The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 645: Chapter 645: Advancement in Battle

”Exhilarating!”

Initially, when Jing Yan began to fight with the five puppets, his attacks were somewhat raw and sluggish.

After all, having spent a full seven years alone in the Qiankun Small World without facing another soul in combat, it was inevitable that his control over Primordial Energy would be somewhat unpolished as his Cultivation had significantly advanced.

But as the intense battle progressed, Jing Yan’s mastery over his abilities became increasingly refined.

Facing off against the five puppets, Jing Yan grew more and more composed.

Even without increasing the intensity of his attacks, Jing Yan could now handle the siege of the five puppets with ease, moving as he pleased.

His application of the Holy Light Sword Technique had become much more skilled than before.

Although there were no changes in the Martial Arts Level, his Attack Power had definitely increased tremendously.

This was normal.

Why are adventurers generally a notch stronger than the average Martial Artist?

The reason lies in the adventurer’s rich combat experience and more mature usage of their abilities. Moreover, often flirting with the edge of life and death, their sense of danger is much sharper.

That is why an adventurer’s Combat Power is generally stronger than that of a Martial Artist.

The increase in Jing Yan’s Combat Power was based on the same principle. The five puppets, all with the Combat Power of the Dao King Realm Peak, surrounded Jing Yan, which helped him practice and enhance his own strength.

”It’s about time!” Jing Yan’s eyes flickered.

He had been fighting with the five puppets for over two hours. The puppets no longer posed any threat to him; continuing the fight would only waste his Primordial Energy.

It was time to end this battle.

”Sky Wings!”

Jing Yan activated the Sky Wings.

Of course, he merely gave them a slight stir to dramatically accelerate his movement, releasing Sword Qi to sweep towards the five puppets.

The five puppets were never Jing Yan’s match to begin with, and now with his increased speed, their attacks were even less of a threat to him.

”Boom, boom, boom...”

A series of muffled sounds rang out.

All five puppets were knocked flying, collapsing onto the ground.

However, the material used to build the puppets was incredibly sturdy. Although they appeared to be severely damaged by Jing Yan, they suffered no significant harm. Only a series of sword marks were left on their surfaces, and their cores were not greatly affected. They quickly stood up again.

”I’m curious to see how many of my attacks you lifeless puppets can withstand.” Jing Yan didn’t expect that his single strike would completely destroy the five puppets, so he wasn’t surprised to see them stand up so quickly.

”Old Six, the five Copper Armor Guards are defeated!” Before the Death Temple, Old Seven’s voice grew heavier.

”That youngster is somewhat peculiar. I feel that his Combat Power has increased quite a bit while fighting the five Copper Armor Guards. At the start, they were evenly matched, but now, after more than two hours, the five puppets are completely at a disadvantage,” Old Six frowned.

”This is getting interesting.”

”It seems that boy is stronger than I thought. The Copper Armor Guards can’t hold him down. Then, it’s time for the Silver-armored Guards to take action!” Old Seven’s lips curled into a slight smile, seemingly unangered by the failure of the Copper Armor Guards.

From that massive ground fissure, heavy footsteps could be heard again. Soon, three figures emerged. These figures dashed towards Jin Yan’s position immediately after coming out of the ground fissure, much faster than the five Copper Armor Guards.

Jing Yan hesitated for a moment at that time.

Because just as he prepared to continue his attack on the puppets, those five puppets actually turned around and retreated, as if they no longer wished to battle with Jing Yan.

The actions of the five puppets sent a shiver through Jing Yan’s heart.

”Could it be that these puppets are really being controlled by someone?” Jing Yan’s gaze swept cautiously around.

Puppets have no life.

They couldn’t possibly retreat on their own initiative because of the strength of the enemy. They don’t know fear and will only continue to attack relentlessly, until they’re completely destroyed or their energy is exhausted. The current movements of the five puppets were clearly controlled.

However, he still couldn’t be certain at the moment.

”Thud, thud, thud!” Just as Jing Yan carefully searched his surroundings for any signs of surveillance.

The previous five puppets had already retreated and disappeared without a trace, but three new figures had appeared. These three new adversaries moved faster and had an even more formidable aura.

”Still puppets?” Jing Yan immediately surmised that these three new silhouettes were still puppets.

They were even more powerful than the five puppets from before.

Jing Yan felt that the color of these three puppets must differ from the previous five. Due to the absence of light in the depths of the Death Abyss, Jing Yan couldn’t determine their exact colors.

”Boom!”

Once the three puppets arrived, they didn’t hesitate at all but swung their axes, attacking Jing Yan directly.

Jing Yan was on guard, so he countered in an instant.

”Bang!”

Upon colliding head-on with a puppet, Jing Yan felt a terrifying force transmit from the puppet’s axe.

His body shook violently for a moment and then uncontrollably staggered backward. Observing the puppet again, its figure merely swayed slightly, unaffected otherwise. In just a split second, the puppet’s axe, filled with a fearsome intent to kill, swung toward Jing Yan once again.

”Such formidable strength!”

”My Primordial Energy is so profound that it’s comparable to many practitioners at the Dao Emperor Realm, yet I was forced back when clashing head-on with this puppet!” Jing Yan was also shocked.

The strength of the newly appeared puppets was obviously much stronger than the previous five.

”I’ll dodge!” Jing Yan slightly activated his Sky Wings.

The puppet in the middle missed with its axe. The other two puppets surprisingly sidestepped, attacking Jing Yan from both sides, seemingly intending to limit Jing Yan’s speed.

The speed of these three puppets was already very fast.

In the blink of an eye, the path Jing Yan could dodge to was sealed.

The puppet that had missed its axe swing just now suddenly leaped into the air, swinging its axe downwards fiercely, aiming for Jing Yan’s head.

”Such fast speed!” Jing Yan also broke out in a cold sweat.

These three puppets were somewhat strange.

They seemed to be coordinating their attacks against their enemy. Although the contact was brief, Jing Yan had already deduced that the attacks of the three puppets were united. Two of the puppets mainly bound Jing Yan while also pressing down on him, while the middle puppet was fully committed to splitting Jing Yan open.

”Let’s see just how strong you really are!” Jing Yan fiercely injected a substantial amount of Primordial Energy into his Sky Wings, his speed inexplicably soaring as he dodged the oncoming axe.
