Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 508: The Earth Realm II

On a small, uninhabited island in the middle of the ocean, Zhang Fei was already sitting cross-legged in preparation to break through to the Earth Realm. He did not break through immediately and looked at the clear sky above him, as their warning about his breakthrough kept ringing in his mind. ʼDo you think I will face lightning tribulation, Mei?ʼ

[That might happen, Master. You may have been a good guy in the past, but the current you is completely different from the old you. Since your transformation into a demon and cultivator, you have committed numerous evil deeds, and your bad karma continues to accumulate as you progress.

Although you have helped many people, you have also caused a tremendous deal of suffering, and the number of people who have died as a direct or indirect result of your actions is simply too many. However, you donʼt need to worry too much about that, especially since youʼve been training with Lei Que for the past few weeks, and your body has become more accustomed to lightning strikes.

Besides, you also have your regenerative healing factor, so Iʼm sure that youʼll be fine.]

Zhang Fei nodded slightly. The Earth Realm sits at the middle level of the ten mortal realms, marking a significant turning point in mortal cultivation and the beginning of my true cultivation life. My body, soul, and core must absorb the purest energy from the earth to strengthen and purify them. Mei, I will start now, so you must watch this area to the farthest distance.ʼ

[Leave it to me, master.]

Once he was fully prepared, Zhang Fei immediately released his cultivation soul and four cultivation cores before starting to absorb the energy from the earth. He not only absorbed it into his body but also channeled it into his soul and four cores, causing them to vibrate violently before emitting a faint light that continued to brighten as his absorption accelerated.

On the edge of the island, Shen Xueyi, Shen Yu, Liu Hua, Liu Qingyu, Zhang Lingxue, Ye Lian, and Boitata continued to watch the sky with anxiety filling their hearts, waiting to see whether Zhang Feiʼs breakthrough to the Earth Realm would trigger a lightning tribulation or not.

To their surprise, something unexpected suddenly happened: Zhang Feiʼs cultivation soul, which was a combination of his three souls, unexpectedly separated from each other. His human soul immediately closed his eyes and crossed his legs, while his heavenly fox soul stared at the sky with arrogance in his light blue eyes, and his lust demon soul was more nonchalant about his breakthrough.

Soon, Zhang Feiʼs human soul radiates a strong red aura; his heavenly fox soul radiates a pure white aura; and his lust demon soul radiates a dark and terrifying aura. His fire core gradually glowed redder, his light core glowed whiter, his darkness core glowed blacker, and his wind core glowed greener.

Shen Xueyi arched her eyebrows in response. ”This is bad; his breakthrough might arouse the curiosity of the powerful cultivators of this realm, so we should prepare for any eventuality.”

”We canʼt possibly face them with our current cultivation, mother.” Shen Yu spoke with a panicked expression.

Liu Qingyu nodded in agreement with that. ”Feiʼer said that the cultivation of the five emperors has reached the seven divine realms, and their cultivation should already be at 5-Moon Divine Expansion. Since the Xian Kingdom is the closest to our location, Emperor Xian Feng might come here if he senses his breakthrough.”

”Even though Feng Yao said that Emperor Xian is a good person, we still have to be careful of him. Our husband is not an ordinary cultivator; his three souls and four cores are outside his body now, and he might attack her after he sees his lust demon and heavenly fox souls.” Liu Hua added as she looked at Zhang Fei.

Boitata crossed her arms over her chest and looked away, towards the Xian Kingdom. ”No matter what, we must protect our husband, and we will fight against that human emperor if he tries to attack us.”

Ye Lian did not say anything, but her sword had already appeared in her left hand, and her right hand was holding its hilt very tightly.

Zhang Lingxue immediately spoke to them. ”I will go to our husbandʼs clones first, so I can return to the Sky Jade Realm to pick up Big Sis Yao. If he protects her, Iʼm sure Emperor Xian Feng wonʼt dare to do anything to her, especially since he is much stronger than her.”

After they agreed, Zhang Lingxue rushed back to their residence in that realm, and Zhang Feiʼs clone immediately sent her back to the Sky Jade Realm. However, Feng Yao refused her request and said that Zhang Fei should be responsible for his own safety, or he would continue to rely on others, and he would never be able to face enemies who were much stronger than Emperor Xian Feng.

Although Zhang Lingxue was disappointed with Feng Yaoʼs decision, she did not force her to go to the Nine Stars Realm. Unlike his wife, Zhang Feiʼs clone had already guessed that she would not be willing to do that, so he didnʼt think too much about her rejection.

