The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 277: Conclusion of the Fight

I can feel his mana advancing with extreme speed, the scenery changes completely, the entire area behind Mikael is shattered, collapsing the pillars and throwing them away.

As I prepare to withstand the blow, in an instant he cuts the entire distance between us, appearing right in front of me, moving Mesumari in a vertical downward slash.

I move my hands and slightly tilt my body as the sword descends, if I don’t hold it now I’ll be split in two from top to bottom, but I’m able to match the speed and the Mesumari’s blade touches my gauntlets.

The moment they make contact, I close my hands, gripping the blade as our mana collides with each other, the shockwave makes a strange deafening sound.

While black and red lightning spreads from my mana and Mikael’s mana, which has a darker and more murderous tone instead of the purple hues that Mesumari and Violet have.

The ground in the area where I am remains intact due to my mana, but our surroundings are shattered to such a degree that even on the visible horizon the ground cracks and the pillars fly away.

The pressure of the blow is extremely heavy and I really feel like I’m going to die from this violent impact, which is largely absorbed by the gauntlets and the rest is redistributed through my body.

The gauntlets hold up without a single scratch, but my arms start to bleed and I feel my bones turning into fragments due to the impact.

”J-Just a little more” The extremely violent mana wave released by the impact is the worst, I feel tired and with extreme pains throughout my body, it’s as if my organs were put in a blender without any protection.

Blood drips from my eyes, nose and mouth due to the damage to my brain, maybe I should have tried to make armor, although if I had made armor the gauntlets would be weaker and might not be able to withstand and dissipate the impact efficiently.

It’s unfortunate not to have great resistance, fortunately my regeneration is handling it well along with the adaptation, Mikael and I are practically locked in position.

The mana release prevents us from moving anywhere else, so Mikael can only continue to press the blade down and I can only try to push it up.

I use the shadows to replace the function of my bones, keeping me in the current posture and not falling limp to the ground.

My mana against Mikael’s released by the impact forms almost a red and black division between us, and the continuous damage even prevents the environment from restoring itself.

The collision of mana is like two monsters trying to compete in strength to see who will yield first, but this is where I start to gain an advantage, the mana reacts differently for each one depending on various factors.

Like race, feelings and the user’s will, as a proud, violent and bloodthirsty monster, I have an extremely dense and heavy aura, the density of my aura is so great that when combined with gravity magic, it can kill opponents by crushing them with the effect of gravity not being so great.

And in the future with 100% power, I believe I will be able to kill opponents just by releasing my mana in this way, and Mikael, although he has a violent, brutal and strong aura, it is much less dense because he is human.

It is more rigid, while mine is more malleable, and in this, mine begins to overlap his, reducing the damage I receive from the collision until my aura begins to ”devour” his, gaining more and more space.

The collision begins to diminish and the impact is reduced by more than 70%, making it much easier to hold the blow, even though I’m already badly injured, and after what seemed like an eternity, the blow comes to a complete stop with me holding his sword.

”...” I pull it from Mikael’s hands, although I can’t hold on much longer, so I let the sword fall to the ground, disarming Mikael who no longer has the strength to hold the sword.

”You dropped your sword,” I tell him, something that is important for a swordsman.

”...Yes,” He says as I see his hands, they were completely destroyed, so he didn’t drop the sword because he couldn’t hold it anymore, he was forced to let go because he had no way to hold the sword.

I push him to the ground with my tail, slowly walking towards him, limping and with a shaky gait, he can’t get up off the ground, I see that his legs have also taken a lot of damage.

”Are you really human?” If my bones have turned to fragments and my internal organs have suffered severe damage, Mikael must also be suffering the same, I even have passive abilities that help with this, and due to my race, survival is easier.

But for him, as a human, to survive this is complete madness. I get on top of him, sitting on his chest, and punch him in the face.

”I won this one,” I punch him again.

”This time I didn’t have to run away,” I punch him again, knocking out one of his teeth.

”So, are you satisfied?” I ask him, to which he nods, and I respond with another punch to the face, they’re not very strong punches because I don’t have the strength.

”Where’s my answer?” I punch him again, and again, and again, I want to hear him say it, I want to hear him admit that he lost, and for that I’ll keep punching him even if it kills him.

