The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 258: Conversation with Violet about the Fight

”Pandora is listening to me!” Violet speaks to me again while I’m reading my book, honestly this is annoying, she won’t stop trying to get my attention even though I’m ignoring her.

I’m too busy trying to automate the process of protecting myself from debuffs for my fight against the heroes.

”What do you want, Violet?” I ask irritatedly with this, since I’m a temporary teacher, my schedule is quite flexible, so I only need to teach tomorrow if I want to, so I’m kind of free.

”It’s Mesumari! And that human you like! They’re agitated, it seems they noticed your fight against that hydra and decided that’s enough for you to fight them!”

’Oh...this...is unexpected’ I didn’t imagine Mikael would already be boiling to fight me, this can complicate things, I doubt he’s the patient type.

”Violet, how do you know this?” I ask curiously.

”Hmfh! A woman with secrets is a more interesting woman!” She speaks all proudly.

”...You affect fate, don’t you? So that must be why” I say, crushing her pride.

”Y-You!! It’s not quite like that, okay! It has nothing to do with that, besides, I know I’ll be important in this fight, without me you could never deal with Mesumari!” Violet speaks all pompously.

Unfortunately, Violet is right, I don’t know Mesumari’s strength well, but I’ve seen a bit of what that sword can do, and the damage it causes with simple strikes is terrifying.

I even feel like I can fight against Mikael and we’d be equal in general powers and attributes, which is impressive considering Mikael is human and I’m the Demon King, which kind of makes Mikael an anomaly.

However, although I can fight Mikael as an equal, it’s impossible if he decides to use Mesumari, which is a Special Grade weapon and also one of the fragments of the Primordial Goddess.

If I want to fight him and match that sword, I absolutely need a sword of the same level, and naturally, that sword would be Violet, who also has the same grade as Mesumari.

The real problem is that Violet needs an external weapon to manifest, and external weapons are weak.

”Violet, have you regained all your power?” I ask, putting away the book I’m reading and picking up another.

”Yes, I already have all my power! Thanks to the mana you’ve been constantly delivering to me in the last few months, I was able to regain the power I should have...and now that I have a wielder, I’ve even surpassed the power I had before.”

”The biggest problem is just that...” She speaks a bit sadly, I wonder what she’s going to say.

”A-And I got stuck...in the small form...It’s all your fault! I would never have gotten stuck in this Loli form if you hadn’t asked to see my humanoid form before I had all my power!” She speaks agitated while blaming me.

”...Explain better?” I speak, almost unable to hold back the urge to laugh, so it seems she’ll be a Loli forever.

”The first form we assume is apparently fixed...a-and then I can’t change forms after manifesting once for you...” She really tells me what only makes everything more hilarious.

”Of course, of course, it’s totally my fault that I have an arrogant sword who thinks she’s too smart, but has the same IQ as an animal,” I say, insulting her a bit.

”At least I’m not a psychopathic nymphomaniac lunatic!”

”Haaa...I don’t know how you found out about Mikael and Mesumari, but could you let them know to give me 1 week? In one week I’ll meet them in the desert closest to the kingdom to fight,” I say while picking up another book because the one I was reading wasn’t the right one.

”...I can tell them yes...Pandora, do you really believe you can use me correctly this time? Your training idea seemed too crazy to work, and even though it worked, there’s no guarantee it will work against Mesumari,” Violet speaks worriedly.

She can be quite arrogant and snobbish, but the fact is that we like each other, we’ve been connected for a long time, and although she’s quite talkative, she clearly cares about me, basically a Tsundere who won’t admit it.

”Yes, I think it will work.” We both trained something to overcome this weakness that Violet has, since Violet always needs to connect to a physical sword previously, I had a bold idea to overcome this problem.

The biggest problem with this is that my fighting style was trained through constant weapon switching, I trained various different styles to create a new one, but since I’m always changing weapons, Violet wouldn’t have time to fully adapt to the new weapon.

Making her weak and unable to compete with Mesumari, which could cause my death in combat.

