The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 615: Chapter 615: News of Father

Gu Xinghe and Elder Yin’s bodies swayed lightly, ready to enter the palace once more.

”Swish!”

A figure, however, charged out rapidly from the inside.

Both men were slightly taken aback to see the green figure coming head on.

”Jing Yan?” Gu Xinghe’s eyes bulged round, somewhat incredulous at the sight.

He had thought that Jing Yan, having entered the puppet room, was bound to die, yet to his surprise, Jing Yan had emerged alive and seemingly uninjured.

”Both of you, I just entered a room, and inside there was a black puppet, truly formidable. I nearly died at its hands, but luckily I could run fast,” Jing Yan said without waiting for the two to ask, letting out a breath first and then speaking.

His fight with the puppet in the puppet room could not possibly escape their notice.

Previously, only three of them were inside the palace; with Jin Yan’s loud battle with the puppet, it would be odd if Gu Xinghe and the other didn’t know something had happened.

”Haha, Alchemist Jing Yan is indeed remarkable. Many Daoist Realm Martial Artists from my Gai Family died at the hands of that puppet, yet Alchemist Jing Yan was able to emerge alive, which speaks volumes about his skill,” Gu Xinghe took a slight breath to compose himself and then burst into laughter.

Next to him, Elder Yin squinted, staring intently at Jing Yan as if trying to see right through him.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, was there a golden box in that puppet room?” Elder Yin asked with a dark tone.

”Yes, I saw that box.”

”It’s a pity that the box placed in the puppet room, guarded by the puppet, must contain something valuable, yet to see it is one thing but to get it is another,” Jing Yan said with a wry smile.

Of course, he wouldn’t tell the two that he had already taken the Divine Crystal from the golden box.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, you didn’t open the box?” asked Gu Xinghe.

”Sigh, as if it were that easy. I couldn’t even get close to the box. The puppet’s attacks were horrifying, and I narrowly escaped with my life,” Jing Yan sighed and shook his head.

”Indeed, it seems obtaining the treasure inside that box is no easy feat,” Gu Xinghe nodded.

”Yes! Young Master Gu, I think Elder Yin could try going inside. If Elder Yin can’t do it, then your Gai Family will need to send more powerful experts. I believe that the box surely contains an extremely precious treasure. Should we manage to retrieve it, it will certainly be an astonishing fortune,” Jing Yan said earnestly, looking towards Elder Yin.

What exactly was the deal with that puppet, Jing Yan couldn’t be sure at that moment. In his view, the likelihood of the puppet running out of energy wasn’t high, but why it stopped attacking him, Jing Yan couldn’t figure out at the time.

If it weren’t for the puppet’s inexplicable cessation of its attacks, it would have been improbable for Jing Yan to have had the chance to open the treasure box and take the Divine Crystal.

Now, by suggesting Elder Yin should have a try, if it could lead to Elder Yin’s death inside, under the puppet’s bombardment, all the better for Jing Yan.

”No rush! No rush!” Elder Yin didn’t respond, but Gu Xinghe was the one to wave his hand first.

”Alchemist Jing Yan, let’s settle one thing first,” Gu Xinghe’s eyes fixed on Jing Yan like a venomous snake eyeing its prey.

”What is it?” Jing Yan’s eyes, too, narrowed.

”Well, Alchemist Jing Yan, I hope you can collaborate with me. Your talent in Alchemy Dao is astonishing, and there’s a great chance for you to become a ninth-level Pill Master in the future. I, Gu Xinghe, enjoy befriending geniuses like you,”

”You should know who I am. I am a candidate Clan Leader for the Gai Family. Although there are currently two candidates within my family, I can assure you that ten years from now, the Clan Leader of the Gai Family will definitely be me.”

”If you cooperate with me, once I become the Gai Family Patriarch, I certainly won’t mistreat you.”

Gu Xinghe spoke slowly.

”Young Master Gu, as I’ve already mentioned before, I am not interested in becoming a Pill Master for the Gai Family. Of course, if you need help in the future, Young Master Gu, I can still offer my assistance,” Jing Yan shook his head.

”Very well, since Alchemist Jing Yan is determined, I won’t insist,” Gu Xinghe continued,

”Before coming here, I’ve told you, Alchemist Jing Yan, that I would share some information about your father,” Gu Xinghe’s eyes were glowing brighter.

”Your father’s name is Jing Lunnan, correct?” Gu Xinghe kept his gaze steady on Jing Yan.

Hearing this name, Jing Yan immediately tensed. His father’s name was indeed Jing Lunnan.

Gu Xinghe’s ability to mention his father’s name without hesitation indicated he might really know some details about his father.

”That’s right,” Jing Yan affirmed with a stern voice.

”Then it’s as I thought. Alchemist Jing Yan, might you show us the Qiankun Ring you have on you? It would be quite the eye-opener for us!” Gu Xinghe said with fervent eyes, as though he wanted to melt Jing Yan.

”What did you say?” Jing Yan’s heart nearly leaped out of his chest upon hearing the words ”Qiankun Ring,” shocked to the extreme. But his first reaction was to suppress the astonishment.

In just an instant, a puzzled expression emerged on Jing Yan’s face.

”Boy, stop pretending!”

”You don’t remember what your father looked like, do you?”

”Count the time; he must’ve disappeared over twenty years ago!”

”Do you know why he disappeared? It won’t hurt to tell you, it was because of the Qiankun Ring.”

”You are Jing Lunnan’s son; that Qiankun Ring is most likely in your possession. And for you to have achieved so much in Alchemy Dao and Martial Arts at your age, it must be because of the Qiankun Ring, right?” Elder Yin spoke with a chilling tone.

As he spoke, a formidable presence emanated from him, enveloping Jing Yan.

It seemed to prevent Jing Yan from escaping.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about, what Qiankun Ring!” Even though his mind was in turmoil, Jing Yan’s face betrayed nothing.

This time, he was truly astonished. To his surprise, Gu Xinghe and Elder Yin were also aware of the existence of the Qiankun Ring.

Jing Yan indeed didn’t know that the Qiankun Ring was acquired by his father, Jing Lunnan. It was his grandfather, Jing Tian, who had given it to him, without elaborating much on the matter.

Although surprised, Jing Yan felt that what Gu Xinghe and Elder Yin said was likely true. Firstly, both were aware of the Qiankun Ring. Secondly, they had no reason to lie and deceive him.

Furthermore, for a small clan like the Jing Family, it would normally not catch the attention of someone like Gu Xinghe. Not to mention Jing Yan’s father, Jing Lunnan, even the Jing Family Patriarch would definitely not be within Gu Xinghe’s field of view.

”Young Master Gu, Elder Yin! This Qiankun Ring you speak of, what exactly is it? You say my father’s disappearance is related to it; can you be more specific?” Jing Yan immediately asked further.

”Boy, you really can play dumb. But no matter how much you deny it today, it won’t change a thing,” Gu Xinghe revealed a fierce expression.
