The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 257: Great Demon Alchemist

”Ok honey, I want you to stay here and wait, alright?” I say as I place Azazel in a chair. Azazel nods her head, hugging the doll she’s become very attached to. She’s learned quite a bit in the last few days and can now speak around 10 words.

Of course, she mispronounces some of them, but for something that’s only been a few days, her progress is remarkable. She’s only learning words that were previously deemed important.

For example, she recently learned how to say ”sorry” after my little outburst of anger. She also has her doll, which I told her was named Pandora.

And she started calling the doll ”Pandoru” because the pronunciation of Pandora is difficult for her young mind. She’s also picked up two words that I have no idea where she learned them from.

The first one is ”please” and the second is ”help”. She’s been using these to kill my maids. If I leave her alone and she sees a maid passing by, she starts crying while saying ”Please help me” with a mispronunciation, but it’s still understandable.

Of course, the foolish maid who sees this scene comes closer to help, and ends up getting bitten and killed by Azazel shortly after. She’s also learned to say ”I love you”, but with a funny and cute pronunciation, usually saying ”I luv you” to me. She’s really an energetic girl, but right now I’m busy, so I’ve left her locked in my room while I go talk to the demonic alchemist who needs my attention for my request.

”Grimm, you shouldn’t leave her locked in your room, she’s going to make a mess,” my clone next to me says, but I ignore it. I know she’ll make a mess, but as I told the clones, I’m the one who will be taking care of her alone, so none of the clones really provide much help.

And if I try to leave a maid with her, Azazel will just kill her. Even if I warn them beforehand that Azazel will try to kill them, it’s useless because Azazel is smart and uses her cuteness to deceive her targets. And my maids aren’t strong, because I’ve never hired them based on strength, but rather on appearance and functionality in their duties.

I wonder if it’s Pandora’s genes that make Azazel such a manipulative hunter. At her age, baby vampires would never be hunting their own food this way.

But I like it. It’s good to know she’s strong in this way. She hasn’t shown much power yet, nor has she used any magic or abilities beyond her method of hunting using the target’s blood.

However, she has a good amount of mana, certainly being quite talented for her age, but I doubt she has the intelligence to use magic yet, so there’s no point in trying to teach her. And even if I did teach her magic, she would just cause more destruction, so it’s better to leave her as is for now.

If I were to just compare attributes, she’s close to a Rank C monster that can kill a large group of people. But that’s only in terms of general attributes. In reality, my daughter should be at the level of a Rank D monster, which is still impressive.

Baby dragons typically have strength comparable to Rank E or Rank F monsters, so my daughter is stronger than dragon babies, and that alone shows she’ll have more power than dragons in general.

Unfortunately, I can’t say exactly how high her status is yet, as babies aren’t suitable for evaluation. I can only deduce it from the amount of mana she naturally exudes.

This reminds me that Pandora, when she was born, had the power of a Rank C monster, and in terms of total power, she was close to a Rank B monster, as she destroyed a village just a few days after being born.

So Pandora was at the top of Rank C monsters, losing only to Rank B monsters, but still being a fighter that would give them trouble.

’I’ve rambled too much.’ I finally arrive at the room, seeing the demonic alchemist in his true appearance. He doesn’t usually hide his appearance when he’s with me because I’ve always known what he looks like.

”You’re still disgusting,” I say, rolling my eyes as I look at his strange body. Honestly, I’d prefer if he hid his body like he does with others.

”...You seem to have changed a bit, ’Queen of Vampires’. Do you really think I’m disgusting? That’s really unpleasant to hear from something like you,” he says, not caring that I could kill him at any moment.

”Haha, unpleasant? I don’t think an abomination like you has the right to say that to me, you know you’re an abomination, right?” We always provoke each other this way when we meet face-to-face.

”...Haaa...” He just sighs, irritated that I’m talking about his appearance, which he hates.

”I’m making your suppression artifact, but I found an issue with the material you provided, and I’d like a new one or the artifact will break after one use,” he says as I briefly examine him more closely.

”Alright, Gehinnom, I’ll give you another material,” I say, using the true name of the great demonic alchemist, a name that many don’t know, which is why they only call him the great demonic alchemist.

Honestly, I find him repulsive. His race is called Velcrys, and they were once an extinct species, with him being the only remaining member. However, although he’s referred to as a man, this race has no gender.

He’s obviously a demon, a subspecies derived from succubi, but the evolutionary path of this race was cut short for the most ridiculous reason they have no gender, being neither women nor men, and thus unable to reproduce.

Without any way to increase their numbers, they eventually became extinct over time, and some were even hunted for the same reason they’re repulsive.

Not because they’re ugly, in fact, they’re ”beautiful”. Gehinnom, for example, has an appearance that strongly resembles a woman. He’s 150 centimeters tall, with long green hair and indigo-colored eyes.

His body is ”perfect”, his face is also ”perfect”. He would be a beautiful girl... if it weren’t for this concept of ”perfection”. The thing is, this race is so strangely perfect in appearance that it ends up looking fake and repulsive.

As they are a subspecies derived from succubi, they naturally had a strange genetic change that tried to increase their natural beauty, but it increased in such a strange way that it appears false.

Succubi are naturally beautiful, and they tend to be very natural with their beauty, rarely using makeup or perfume, at most using aphrodisiacs.

Because they prefer to highlight their real and natural beauty, proudly exposing their bodies. If you give makeup to a succubus, she’ll see it as an insult to her appearance.

So following this logic, a naturally beautiful race can’t become much more beautiful than they already are, and that’s what led to these things that appear fake.

Gehinnom is very sensitive about this, always hiding his appearance with magic while falsifying a gender, sometimes being a woman and sometimes a man, but never revealing his true race and appearance.

Because he also doesn’t like his own appearance. This race has come to hate the perfection of their bodies, which to others is disgusting. This naturally led Gehinnom to focus on something else.

And that was money. Since he can’t be a highlight of lust like the succubi, he chose money and greed as a path to follow.

I wonder if Pandora would care about this fact, since Pandora normally has many artifacts commissioned from Gehinnom, even though Pandora’s city has evolved greatly, Gehinnom had a big part in it.

The artifacts that Pandora describes in her plans for improving her city are interesting, but very complex, and only an alchemist like Gehinnom can make them with the efficiency he does.

”What do you need, Gehinnom? What materials will replace the defective one?” I ask, already imagining how much he’ll increase the price for me insulting his appearance.

”I want 20 times the value, and the strongest mineral you have,” he says, trying not to seem irritated. I just smile, I don’t care about the increase, I can easily pay for it.

”Of course, my clone will get the things for you, Gehinnom. You can continue your work.” I want a suppression artifact that can contain gigantic amounts of mana.

One that can contain more mana than any existing artifact, but creating such a thing is difficult and costly. Gehinnom has already failed 5 times in creating this due to the materials breaking.

So he’s been staying at my mansion in the last few days to complete my request, but I was limiting what I delivered to him for the simplest reason.

This greedy one is a thief. If you give him more than he needs, he won’t return what’s left. So if I give him more resources than necessary, he’ll simply steal what’s left without even telling me.

At least he’s not a liar when it comes to taking things, he’s always transparent, never asking for a specific amount and leaving it to the contractor to deliver what they think is necessary.

This way, he can be ”reliable” and deliver things perfectly, while sometimes walking away with an extra profit.

”I’ll get back to work,” he says, changing his appearance as he leaves the room. In the end, I don’t care if he’s disgusting to look at, he’s talented, and no one can deny that. It’s a shame that when he dies, his entire race will disappear completely from existence.

Since this subspecies, after completely separating from the succubi, has never been born again.
