Chapter 606: Chapter 606: The Seventh Elder’s Grandson

In Jing Xi’s mind, the image of that young girl kept revolving, making him feel parched and restless.

”Waste! Such a waste!”

”Knowing that the young master is waiting, yet dawdling like that, damnable thing!”

Jing Xi kept cursing his own attendants.

He hadn’t considered the possibility of any unexpected mishaps or accidents while snatching someone. Who in Donglin City would dare meddle in the affairs of the Jing Family? Even the few more prominent families within Donglin City would definitely not intervene.

He had done this kind of thing not once or twice before, and there had never been any accidents. There wasn’t a woman he wanted that he couldn’t have.

Over the years, the number of women Jing Xi had snatched back numbered at least in the dozens. And if you added the ones who came willingly, the number would be even greater.

However, Jing Xi wasn’t very interested in the women who came of their own volition. He preferred the ones who resisted. To capture them, confine them, and slowly torment them until he tired of them and then kill them and toss them outside Donglin City. After all, Donglin City had a lot of people, what would a few dozen or a few hundred deaths matter?

And that feeling was something Jing Xi deeply cherished. His soul was twisted; it could be said that he was a pervert. Occasionally, he would reflect on his own actions, but it was only for those brief moments that he would feel conflicted. After that, he would continue his reckless behavior.

Within Donglin City, when the name Jing Xi of the Jing Family was brought up, many people clenched their teeth in hatred. But they did not dare to take revenge, at most they would just curse Jing Xi behind his back, hoping he would come to a bad end sooner or later.

Inside the Jing Family Council Hall.

Clan Leader Jing Chengye and the numerous elders of the Jing Family were all trembling; with heads bowed, they barely dared to meet Jing Yan’s eyes.

They still had no idea why Jing Yan was so furious. They also didn’t know the identities of the old man and the young girl who had returned with Jing Yan.

In the tense silence, Jing Yan’s voice rang out.

”Donglin City has undergone major changes!”

”In a few years’ time, to see Donglin City develop to this extent, the Jing Family flourish like this, I am very satisfied. If Grandfather is watching from heaven, he would certainly be comforted,” Jing Yan said slowly.

His voice was somewhat deep, and this deepness made the heart of Jing Chengye and the others grow even more panicked.

”Jing Yan, I want to know, why are you so angry?” Jing Chengye took a deep breath, lifted his head, and looked at Jing Yan.

”Why am I so angry?” Jing Yan’s mouth curved with a cold smile.

”Clan Leader, in the midst of the Jing Family’s growth, have any problems arisen?” Jing Yan immediately asked.

”Problems?”

”It doesn’t seem like there are any issues. In Donglin City, our Jing Family’s advantage is very clear. We can say that we have complete control over the entire region of Donglin City. Other powers simply do not have the strength to challenge the Jing Family, nor do they dare provoke us,” Jing Chengye responded without grasping Jing Yan’s meaning, assuming that Jing Yan was asking if the Jing Family had encountered any trouble.

”Yes, the family has developed smoothly over the past years.”

”There haven’t been any major difficulties or obstacles,” several of the older elders added.

”Hmph, I’m not talking about whether the family has encountered difficulties or obstacles; I’m asking if any of the Jing Family Disciples have committed atrocities in Donglin City!” Jing Yan snorted coldly.

”Ah?” Jing Chengye and the others were stunned.

”Jing Yan, that shouldn’t be possible. Although our Jing Family is the overlord of Donglin City, our family rules have always been strict, and we do not allow disciples to bully others outside using their position,” Jing Chengye said, shaking his head.

”Is that so?” Jing Yan laughed.

”Yan’er, tell us, who was it that under broad daylight, on the main street, tried to forcefully take you away?” Jing Yan turned to look at the young girl Yan’er.

”They were Jing Xi’s attendants,” Yan’er replied without any trace of shyness.

Facing so many important figures of the Jing Family, she still managed to speak out boldly. The girl’s courage was indeed not small, much stronger than her grandfather’s. At this moment, the old hunter was hiding on one side, not daring to show his face. If it weren’t for Jing Yan standing in front, he would probably have run away long ago.

”What did those thugs intend to do?” Jing Yan asked again.

”They wanted to take me away and kill my grandfather,” Yan’er continued.

”Did you wish to go with them?” Jing Yan’s gaze grew colder and colder.

”I didn’t want to go with them, but they refused to let me go,” Yan’er shook her head.

”Clan Leader, all the elders, did you all hear that?” Jing Yan then looked toward Jing Chengye and the others.

”This is impossible!”

”How could the Jing Family Disciples possibly do such a thing?”

”It can’t be, there must be some misunderstanding. Miss Yan’er, could you be mistaken about our Jing Family Disciples?” Jing Chengye also looked at Yan’er.

”Misunderstanding?”

”Hehe, Clan Leader! I saw this with my own eyes! What, you think I’m lying?” Jing Yan’s voice grew sharp.

”Jing Yan, Jing Xi is also one of the more outstanding disciples within the family. At a young age, he has stepped into the Innate Realm; how could he do such a thing? Right, did you see Jing Xi there too?” Jing Chengye said.

”I didn’t see Jing Xi, but those thugs were his attendants. Without his orders, would those thugs dare to do such a thing?” Jing Yan said in a cold tone.

”Where are those scoundrels? These damned things, daring to impersonate Jing Family Disciples and commit evil, they absolutely cannot be forgiven! We must capture them and interrogate them thoroughly to clear Jing Xi’s name!” The Seventh Elder of the Jing Family interrupted.

The Seventh Elder, also a senior among the Jing Family elders and holding a high position within the family, had another identity – he was Jing Xi’s grandfather, Jing Shanqu’s father.

Upon hearing Yan’er mention Jing Xi, his heart skipped a beat, then a chill rose. Because he knew that if Jing Yan sought to deal with Jing Xi, even he would have no power to stop it.

Jing Xi was his only grandson; naturally, he didn’t wish to see Jing Xi punished by the family’s laws.

”Seventh Elder, those thugs have been killed by me. Their existence was a scourge to the world,” Jing Yan said to the Seventh Elder, with complex emotions.

The Seventh Elder was old, and his Life Span wasn’t much longer. Jing Yan could sense the Death Qi on the Seventh Elder. He knew that the Seventh Elder probably wouldn’t live more than a few years before dying a natural Death.

If possible, he really didn’t want the Seventh Elder to see his own grandson die. However, Jing Xi’s actions had completely crossed Jing Yan’s bottom line. Jing Yan could not let Jing Xi off; if Jing Xi was really as unredeemable as the outside world said, then he would not spare Jing Xi’s life, no matter who begged for mercy.

”Jing Yan, this matter might really be the fault of those thugs, and Jing Xi himself might not even know,” Jing Chengye said with furrowed brows.