And so during my training with various weapons and with Violet, I had a great idea, and the idea even worked in training, but applying it in battle could end up failing, so it’s a risky bet.

”Pandora, please don’t die in this fight, I know you love Mikael, but Mikael doesn’t love you, he just wants to fight you, and he clearly will attack to kill you,” Violet speaks seriously.

”Hahaha, are you worried about me?” I laugh at her.

”Yes...I am,” This takes me by surprise, I didn’t think Violet would admit that, it shows how serious she is.

”If I die, you’ll come with me either way, don’t worry so much, I’ll win even if I have to cheat in every possible way,” I say with a little smile.

I wouldn’t accept losing so easily, I will win even if I have to fight in the most treacherous way possible.

”Okay, then Pandora, it’s better to come out victorious! Remember that you’re the only one who would lose if Mikael kills you, for him it won’t make a difference, but obviously you don’t want to kill him.”

”Do you think that matters?” I say arrogantly.

”In a fight between us, I’ll also fight to kill him, he’s strong, I know he’ll come out alive, I may even love him, but I value my life,” It’s not worth dying just to not kill him, if the situation reaches the extreme, I won’t be able to hold back and I’ll use attacks to kill him.

Just like in my fight against Lilith, where I stopped holding back and started using attacks to kill her because she was also fighting to kill.

”Well, if you put it that way, I’m even more confident in your victory, and don’t worry so much! If we’re killed by Mesumari, we’ll cease to exist.”

”...”

”What the fuck kind of positive side is that?” I speak indignantly, how can she see this as a positive side, isn’t that literally worse than dying? There’s no way being completely erased can be good.

”Hmm, I didn’t say it was a positive side, I said not to worry because we would stop existing if we were killed, it’s actually terrible! But it’s the most realistic that could happen.”

”...That’s terrifyingly frightening! It makes me truly uneasy, but I have a week to prepare, I think I can try to predict how Mikael will fight as the fight progresses.”

”...Is that your plan? Fight him counting on an adaptation that may not happen in time? WHAT A TERRIBLE PLAN! IT’S LITERALLY HAVING NO PLAN AT ALL!” She yells at me as she understands the logic behind it.

”You’re right, it’s simply having no plan, but tell me, after that fight against Mikael in the past, do you think any plan would work? Understand that plans only work against common enemies.”

”Someone like Mikael would cut our plans in an instant, there’s no plan that works against the devastating attacks of Mesumari,” I still remember the horizon simply disappearing with Mikael’s attack, leaving only a bottomless hole.

”Besides, I’m not afraid of death, and I’m no longer afraid of the power Mikael has, he may be oppressive, but now I have as much power as that.” I say it with conviction.

”And why?” Violet questions curiously why I have so much confidence.

”Because I have you with me, and I trust in your strength.” It’s undeniable that she’s talkative, annoying, and very arrogant, but when it comes to being reliable, she can be undeniably reliable.

And now that she has all her power and is even stronger, we can use her powers without many problems, so now Violet can affect fate more easily than in the past.

”Hmm...okay, I’m going, I’ll let Mesumari know that...”

”AHA!” I interrupt her.

”That’s how you found out about Mikael and Mesumari wanting to fight soon!”

”...N-No! Wait, don’t jump to conclusions!” She speaks all nervous.

”So you’ve been inviting Mesumari to your ’home’, haven’t you? I would normally get irritated that you’re letting someone into the seal on my hand, but I understand that Mesumari is Mikael’s sword, so I allow it.”

”You can have your girlfriend,” I tease her a bit, since Mesumari has shown interest in Violet.

”SHE’S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!” Violet yells all nervous, but I ignore it with a laugh that makes her more irritated, and she disappears.

’I wonder how Mesumari can enter the seal on my hand...’ It’s something curious, but I won’t think about it too much, I turn my attention back to the book in my hands, I have 1 week until my fight against Mikael, I think that’s enough time.

For now, I’ll focus on my study against debuffs and tormenting the heroes a bit, as well as talking to the saint.
