The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 612: Chapter 612: The Strange Room [Fourth Update]

Gu Xinghe evidently knew quite a bit about this Ancient Cave Mansion.

Indeed, it was true.

The Gu Family had sent many elites into the Ancient Cave Mansion to search for treasures. Originally, they should have finished clearing the mansion by now, but unexpectedly, they were trapped by this palace for more than three months.

This palace’s treasure rooms numbered ninety-nine.

The problem was that these rooms were not fixed in location; they constantly shifted and changed. Among them, a large mechanism was hidden.

Therefore, when entering the rooms to search for treasure, people would often enter the same room multiple times.

Even if many people were searching for treasures together, it was possible for several people to enter the same room.

Gu Xinghe had also told Jing Yan all of this information.

Another fact, as Gu Xinghe had said, some rooms did not contain treasures, but instead held Combat Puppets.

Combat Puppets were a type of fighting machinery refined by Artifact Masters. They had no life but could launch fierce attacks on intruders. Since they had no life and felt no pain, their fighting was extraordinarily ferocious. Furthermore, their bodies were incredibly sturdy, making them difficult to destroy forcefully.

Many from the Gu Family had died at the hands of Combat Puppets hidden in these rooms.

It was due to various factors such as these that the Gu Family’s cleaning of these Ancient Relics had been delayed for months.

”Young Master Gu, then I will take my leave,” Jing Yan said with a smile, cupping his hands to Gu Xinghe.

Afterward, he entered a passageway leading to the interior of the palace. There were two passages, and Jing Yan had randomly chosen one to enter.

As soon as he entered the passage, he could see doors on both sides. The doors were open and could be entered with a step.

All the doors looked exactly the same; it was impossible to discern any differences between them.

After observing for a while, Jing Yan stepped into the room closest to him.

The room was not large, about twenty square meters, and near the wall, there was a golden chest.

Jing Yan walked over, casually opened it, and found it was empty.

”The contents must have been taken by the Gu Family,” Jing Yan shook his head.

After carefully checking the room and finding nothing unusual, Jing Yan took out his longsword and carved a mark ’one’ on the wall before turning to leave.

Into the second room!

After entering, Jing Yan first searched for the mark he had just made; finding none, he then surveyed the room.

”Empty!”

Leaving the mark ’two’ behind, he exited and entered the third room, inside which was another empty treasure chest.

The fourth room was empty as well.

In this manner, Jing Yan entered dozens of rooms consecutively. These rooms were either completely empty or contained only an empty treasure chest.

At first, Jing Yan still harbored some curiosity, thinking that with good luck, he might find treasures left by a great power of the Saint Realm. But gradually, Jing Yan realized that the chances of stumbling upon something in here were slim. The Gu Family had likely searched through all the rooms already, and would they have taken all the treasures they could and left anything behind?

”No wonder Gu Xinghe was so generous, putting it nicely saying that whoever finds the treasures can have them.”

”Haha, what else can I find after your Gu Family has taken everything?”

Jing Yan chuckled, but didn’t pay it too much attention. He hadn’t entered the Ancient Cave Mansion this time intending to find any treasures. If it weren’t for Gu Xinghe urging him, he might not have entered at all from the outside.

Although the hope of finding treasures was slight, Jing Yan did not stop. He still entered each room one by one. Because his curiosity was growing.

He had already entered dozens of rooms and made dozens of marks. But why hadn’t he come across a single repeated room?

As time went on, Jing Yan’s frown grew tighter.

By this point, he had entered a total of one hundred rooms and still had not seen any marks he had made.

”Strange!”

”Could it be that these rooms can restore themselves?” Jing Yan pondered inwardly.

”How goes the search, Alchemist Jing Yan?”

At that moment, Gu Xinghe’s voice came from behind.

Jing Yan turned to see Gu Xinghe and Elder Yin slowly walking toward him.

”No gains whatsoever. Although there are chests in many rooms, they are all empty. Young Master Gu, your family might have already taken all the treasures, and we’ve come here for nothing,” Jing Yan said to Gu Xinghe.

”My Gu Family has indeed searched through the majority of the rooms, but there are still some rooms we haven’t reached,” Gu Xinghe shook his head.

”Young Master Gu, are there really only ninety-nine rooms here?” Jing Yan asked again.

”It should be certain. When my Gu Family Martial Artists first came in, they obtained this; you might want to have a look,” Gu Xinghe said, pulling out a piece of Beast Skin map and tossing it to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan caught it and saw that the map depicted a floor plan of a building. It was not difficult to see that the building on the map was the palace in which he stood. According to the map, there were indeed only ninety-nine rooms.

Moreover, one of the rooms was dyed red, looking distinctly different from the others.

”I have been leaving a mark every time I enter a room, but these marks seem to disappear by the time I enter again,” Jing Yan handed the Beast Skin map back to Gu Xinghe and continued.

”That’s to be expected. If this method were possible, then my Gu Family would have turned all the rooms over long ago. It’s not just about leaving marks; even if you leave some objects in the rooms, they disappear on the second entry. My family has tried many methods, but none have worked,” Gu Xinghe shook his head.

”That really is curious,” Jing Yan said, narrowing his eyes.

”Young Master Gu, I’ll continue looking.” With those words, Jing Yan entered another room.

Gu Xinghe’s gaze flickered, and he and Elder Yin exchanged glances before also entering another room.

”Hmm?”

”Not good!”

”Boom!”

Right as Jing Yan entered, he immediately tensed, feeling a blackness before his eyes, followed by a terrible blast of wind sweeping toward him.

Instinctively, Jing Yan’s body dodged to the side.

Only then did he see that it was a black humanoid thing attacking him.

”So this is a puppet?” Jing Yan’s eyes widened, ”Such terrifying power, and its speed is extremely fast. If my Divine Soul weren’t strong and my reactions quick, I might have been killed by this thing with a single punch by now.”

”Search!”

The puppet allowed Jing Yan little time to think. After the first strike missed, the puppet’s second blow quickly reached Jing Yan’s proximity.

Jing Yan drew his longsword, vigorously activating his Primordial Energy, and fiercely launched a sword strike at the puppet.
