The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 613: Chapter 613: Opening the Box【Five Updates】

Blue sword light flickered as it fiercely collided with the puppet’s twin fists.

”Bang! Bang!”

In this narrow room, energy filled to the brim. The entire space rippled with black lines, while the four walls cracked extensively.

”Thud! Thud!”

Even the puppet couldn’t withstand the force of the impact easily, stumbling back two steps.

Jing Yan, however, was sent flying backwards, slamming harshly into the wall and leaving behind a human-shaped indent.

”What terrifying strength!” Jing Yan was also shocked in his heart.

He now possessed the Peak Daoist Master Realm Cultivation, channeling his Primordial Energy with all his might. How ferocious was the might of one sword?

Yet against this puppet, he had only managed to make it retreat two steps. Looking at the puppet’s fists, his sword hadn’t left any mark on them at all.

The materials used to refine this puppet were more durable than Jing Yan had imagined.

Taking a deep breath, Jing Yan calmed the fluctuating Primordial Energy within him. The blow he had just taken wasn’t easy to handle. Fortunately, he had prepared in advance by using Primordial Energy to protect his body, which offset the majority of the impact’s force.

The remaining force was still bearable for Jing Yan. However, if it had been anyone else, it might have been difficult.

Jing Yan’s physical body’s resilience was not something ordinary Martial Artists could compare with. His body was already tough, and with the Body Refining Secret Method resulting in the Pure Yang Spirit Body, his physique could be considered on par with premium Magic Artifacts.

Even so, it was a difficult experience for Jing Yan. What would have been the outcome for other Martial Artists?

For those who hadn’t practiced any Body Refinement Secret Methods, such an impact could have resulted in death or at the very least, severe injury. Even for those who practiced Body Refinement, it was likely they would be hurt.

Seeing that it didn’t kill Jing Yan, the puppet charged fiercely again.

Puppets have no life. To stop a puppet’s attack, generally speaking, there are only two methods — one is complete violent destruction, and the other is exhausting the puppet’s energy.

Clearly, both methods were difficult.

Jing Yan’s sword had not even left a mark on the puppet’s fists. As for draining all the puppet’s energy, that would be no easy task either. It was likely that long before the puppet’s energy was depleted, Jing Yan’s own Primordial Energy would be exhausted.

”What should I do?”

Jing Yan’s figure darted about.

”Boom boom boom!” The puppet moved extremely fast, giving Jing Yan hardly any time to think. He could only resist with all his might, relying on his physical body and Body Refinement Secret Method to buy time.

”There must be something valuable inside this treasure chest!”

”This puppet is probably responsible for safeguarding this golden chest. With the puppet guarding it, the Gu Family people likely couldn’t take away the contents.”

”But... I have no time to open this chest.”

Jing Yan had noticed early on the presence of a golden chest near the inner wall.

Engaged in fierce combat with the puppet, Jing Yan had to devote all his energy just to fend off its attacks momentarily. The slightest distraction could prove extremely dangerous, let alone finding time to open the chest and take what was inside.

”Rumble!” The intense combat between man and puppet caused the entire palace to vibrate slightly.

Outside the palace.

Gu Xinghe and Elder Yin had already rushed out, both turning back to look at the massive black palace.

”Looks like that kid has entered the puppet room and is clashing with the puppet,” Gu Xinghe said with a sinister smile on his face.

”According to the information our family has, that puppet is incredibly powerful. Several Martial Artists at the Daoist Master Realm have died by its hand. There are even more who were injured,” Elder Yin nodded slightly as he spoke.

”That kid probably can’t hold on for long. If he can’t escape in time, I’m afraid he’ll die in there,” Gu Xinghe laughed, ”If that kid dies, it’ll be up to you, Elder Yin, to retrieve his body. If that thing is truly on him, he should be carrying it with him.”

”Hmm, destroying that puppet might be difficult for me, but retrieving that kid’s body should be no problem,” Elder Yin nodded.

The two of them talked as they waited for the battle inside to end.

Puppet room!

”Damn it!”

”My Primordial Energy is depleting too fast. If this continues, I won’t last much longer.”

As the intense battle raged on, Jing Yan started to panic. His Primordial Energy was profound, but now it was depleting too quickly. He had to fully resist the puppet’s attacks while maintaining the operation of his Pure Yang Spirit Body.

It had not been long before Jing Yan felt that over a third of the Primordial Energy in his Fog Vortex was exhausted.

And once over half of his Primordial Energy was depleted, he would be in danger.

”This won’t do. I must get out first. If I continue fighting like this, I might be killed,” Jing Yan thought quickly.

However, leaving the room was easier said than done. Although the puppet had no life or thought process, it deliberately blocked the doorway, clearly not interested in allowing the Martial Artist who had entered to escape.

”If I want to get out, I need to force the puppet back first. Then I’ll have a chance,” Jing Yan started to adjust his position while brewing his strongest attack.

If he pushed his Primordial Energy to its limits, combined with the Holy Light Sword Technique and Secret Techniques, he should be able to knock back the puppet two to three steps. That would give him the opportunity to escape the room.

However, adjusting his position was not easy—the puppet’s speed was simply too fast.

”Sky Wings!” Jing Yan activated his movement technique.

Jing Yan had refrained from using Sky Wings until now, because the space was too small and the advantages of Sky Wings were hard to utilise. But now that he was seeking a chance to escape, activating Sky Wings would increase his chances.

”Swoosh!” With Sky Wings activated, Jing Yan’s speed was like lightning, leaving a trail behind in the room.

”Back off!” Jing Yan bellowed, ready to unleash his gathered strike.

”Huh?”

”What’s going on? Why isn’t the puppet moving?” Just as Jing Yan was about to swing his sword, he discovered the puppet had stopped.

”Can’t be such a coincidence, can it? Could it have run out of energy?” Jing Yan frowned in thought.

With a shift in thought, Jing Yan ultimately unleashed a sword strike.

”Thud, thud, thud!” The puppet was directly sent flying back, hitting the wall and falling down. It was visible that a sword mark appeared on the chest of the puppet. The body of this puppet seemed easier to damage. After all, the puppet attacked with its fists; it must be that the material used for its fists was the most durable, far tougher than the rest of its body.

”It’s really not attacking anymore!” Jing Yan was elated.

His gaze instantly shifted to the golden box—a rare opportunity, indeed. With the puppet not launching attacks, not seizing the chance to open the box would be foolish.

With Sky Wings activated, Jing Yan’s figure flashed, and he arrived in front of the golden box, reaching out to open it.

”Whoosh!” A wave of pure energy fluctuations spread out from the box.

”This is...” Jing Yan was stunned.
