CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 997: Chapter 1005: Pitiable yet Despicable

”After returning, they worked on the construction site for several months, made some money, bought a gun from the black market, and then went back to Capital Province. Later in the evening, at midnight, they returned to the village and sneaked into a neighbor’s house, where they fired the gun and killed the entire family.”

”What if I suddenly feel like that whole family deserved it?” Coco Edwards sighed.

”Henry Bright and his brothers were caught, and to this day, people are still dying slowly because of them.” Jane Sampson said somberly, ”After they killed their neighbor, they didn’t flee immediately but went around to many homes and poisoned them. Villagers have the habit of storing water in large vats. They dumped poison into these vats. Some more cautious people would use the vat water just for washing things, while less cautious families would drink it directly.”

”Did a lot of people fall victim to it?” The makeup artist also grew tense, ”Nowadays, everyone knows you should boil water before drinking it. That’s common knowledge, right? What kind of poison was it? There would be a reaction during heating, wouldn’t there?”

”Unfortunately, most of the villagers did not use tap water, but instead, they had pooled money to bring spring water from the mountains into every household. The authorities had tested this spring water and declared it fit for use, so that particular spring was protected by the villagers. Therefore, many of them wouldn’t boil the spring water before drinking it, as they believed if it was declared fit for use, it meant it was safe to drink directly, like natural mineral water,” Jane continued.

”At first, Henry Bright and his brothers planned to poison the source directly, but because it was too far and they feared being seen by daybreak, they decided to target those who had bullied them by poisoning their water instead,” Jane Sampson said.

Seeing Coco Edwards and the makeup artist fall silent, Jane Sampson finally added, ”Up until now, those who have died because they drank the water and couldn’t be saved have all been children around three or four years old.”

How innocent they were.

Even if anyone was at fault, it would have been their parents, yet they did not deserve to die.

”I wish I hadn’t asked so much.” Coco Edwards murmured, ”Knowing all this just makes me feel more suffocated.”

”I feel sorry for Henry Bright and his brothers, but at the same time, I hate them,” the makeup artist said with a helpless sigh before shaking her head to clear her thoughts and starting to apply Jane’s makeup.

Knowing the atmosphere had become too heavy, Jane Sampson changed the subject and asked the makeup artist, ”Since Amber Edwards isn’t coming, who will play the third female role?”

Previously caught up in her work, Jane Sampson hadn’t followed the film crew’s updates and thus didn’t know who had been initially cast for the third female role. She had only heard the names Mona Calm and Hibiscus Wood mention a newcomer.

”Initially, a newcomer was cast for the role, and coincidentally, her name also contains ’Xuan’, she’s called Grace Chip. She’s delicate and pretty, fitting the third female role quite well,” the makeup artist explained. ”However, she’s busy outside the region these two days and won’t join the film crew until the day after tomorrow.”

”That girl must be suffering from the misfortune of eight lives to end up with a name like Amber Edwards’s...” Coco Edwards mumbled under her breath, but before she could finish, the next second, she suddenly saw a trending update on her phone, and immediately, she forgot what she was about to say. Staring wide-eyed, she read the new trending tweet carefully, word by word.
