Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1149: Chapter 1150: The United Front of the Cheng Family

While Mother Qi was speaking, she didn’t realize this was the Cheng family, not the Qi family, and all those standing here were Cheng family members.

The first one who couldn’t listen anymore was Cheng Zhi. He couldn’t help but say, ”Dear mother-in-law, even if my sister wants to borrow money, she must have her reasons. Besides, if she’s daring enough to borrow, she can definitely pay it back. You’re exaggerating, saying she’ll burden the whole Qi family!”

This is outrageous!

Mother Qi glared, saying, ”You brat who’s not fully grown, how many days have you lived to know anything? What’s being debt-free is like having a lightweight body; with debt, you’ll never stand straight in your life. What, just because she says she can, she can pay it back? Unlike a few hundred or thousand, we’re talking tens of thousands. In this life, who can earn that much?”

Cheng Zhi sneered and said, ”I don’t dare say whether the Qi family can earn it, but my sister certainly can.”

”Cheng Zhi!” Father Cheng mildly reprimanded.

Cheng Zhi puckered his lips.

Mother Qi was so angry her mouth twisted. This little brother-in-law was just like his sister, same attitude.

”If she can earn, why borrow?” Mother Qi snapped. ”Isn’t it because she has big ambitions?”

”Borrowing money must have a purpose. Who would borrow for no reason? As for earning it back, haven’t you seen how my sister’s business is doing?” Cheng Zhi argued. ”Don’t always say my sister harms your Qi family. Since she married in, how many hardships has she endured? Whereas your Qi family, you’ve been enjoying more day by day. Qi Fengping and Qi Jianguo’s clothes have increased each year, haven’t they? Before my sister married in, how long did you all wear a patched-up piece of clothing?” Cheng Zhi mocked.

He couldn’t stand the old lady’s attitude, benefiting yet pretending to be honorable!

”You, you... that money comes from my son!” Mother Qi grinded her teeth in anger, but saying this made her feel guilty.

”Brother-in-law’s monthly allowance is only a few tens of yuan, could that buy so many clothes? Could that buy such good food? Isn’t it all from my sister’s business earnings?” Cheng Zhi snorted. ”Spending the money my sister earns and claiming she harms your family, what’s that logic?”

Father Cheng glanced at his son, with a hint of pride in his eyes.

His two children always quarreled when they were young, even as adults, but since Susu married, they got better, and his son now knows to defend his sister.

”Fine, you’re all articulate, sharp-tongued as ever.” Mother Qi couldn’t win the argument, so she just glared daggers at him.

”Dear mother-in-law, don’t say just because my sister wants to borrow money that you’ll forsake her as a daughter-in-law. Such a fortune-maker, even if your Qi family doesn’t want her, many others would. Can you find another daughter-in-law as capable of making money?” Cheng Zhi continued, ”Even if my sister borrows money and can’t pay it back, it won’t be your Qi family repaying, I’m here as her brother to help her pay it back!”

”And us two brothers!” chimed in the two kids from the third uncle’s family, thumping their chests.

Cheng Zhi looked at them and nodded. In times like these, the Cheng family must stand united against outsiders.

Mother Qi was stunned looking at these few teenagers in front of her. Suddenly she realized, Cheng Su isn’t without support, her own family backs her, and she won’t be bullied that easily.

”Fine, so what if she can earn money? My son is still a battalion commander, and many women want to marry him, ones with money and status. Hmph!” Mother Qi huffed loudly and was about to leave.

Father Cheng, having watched enough, stopped her and said, ”Mother-in-law, the young ones are naive and just talking, don’t take it to heart. But as for borrowing money, I think we should see what Taiguo thinks, don’t you agree?”
