CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1047: Chapter 1055: Go Back and Coo Again

This wait has lasted until now and still no sign of him.

”Are you still in the film and TV town? I’ll come pick you up now,” said James Black as he stood up, ready to leave the study.

He didn’t want to keep sitting here waiting for her. Even waiting for her at the film and TV town would be better.

”Don’t—,” Jane Sampson was startled and hurriedly said, ”You don’t need to come! There’s a sudden situation with the film crew, and I can’t leave. It’s pointless for you to come.”

Jane Sampson still wanted to surprise him. She didn’t want James Black to know that she had spent hours making a cake here and still hadn’t succeeded.

Upon hearing this, James Black’s face instantly turned cold, and his tone chilled as well, ”What do you mean? You’re not coming back?”

”Um...” Jane responded vaguely, mainly because she couldn’t find a better excuse to keep James Black from coming to pick her up from the film crew, so she wasn’t really listening to what James Black was asking.

On the phone, James Black was silent for a whole minute.

Then, he slowly began to speak, ”Jane Sampson, what’s more important to you, me or your film crew?”

Jane let out an ’ah’ sound, squeezing her mobile phone and blinking, slightly irritatingly said, ”Of course, the film crew.”

James Black choked.

After a long time, he almost gritted his teeth and said, ”Fine! You really know how to play!”

After that, James Black directly hung up the phone.

Listening to the buzzing sound coming from the phone, Jane Sampson belatedly realized, did she inadvertently to death upset someone just now?

She swore, she was just joking with him just now.

However, it seemed like he took it seriously.

Jane Sampson put down her mobile phone, muttering, ”Forget it, what a lousy temper!”

After muttering, she paused in her movements and added, ”I’ll coax him when I get back home.”

Knowing that James Black was already in the house, Jane Sampson wasn’t too worried. She thought that as long as she could get home before twelve o’clock, she would still be the first one to celebrate his birthday with him.

After putting her mobile phone back in her pocket, Jane Sampson asked the shop owner to help her cut the cake base again. Due to her own level of clumsiness, in the end, Jane Sampson still had the shop owner help her quite a bit.

But the final cream topping and adding decorations were all done by Jane herself.

Because there wasn’t much time left, Jane didn’t have a lot of time to practice adding decorations. Luckily, her skills weren’t so hopeless that they were beyond remedy. In the end, she managed to draw a wobbly cartoon character in a military uniform on the cake.

This busy flurry of activity meant it was already very late by the time she left the cake shop.

Jane Sampson was worried that the longer James Black waited, the angrier he’d get, and the harder he would be to appease, so she almost floored the accelerator all the way home.

When she entered the home doorway, it was already 10:30.

Jane Sampson opened the door and was surprised to find the house dark. Holding the cake in the doorway, she changed her shoes while turning on the entryway light, calling out, ”James Black~”

Not hearing a response from James Black, Jane called out again, ”James Black, I’m back now!”

Still no reply from James Black. Jane felt a sinking feeling. Oh no, was he so mad he was giving her the silent treatment?

For a big man, was it really okay to be so petty?

But after Jane searched every corner of the house and found no sign of James Black, she realized something was seriously wrong.

James Black wasn’t home.

And, at the entryway, there were no shoes of his to be found.

It was very late, where could he have gone?

It surely wasn’t to the film crew to pick her up, otherwise, he would have called her by now.
