Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1977: Chapter 1979: Always Be Wary of Others

Fei Yin staying over at the Cheng family was explained to Father Cheng and Mother Cheng as her having some business to discuss with Cheng Su and also to hang out, so she stayed with the Cheng family for the time being. As for living arrangements, there wasn’t much space, so they rented an empty room in the courtyard for her to live in, and during the day, she would play with Qi Xiaoqi and them.

But this made Mother Cheng suspicious. She said it was to do business with her daughter, but looking at this Miss Fei, how come it seems like she’s here to take care of Xiao Qi? During the day, she only plays with Xiao Qi and even tells them to go out and have fun while she looks after the child herself.

Is this how people do business? With such a playstyle, they wouldn’t even earn ten cents!

The more Mother Cheng thought about it, the more it felt off. Was there something going on here? She quietly asked Cheng Su.

Cheng Su replied, ”It’s nothing. She just had a quarrel with her lover and came to relax. She’s been staying with us these past few months. I’m about to graduate and preparing to move to Guangcheng, so she volunteered to help me take care of Xiao Qi. They get along well.” She couldn’t possibly reveal the real reason, lest it scares them.

”Is this reliable?” Mother Cheng asked.

Cheng Su laughed, ”Mom, if it’s unreliable, why did you let her in in the first place? If she really meant harm, she would’ve acted on the first day!”

Mother Cheng awkwardly responded, ”I thought she seemed kind and is a friend of yours, I couldn’t just leave her outside the door, right?”

Cheng Su seized the chance to teach her mother about safety consciousness, ”Just because someone says something, you believe it? Con artists have many tricks, often appearing harmless but can deceive people into losing everything in an instant. So, mom, you must stay vigilant. Just because they say they’re our friends, you should confirm with us first. Especially if someone unfamiliar says they’re entrusted by us to take the child somewhere or do something, you need to confirm with us first, don’t just hand someone over without knowing.”

”Then is this Xiao Fei a good person?” Mother Cheng broke into a cold sweat.

Cheng Su laughed again, ”Of course she is. Don’t be fooled by her small stature, she’s an instructor! I was just using this to remind you to stay alert.”

Mother Cheng patted her chest, ”That’s good. Just hearing you say this already makes me feel scared.”

”In any case, we should not harbor intentions to harm others, but we should always be cautious. It doesn’t hurt to be more vigilant and think things over carefully,” Cheng Su said.

”Alright, alright, you’re so capable.” Mother Cheng gave her an annoyed look and said, ”I was just asking, and you took the chance to give mom a lecture.”

Cheng Su affectionately snuggled her mother’s arm, acting spoiled, ”Mom, you’re my dearest mother, even if you gave me the courage of a bear and the heart of a leopard, I wouldn’t dare lecture you. I’m just talking about the current societal situation, there are too many bad people out there.”

”Go on, acting spoiled like that is embarrassing,” Mother Cheng gave her a gentle push and sighed, ”But you’re right, the public security isn’t great nowadays, better to be cautious.”

”Yeah, yeah.” Cheng Su added that since Fei Yin is currently preoccupied with Xiao Qi, she and Father Cheng could go out and relax if they wanted.

”She’s a guest, how can you treat her like a nanny? You’re so rude.” Mother Cheng chastised jokingly.

Cheng Su chuckled, ”Wherever you go, it won’t be a problem!” She let out a sigh of relief, finally smoothing over the situation.
