace and started hammering it according to the method Gang Zhishou had taught him. He hammered the alloy carefully, adjusting his strength with each stroke.

Several senior women, such as Liu Qingyu, Shen Xueyi, and others, watched Zhang Fei forge his first equipment from a distance.

After two hours, Zhang Fei finally managed to forge his first weapon. However, he was dissatisfied with the result because it was too bad compared to the one forged by Gang Zhishou, so he immediately took out another thunderstrike alloy and repeated the process. Unfortunately, the results did not meet his expectations again, so he restarted the process.
