Chapter 554: Mother’s blessing?

”Oh, you came back so quickly?” Milena exclaimed when she saw Arabel.

Arabel, flushed and panic-stricken, was shaking with excitement.

”Damn it, Dan!” she couldn’t help cursing out loud, which scared her sisters. They looked at each other in surprise, but then they burst out laughing, which only angered Arabel.

Knowing that she needed to get back, Arabel quickly got rid of her intoxication using her immunity, which she received from Esma. Then she hurriedly began to put her clothes and hair in order.

”How do I look?” Arabel asked her sisters.

”You look amazing,” Sierra remarked.

”Well, wish me luck,” she said with excitement in her voice.

Gathering her courage, Arabel opened the Access Portal and disappeared inside.

When she left, Sierra and the others started laughing even louder.

”Where did she go?” asked Ivette, noticing Arabel disappear into the portal.

Idan had to restrain himself from laughing. He knew that he had framed Arabel, and she would not ignore it.

”She went away to tidy herself up. Don’t worry, she’ll be back soon,” Idan assured with a smile.

Indeed, the portal soon reopened, and a completely different person emerged from it.

Gone were the staggering gait, laughter, and hiccups. An elegant young beauty with a confident bearing and steady gaze appeared from the portal. Only her face still had a red tinge.

Arabel confidently approached them, a slight smile playing on her face, addressed to Ivette. However, as soon as she looked at Idan, her eyes flashed with anger.

”Well, wait with me, Dan, you’re going to pay for setting me up,” she uttered the words of threat through a mental connection.

Idan answered her with a calm smile, and then, turning to his mother, said:

”Mom, let me introduce Arabel Morgan, Arslan’s older sister and my girlfriend and fiancee.”

Arabel blushed even more when Idan introduced her to his mother as his bride.

”Miss Ivette, I’m so glad to see you again,” she greeted.

”I’m very happy to see you too, Arabel. When you brought me food, I never imagined that you were not only Arslan’s older sister, but also Idan’s girlfriend,” Ivette replied with a smile.

”Have a seat, let’s talk,” Ivette suggested, and Arabel nodded and took a seat next to Idan.

Arabel’s heart was pounding with excitement, but she tried not to show it.

Ivette, looking at the two young people in front of her, couldn’t help but smile. They were so beautiful and complemented each other so harmoniously! For a moment, she recalled her past, and her smile wavered slightly, but she quickly got over the feeling.

”Tell me, Arabel, do you really love Idan? And did you really agree to become his bride?” Ivette asked, wanting to make sure once again and hear confirmation from Arabel.

Arabel blushed and glanced sideways at Idan, who also turned to her. Yes, she liked Idan, but they hadn’t yet told each other directly that they loved each other.

”Yes, Miss Ivette, I love Idan,” Arabel confessed and quickly added: ”And I agreed to become his fiancee.”

Ivette, as a simple observer, was convinced that this couple genuinely loved each other, and not just pretending. She compared their relationship with the ones her daughter Irene had with Arslan, and couldn’t help but sigh.

”Do your parents know about this?” asked Ivette.

”Not yet,” Arabel replied, shaking her head. ”But I’m already working on it.”

”I also want to introduce Dan to my parents,” she added, turning to Idan.

”Oh!” — Ivette was surprised to hear Arabel’s statement and the way she called Idan.

”Mom,” — Idan called to Ivette.

”I’ve been wanting to introduce you to Arabel for a long time, and I’d like to get your blessing,” Idan said, taking Arabel’s hands and embarrassing her.

Arabel couldn’t control her emotions and didn’t understand why she was so worried and easily embarrassed.

”My blessing?” — Ivette was surprised, but when she saw Idan and Arabel looking at her expectantly, she smiled and said:

”You look so great together, and I can see that you really love each other. If you really need my blessing, then I’m happy to give it.”

Arabel couldn’t help but smile and, turning to Idan, noticed that he was smiling too, but his smile was a little different from what she expected.

”Thank you for your blessing, Mom,” Idan said.

”Yes, Miss Ivette, thank you for your blessing,” Arabel said, repeating Idan’s words, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

”Good, good,” — Ivette said with a smile, looking at the young couple.

”Belle,” — Idan called, and after a moment’s thought, he asked: ”It’s getting late. Could you take care of dinner?”

”With pleasure,” — Arabel agreed, immediately guessing that Idan wanted to discuss something with his mother alone.

Getting up, she plucked up the courage in front of Ivette’s eyes and, kissing Idan on the lips, hurried inside the house to cook dinner and demonstrate her culinary skills to her future mother-in-law.

Idan saw her off with a smile, and then turned to his mother, who was also smiling, watching their actions.

Idan looked down, sighed, and his smile became a little strained.

”Mom,” Idan said, looking up at Ivette, ”Tell me honestly, I’m not your son, am I?”

The smile on Ivette’s face froze, and then trembled slightly. She sighed, but the smile didn’t disappear.

”When did you find out about this?” asked Ivette.

”Is this true?” whispered Idan, opening the system window again. He looked at the conditions of the second task of the chain.

[Introduce your girlfriend to your parents and receive their blessing.

Mother’s blessing — not received.

Father’s blessing — not received]

After staring at the System window for a while, Idan closed it.

”To be honest, I had my suspicions, but I wasn’t sure,” he whispered so that Ivette could hear.

”So that’s it,” Ivette said softly.

”The fact that you had such suspicions shows that I was a lousy mother,” she said with a sense of guilt. ”It’s all my fault that you have such doubts, so forgive me, Idan.”

”And so, yes, you’re right, you’re not my own son,” Ivette admitted and after a short pause added: ”But you’re my nephew. The son of my older sister Inessa.”