I don’t want to kill him, but as long as he doesn’t admit defeat, this fight isn’t over, because it’s a fight where we already knew, even without saying anything to each other, this fight will only end when one dies or gives up.

That’s why, unlike him who used all his power in a single attack, I still left 3% of my mana to continue the fight.

”How many more of these can you take, Mikael?” I deliver another strong punch as he spits blood, I know he doesn’t fear death, but I’m sure of one thing, he would still like to fight more.

A true warrior who lives for the fight, and if he has the chance to fight again, it’s obvious he’ll accept.

My hands are dripping with a lot of blood, inside the gauntlets there’s practically just a mass of flesh, my fingers, bones, and a large part of my hand were completely destroyed inside the gauntlet.

If they weren’t fixed to my flesh, they would have fallen off my wrist, so I’m practically punching him only with the gauntlets.

”Aren’t you going to say anything?” I deliver a downward punch, breaking his nose as he spits more blood.

”Do you think you can fight me in this state? Or do you think I won’t kill you?” I’m too proud to not kill him, I don’t want to kill him, but my pride won’t let me stop.

This is what it means to be a demon king, I took the position and I will maintain it with pride, I’ve always made it clear that love won’t cloud my decisions, if Mikael doesn’t give up here, then as the demon king, it’s my duty to kill him.

Because if he doesn’t give up here and now, he’ll never truly be mine, because it means he thinks he can still be above me even after losing.

”Pandora, if you don’t stop, he’ll die,” Violet says worriedly.

”I don’t care,” I say, delivering another punch.

”...” I continue punching with the little strength I have left, I know he’s conscious from the few movements he makes, and I know he can speak, but he’s as proud as I am.

So I’ll break his pride with my punches, he’s a sore loser, but I won’t accept that.

”Who would have thought this would be the end of the strongest human? Where’s all that strength you showed me before?” I say with an arrogant smile, delivering more and more punches.

”Don’t you have anything to say?” I ask, waiting for a response that never comes.

”...”

Violet is clearly uncomfortable with this, and I also feel Mesumari’s aura bothered, but neither of them interferes because it’s between me and Mikael.

They have no right to get involved because in the end they are objects that must follow the will of their bearers without really questioning too much.

”Why don’t you just give up? Do you really prefer to die? Then die! Die with your stupid pride! Your name will be erased from history! In the end, the strongest human is just a human!” I say angrily, delivering more and more punches to him.

”As soon as you die, I’ll cut off your head and show it to the other humans! The incredible hero of theirs reduced to a bloodied corpse, it seems beautiful, doesn’t it? Don’t worry, I’ll completely destroy your body until there’s no more evidence of your existence.”

”You will only exist in my memories, and I’ll make sure to get rid of Mesumari as well, so that no one else will have proof that you ever existed!”

My threat is serious. If he’s not going to give up and prove that he doesn’t want to be with me, that he broke his promise to marry me if he lost, and that pisses me off, if he’s going to break his promise, then he can die here and now, and no one will ever know anything about him again.

”I...give up...my wife,” He says, making me stop punching him as he calls me his wife, a sign of the promise we made.

”...” As soon as he says that, I collapse on top of him, no longer having the strength to continue, I’ve long passed my limit, but I’ve been driven by pride and anger.

”I won...” I murmur, satisfied with his surrender.

”Yes...I’ll keep my promise...you won this one,” Mikael murmurs tiredly, we’re both in horrible states, if I really hadn’t left a little power, we would have tied.

”I love you...” I murmur to him, giving him a small kiss on the forehead, I wanted it to be on the lips, but I can’t move anymore.

”And I...may love you too...I enjoyed our fight,” The part about the fight was said with more satisfaction than the part about loving me, but I can overlook that.

”I enjoyed it too,” I answer him, I know he doesn’t love me, but I’ll have all the time I need to conquer him.

We just lie there, too tired to do anything, we’ll need some time to recover enough, so we’ll just stay here.

Violet and Mesumari seem more relaxed with the result, and with that I finally have him for myself, proving my strength, with this small victory I’m satisfied for now.

I’ll have a fun story to tell in the future about how our union happened, not through a romantic encounter or a wedding with many people.

But through a fight to the death, from which I emerged victorious, proving my strength and defending my pride as the demon king.
