Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1998: Chapter 2000: Unable to Let Go

That night, Chiang Qing and Bi Xiaojin sat silently facing each other, the window showing a full moon hanging high, its cold, clear light pouring onto the ground.

Bi Xiaojin hugged Chiang Qing from behind, holding her tightly, and said in a low voice, ”It’s not that I don’t want to stay with you, but compared to losing my life and seeking revenge, I want more to be with you forever. I want to grow old with you, even if it means living a life of compromise and sneaking around, as long as we’re together, that’s enough! I don’t wish for anything else, even if we never have a child, I’m willing, as long as you’re here it’s fine!”

Chiang Qing said nothing, only feeling a sudden wetness on her neck.

”Qingqing, isn’t life the most important thing? We’re alive, we can breathe, see the sun and moon; isn’t it good to live in this world?” Bi Xiaojin continued.

Chiang Qing’s tears fell too.

Living furtively, sneaking around like a thief, frightened of being discovered, what’s good about living like a mouse?

Others, openly, joyfully with smiling faces, but not herself, instead bearing a lifetime of pain, what’s good about living like that?

She didn’t want to live anymore!

”The taste of life being worse than death, you don’t understand!” Chiang Qing said, looking at the moonlight, softly, ”The feeling of having no heart, you don’t understand either.”

”Let go, let’s let go!”

”I can’t let go! Bi Xiaojin, I already don’t have a heart anymore, my heart has long stopped beating, do you know?” Chiang Qing said faintly.

Bi Xiaojin held her tighter, ”I’ll help you find it back!”

Chiang Qing said nothing, only thinking, even if she dies, she’ll take some people down with her.

Those with ability can’t be moved, but what about those without?

She didn’t believe she couldn’t move them even if she exhausted herself, she didn’t believe Heaven would be so unfair to her.

She didn’t believe it.

Chiang Qing closed her eyes, letting the man behind speak until he was hoarse, not responding even with a word.

He doesn’t understand!

The next day, Bi Xiaojin brought Cheng Su to the temple on the mountain to listen to the monks chant.

A wave of sound calms people down, but Chiang Qing looked at the compassionate Bodhisattva and Buddha, feeling not a bit of peace in her heart.

If there are gods in this world, why do they turn a blind eye to everything happening to her, why such unfairness?

She turned her eyes away, yet Bi Xiaojin insisted on dragging her to draw a fortune slip, and then took it to interpret the text.

It was an elderly monk, Chiang Qing sat like a wooden statue, as if worldly affairs had nothing to do with her.

The interpreter glanced at her, then at the slip of paper, slowly opening his mouth, his voice hoarse as if it came from the edge of the sky.

”A prophecy marked for three lifetimes, cause from a past life, effect in this life. The cycle of cause and effect, turning endlessly, only by letting go can one be reborn, dear benefactor...”

Chiang Qing, as if not hearing it.

Bi Xiaojin made a donation, then pulled Chiang Qing away.

Chiang Qing looked back once, the interpreter was no longer there, she couldn’t help but curl her lips in a cold smile, all that talk of past lives and present effects, nonsense, she only believes in herself.

Bi Xiaojin saw her quiet demeanor, couldn’t help but sigh with relief, indeed, they had come to the right place.

For the next two days, he took Chiang Qing to listen to the chants, even considering becoming a lay disciple, learning to cultivate together.

However, on the fourth day, when he returned from shopping, he found Chiang Qing gone, a piece of paper pressed on the table: ”Forget me, I left some money, find yourself a good woman and marry her!”

She had left!

”Chiang Qing!” The paper in his hands fluttered to the ground, Bi Xiaojin shouted, rushed out the door.
