The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 299: Union of the Countries

”We should act now! While we waste time here, those things are attacking!” One of the people at the table speaks angrily as we watch the recordings.

”We cannot be reckless in such a complicated situation,” another one says, but you can tell he can’t stay calm himself.

”...” I just watch the recordings analyzing this situation, it’s been 3 days since the ”goddess” started attacking people and broadcasting everything live, at some point she just abandoned the live stream and disappeared.

And even though she disappeared, the attacks from those monstrous shadows continued, moreover, a giant black egg appeared in the middle of the ocean one day after she disappeared, lines made of shadow like a big spider web connected this egg to the clouds and the ocean floor, keeping the egg suspended at a depth of 100 meters under the ocean.

And the egg is so big that even being 100 meters under the ocean, part of the tip is visible and detectable through satellites.

And of course, during these 3 days that we have not decided anything, several countries have been attacked, at least more of those things have not appeared, so we are only dealing with the ones that already exist.

It was considered several times to use nuclear weapons, however, it is difficult to do so without being sure of its functionality and because they are very spread out, besides of course, being in urban areas.

”Everyone pay attention for a moment!” The minister of Japan speaks, drawing attention, he has big dark circles under his eyes and looks extremely tired, which makes sense since his country was the first to be attacked and practically wiped out.

”When the ’goddess’ disappeared our radars detected something passing above hypersonic speeds over Japan and heading for the ocean falling approximately in the egg area, that’s why we believe the ’goddess’ is located there.”

”Furthermore, through some research, we found a strange source of energy emanating from within the survivors of Japan, China also reported this and neighboring countries reported the same thing.”

”It seems that what the goddess said about granting some kind of power was really true, and the monsters are really avoiding natural areas and focusing entirely on urban areas with large numbers,” the minister speaks with an English that is not perfect, but completely understandable.

”So far, we can judge that what she said in the transmission is true, which also means that she will not stop until she lowers the number of living humans to a very low percentage.”

”And why does that matter?” The Russian envoy speaks irritably, so far what the minister of Japan said are practically obvious facts that do not help at all, besides, Russia is currently having problems with that giant shark.

”What matters is the fact that we know exactly what that ’goddess’ wants, so we know exactly what she will do, it is not difficult to plan something if you know the steps the enemy will take,” the minister of Japan speaks annoyed with the interruption.

”What do you think will come out of that egg? The navy has already been there and is supervising, but missiles did not even scratch that thing.”

”Whatever comes out of that egg is not good for anyone, and we can’t even study the bodies of the monsters that died because they simply disintegrate.”

”We don’t know the enemy’s weakness, we don’t even know how many of them there are currently, I think at least knowing what they will do helps, their route is obvious, they are just going to the largest number of humans nearby that they can find.”

”It means that countries farther away from Japan will be the last.” The minister speaks looking at me, currently everyone came to the United States because it is far enough from the attacks, so it is obvious that he meant that here will be one of the last places attacked.

”This is not so certain,” I answer him.

”...What do you mean?” He questions.

”Our radars detected that these things are already in some of our cities underground, but they have not done anything yet, they seem to be waiting, your idea that they attack what is closer is wrong.”

”... I would say they are attacking what they consider biggest, as they are currently focusing on Russia.” The minister thinks for a moment about what I said.

”... It could be,” he says reviewing some papers, the silence in the room is uncomfortable, we don’t even know what they are really doing.

Nothing we do has a great effect, be it fire, explosions, poison, toxic gases, or even heavy weapons, we can kill some of them, but mainly because they received great damage and not because what we used was effective.

The military waste to kill just one is too great, and the worst part is that we have only killed some of the small ones, we cannot deal with the big ones like those dragons and the large shark.

Moreover, they seem to be getting smarter, the large shark initially moved from one area to another alone which made it easier to limit the destruction.

However, on the second day, it started ”carrying” the other monsters inside its mouth, and when it arrived at a location, it opened its mouth allowing the others to leave, which increased the chaos and destruction.

