CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1028: Chapter 1036: Understood

”Okay.” James Black said, ”Then I’ll trust the little swindler this time. If I find out you’ve been crying, you better come to the guard team yourself, without me having to ask for leave on your behalf.”

”Hmm~” Jane Sampson pouted. Why did she always seem to cry around James Black? Had she turned into a crybaby?

Once she had hung up the phone, Jane Sampson leaned heavily on the table and let out a deep sigh, while Coco Edwards kept pushing her shoulder, urging her, ”Hurry up and explain what exactly happened? The person who pushed you in the mountain village, how could it be Mona Calm? The crew was guessing it was some man, weren’t they? They said the person who pushed you must have been strong.”

”Last night I had James Black check on her. Mona Calm grew up in that village and even during her high school years, she had to help with the farm work at home, so a girl who was used to farmwork from a young age would be quite strong.” Jane Sampson sighed, ”That day, Hibiscus Wood saw her push me with her own eyes.”

Coco Edwards just stood there, stunned, unable to recover her senses for a long time.

After a while, she finally moved and understood.

”No wonder Hibiscus Wood started targeting Mona Calm right after we came down from the mountain village, it was because she saw Mona Calm pushing me.” Coco Edwards nodded her head.

Because Hibiscus Wood had seen it, she disliked the villain Mona Calm, which was why, for the first time in the crew, Hibiscus Wood directly made things difficult for someone.

But the problem was,

”What was Mona Calm’s motive for pushing you? Why would she want to harm you?” Coco Edwards shook her head, ”That doesn’t make sense. Haven’t we been good to her? I helped her, and you helped her too. Previously, when you were shooting an advertisement, you helped her out as well. She herself said that, thanks to you, the company started to take her more seriously and her popularity also increased. She really has no reason to harm you. Honestly, Jane, if I were Mona Calm, if I could have met a friend as easygoing as you in her situation, I would cling to your coattails shamelessly and try my best to please you.”

”If I knew why, I wouldn’t have been so shocked when I heard the result from Hibiscus Wood.” Jane Sampson rubbed her temples.

It was like the world’s greatest unsolvable mystery.

”The twitter scandal before was also orchestrated by her. She and the boss of the studio are from the same town, were classmates, and have been lovers for many years. Mona Calm used her role as one of the extras to feed the studio a lot of insider tips. To some extent, Mona’s initial involvement as an extra was to help her boyfriend enter this circle. Later, when her boyfriend’s studio stabilized and gained a following across various public media accounts, he began thinking about using these resources to promote Mona Calm. Unfortunately, without the right opportunities, she remained just a minor extra.”

Hearing Jane Sampson explain this, Coco Edwards began to understand.

”The isolated twitter account that just joined the film set was actually set up by her boyfriend for her, wasn’t it?” scoffed Coco Edwards. ”Thinking about it now, it’s not at all surprising. In that incident, Amber Edwards was probably the most innocent, while Mona was the only beneficiary. Thanks to you, her twitter popularity has been pretty good recently, and she’s gotten quite a few small commercial endorsements.”

Previously, Coco Edwards was quite happy for Mona Calm, thinking she was about to make it and slowly began to see hope.

Now, thinking about it, Coco Edwards slapped her forehead, ”I’m such an idiot! I even said we should celebrate for her!”

”In her eyes, we’re probably both idiots.” Jane Sampson sighed.