Instead, he summoned the thunderbird out of his beast space and asked Lei Que to go to the island with his wife, especially since his original body would probably need his help if he were to experience lightning tribulation.

Liu Qingyu and the others also felt disappointed after Zhang Lingxue told them about Feng Yaoʼs rejection, but they didnʼt say anything about it and continued to wait for Zhang Fei to complete his breakthrough.

Meanwhile, on a palace balcony, a young man with a tall and muscular body stood there while looking into the distance with his senses directed toward that location. However, his appearance was truly unusual, with two large blue horns similar to dragon horns on the sides of his head, and two blue wings similar to dragon wings on his back.

The young man has a quite handsome but serious face, short blue hair, and two fierce eyes with blue pupils. He wore no upper clothes, but his lower body was covered in beast skin, and his hands were covered by a pair of gauntlets.

On the young manʼs shoulder there was a small blue dragon, and it made a strange roar in his ears.

”Haha.” The young man laughed and rubbed the dragonʼs head. ”Youʼre right, Long Hai. That kid is a mythical beast, but heʼs not a dragon like us. Instead, heʼs a mythical fox beast, precisely the heavenly fox race. I donʼt know his reason for coming to this realm, but I canʼt wait to meet him.

Itʼs a pity that his strength is still too low, so the current him is not my opponent, and you can defeat him easily. However, he is not an ordinary heavenly fox, and he is an anomaly because he has three souls: a human soul, a fox soul, and a demon soul. Thatʼs why I believe he will improve much faster than the other living beings, and he might surpass me in the near future.

Once he becomes truly strong, I will invite him to spar with me.”

”What are you talking about, husband?” Suddenly, a young woman with a similar appearance to him asked as she walked towards the young man.

The young woman has white hair that falls down to her hips, but her horns are white, the same color as her hair, and her golden eyes make her pretty face even prettier. Her figure is as tall as her husband; she has attractive curves combined with wide hips and prominent buttocks, and a long white dress covered her body, highlighting her flawless body.

Long Huang, the emperor of the Beast Kingdom, immediately turned to his wife and told her about Zhang Feiʼs presence in their realm. ”Baiyun, try examining that kid with your senses, and you will definitely be surprised to see him. Maybe he will become my greatest rival in the future, but he still needs a long time to be able to match me, let alone surpass me.”

”Oh?” Long Baiyun looked surprised at her husbandʼs expression when he talked about Zhang Fei, so she immediately spread her senses towards the location. ”How can that be, husband? How can he possess three souls and four cores simultaneously? His three souls are the human soul, the fox-beast soul, and the demon soul.

Some cultivators possess dual elements, but I have never met anyone who possesses both light and darkness elements at the same time, especially since the two contradict each other.”

”His fox beast soul is clearly a heavenly fox, so it is natural that he has the light element.” Long Baiyun raised her eyebrows after Long Huang mentioned the race. ”As for his demon soul, I am certain itʼs a lust demon, as I have encountered that demon race before. I donʼt know how he can have three souls, but I can see that he is actually a full-fledged human.”

”Could it be that he inherited his heavenly fox soul and lust demon soul from someone else?”

Long Huang shook his head in rebuttal. ”At first, I had the same thoughts as you, but his three souls are not inheritances; they are his true souls.”

”Hmm?” Long Baiyun once again turned toward Zhang Feiʼs location. ”Do you think those people will feel his presence?”

”Haha.” Long Huang laughed instead. ”I can sense his presence because of his heavenly fox aura, and if it werenʼt for that, I wouldnʼt be able to sense him, so Iʼm sure the others wonʼt be able to sense his presence. However, his location is very close to the Xian Kingdom, so Xian Feng might have sensed his presence by now.

Fortunately, his character is similar to mine, so Iʼm confident that he wonʼt make a move on him, and instead he will wait for him to approach him.”

Long Baiyun nodded in agreement before asking her husband a question. ”What if we invite that kid to come to our kingdom?”

”No need.” Long Huang then hugged Long Baiyunʼs waist and led him inside. ”We donʼt need to establish a relationship with him now; let him gain experience outside, as it will be more beneficial for him. Iʼm sure he has already noticed our existence in this realm, and he will come to us sooner or later. I hope he has become formidable by then, so I can spar with him and fight him with all my might.”

Long Baiyun sighed softly as she shook her head. ”You really never change, and you always want to fight with opponents stronger than you.”