And this is bad because it shows autonomy, one of our discussions was if when killing the ’goddess’ they would stop since they seemed to come from her, but the fact that they act alone shows that they are independent living beings separate from the ’goddess,’ so her death would not solve the entire problem it would just prevent more from appearing.

”Does anyone have any ideas?” One of the envoys from another country asks.

”We can try a Tsar Bomb,” the Russian envoy speaks, getting everyone’s attention.

”...” It’s not a bad idea, but it’s not good either, this bomb has too much destructive power, everyone understands that he wants to use it on the egg in the ocean, but the destruction it causes is too great.

The shockwave from this bomb can literally go around the planet 3 times, and the heat is so intense that everything within a radius of 100km is burned.

And it is precisely because it has so much destructive power that it is an option to be used on the egg, everyone here judges that the ’goddess’ is the one inside the egg since she disappeared when the egg appeared.

And she abruptly ended the live stream as if it was not her own decision, but a forced decision, since by the personality she showed throughout the recording it was obvious that she is an arrogant and proud being and would want to end the live stream in a different way.

”And if it doesn’t work?” Someone raises the question that we have been discussing the most, the egg is not far from one of the countries, we deduced that it is about 79km away from the nearest country.

That is, if this bomb is used, in addition to the obvious structural damages that will occur, if there are survivors, everyone will die due to the heat or suffer some damage from the shockwave and the flash of the bomb.

And of course, the closest country is Japan, so if the minister of Japan does not approve the use of this weapon, we cannot simply override his decision, after all, it is uncertain if it will work and it will cause even more damage to his country.

”Is this bomb ready to be launched?” The minister of Japan questions.

”A call and it will be active,” the Russian envoy speaks while the option really seems viable, if at least the ’goddess’ dies, many of the problems would decrease and morale would be elevated.

”Okay, just wait two hours for the navy to move away from the egg,” the minister of Japan speaks while the Russian envoy makes a call, with that we all wait in the room.

No one says anything, the atmosphere is tense among us, the situation is an emergency never seen before, in addition, the Tsar Bomb is a hydrogen bomb so we know well the damages it causes.

There are even stipulations that the use of several would cause a nuclear winter, so its use is extremely limited, and this shows the urgency of the situation since we opted for it.

It took 3 days just to decide if it should be used, the casualties already amount to nearly 1 billion and the damages only increase, it is truly complete madness.

Who would have imagined that a goddess would be a common enemy of the world, we can only hope that she is not resistant to an attack of this magnitude.

And a few hours later, everything is ready, satellite cameras are recording while the navy has moved away, the minister of Japan also warned the survivors to try to go as far as they can in search of resistant shelters to avoid being affected by structural damage.

”...” All of us watch the television, and the radar quickly shows an object passing through the radars, it is the modified bomber carrying the Tsar bomb, we just watch this difficult decision happening.

Soon the plane drops the bomb as tension in the room increases, we watch the bomb fall, several minutes pass, but nothing happens.

”...”

”She...” Everyone in the room falls silent watching this absurd scene, the shadows around the egg that serve to sustain the egg in the water and prevent it from sinking held the missile, completely covered it, and contained the explosion.

An explosion with a shockwave that can travel three times around the globe did not even escape, the flash, the radiation, the explosion, everything was contained.

”...” The room falls into a dead silence, this is literally one of the most powerful weapons in the world, and it was stopped as if it was nothing, the shadows of the egg did not even receive damage.

Despair quickly grips the room, it seems that the ’goddess’ was not just boasting a heavy title, she has the power to sustain the weight of that title.

And with that, it is obvious, regardless of the weapon used there is no way to harm that, maybe if several were launched near instead of directly on top the effect would reach the egg.

But if the shadows managed to defend the egg, using several would only cause more problems to ourselves, now all that is left is to think about what to do now that the worst has happened.