”Hahaha.” Long Huang laughed out loud. ”I am a dragon, so it is natural that I thirst for battle, right? Moreover, there are not many of them who can match my strength, except for Xian Feng, Xian Lianghua, Huangfu Shou, and Ximen Changtian. Even so, they are still inferior to me, so I hope to find opponents stronger than them, and I believe that kid is the one.”

”I know that kid is special, but I feel like your confidence in him is a bit too high.

Heʼs just about to break through to the Earth Realm, so he wonʼt be able to reach your level that quickly, and youʼll probably have to wait at least fifty years to fight him.” Long Huang didnʼt say anything in response to his wifeʼs words, instead smiling to himself, leaving Long Baiyun even more perplexed by his confidence.

”Since you have so much confidence in him, I will wait for him to come to our kingdom, and I hope he lives up to your expectations.”

”That kid wonʼt live up to my expectations for him, but heʼll exceed them.”

Above the sky of the Xian Kingdom, a middle-aged man was standing side by side with a middle-aged woman. They wore royal attire, and the aura that radiated from their bodies carried dignity and integrity. The two were the Emperor and the Empress of the kingdom, Xian Feng and Shi Qingzhuang.

As soon as Zhang Fei began his breakthrough, Xian Feng and Shi Qingzhuang immediately noticed his presence, so they right away left their palace to check on him.

”I believe he is the only living being possessing three souls and four cultivation cores.” Shi Qingzhuang softly spoke as she continued to watch Zhang Fei with a look of admiration. ”However, I am confused as to how he could have a beast soul and a demon soul, even though it is clear that he is an ordinary human like us.”

”Wife, heʼs not the only living creature with more than one soul.” Shi Qingzhuang immediately turned to Xian Feng. ”There is someone in this realm who has two souls, remember? Unfortunately, his second soul was not a good one; it influenced and transformed him into a complete evil being.

He got his second soul from an inheritance in the Star Tower, so I think that kid might be the same as him, and he also got his two souls from other inheritances.”

”I see.” Shi Qingzhuang nodded understandingly. ”That guy wasnʼt that evil back then, but he succumbed to the influence of his second soul, which was a demon soul. Do you think that kid will become like him in the future? After all, he also has a demon soul like him, so I think he might also become evil in the future.”

”The future of living creatures depends on their respective characters, and I myself am not a fortune teller, so I donʼt know whether that kid will become evil or not.” Xian Feng then looked up at the sky, which was gradually starting to darken. ”A lightning tribulation, huh? That kid must have accumulated a lot of bad karma, and the heavens want to test him now.”

”Arenʼt we going to do something about that kid? Since he provoked a lightning tribulation, he should be a bad person, right?”

”Hahaha.” Xian Feng laughed at his wifeʼs remarks. ”Wife, the lightning tribulation does not determine a personʼs character; there are various reasons for it to occur. Furthermore, you can see for yourself that the people by his side are not bad people, and they seem to be loyal to him.”

Shi Qingzhuang nodded in agreement. ”Well, thatʼs true. If I think about it, those women should be his wives, and the rest of them should be their families.”

”Thatʼs why we donʼt need to take any action against that kid; we just need to observe his progress for the time being.” Xiang Feng suddenly smiled faintly and threw an artifact, which immediately shot towards Zhang Feiʼs location, and it quickly formed a transparent barrier around the area. ”This way, that guy wonʼt be able to sense his presence, and he can break through peacefully.

Since he lives in our territory, I believe he will come to our kingdom sooner or later, and I will invite him to talk later.”

*Rumble... Rumble...*

Liu Qingyu and the others became tense as the sky darkened and lightning rumbled repeatedly above, especially since they feared that Zhang Hai would have to undergo the lightning tribulation came true. Unfortunately, they could do nothing to help him, and he had to go through his lightning tribulation by himself.

Unlike them, Zhang Fei didnʼt look the least bit worried about facing his lightning tribulation, and a faint smile appeared on his face as his body rose into the sky.

[Master, get ready; your lightning tribulation is about to begin, and those lightnings are much stronger than Lei Queʼs lightning.]

Zhang Fei didnʼt say anything in response to Mei, but instead, he transformed himself by combining his three forms as one. Additionally, he simultaneously released his human, beast, and demon auras.

*Zap... Zap... Zap...*

Instantly, a lightning bolt shot down from the sky and struck Zhang Fei directly, and his expression was completely filled with pain, causing him to spit out a mouthful of blood from his mouth.
