CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 186: Chapter 194: Joining in on the Fun

”What happened?” Peter Gingery asked, ”I just said that Brother James Black’s mood today was inexplicably bad.”

”I think it’s not related to me,” Jane Sampson argued seriously, ”It was just a while ago when he called me and asked me when I’d go back; I told him it’d be three to five months, and then we didn’t talk about anything else.”

Peter Gingery thought about it carefully and hummed in agreement, ”Then it should have nothing to do with you. Besides, whether you and my brother meet every three to five months or not for half a year, it’s all normal.”

Since it had nothing to do with Jane Sampson, Peter Gingery became dejected. Had something else unpleasant happened within the guard team today?

It seemed like there was nothing before Julie Sampton arrived at the guard base.

After hanging up the phone, Jane Sampson didn’t worry about Peter Gingery’s concerns anymore. Having received the same answer from him that James Black’s initial bad mood was unrelated to her, she picked up her mobile phone and hurried back to Daniel Taylor’s side to listen to him explain the script to Olivia Chip.

Jane Sampson remembered a saying she’d seen on the internet earlier: ”The Oscars owe every director a Movie King and Movie Queen trophy.” Watching Daniel Taylor explain the script to Olivia Chip, she deeply shared the sentiment.

In these few days, most of the script was focused on the two protagonists, Olivia Chip and Jiang Chengge. Meanwhile, the female supporting role hadn’t yet entered the film crew. She was said to be rushed with notices and would arrive a few days late.

Since there were fewer NGs (No Goods), the filming over the past few days had been pretty smooth. After shooting the night scenes, when Daniel Taylor said they could wrap up, it was just after ten o’clock.

”If nobody’s busy, how about we go eat barbecue skewers? My treat!” Matthew Chip had already changed out of his costumes and looked around at everyone, ”There’s a grill stand outside the film and TV base that’s really good. Do you guys want to go try it out with me?”

”Let’s go, someone’s treating, of course we’ll go!” Daniel Taylor was the first to agree, and naturally, if the director was going, no one would say no.

As Jane Sampson listened to Matthew Chip speak, she pulled Daniel Taylor aside with a very serious expression, ”Sister Tin’s husband, Doctor Taylor told you to mind your diet, you can’t eat barbecue skewers!”

In order to persuade Daniel Taylor, Jane Sampson even brought up Sister Tin’s name, stretching ’brother-in-law’ into ’Sister Tin’s husband’.

Daniel Taylor’s expression paused, and he looked pensively at Jane Sampson, quietly muttering to himself that he had agreed too eagerly just now, forgetting that Jane Sampson was watching him.

”I’ll just join for the fun, and see if there’s anything else nearby that I can eat,” Daniel Taylor said gently, touching his forehead, ”Don’t you dare tell your Sister Tin that I was thinking about eating barbecue skewers.”

Once everyone was ready, the whole group followed Matthew Chip to the highly-recommended grill stand. Jane Sampson didn’t know yet if it was actually good, but the smell alone was truly enticing.

The owners of the stand were a couple in their thirties. There were already quite a few customers in line, but when they saw Matthew Chip, the boss greeted him cheerfully and set up a larger table for them. From their conversation and the looks of it, Matthew Chip seemed to be a regular there.

Despite the crowd, the boss was quick with the service, and within ten minutes of sitting down, a variety of barbecue skewers had been served.

That aroma directly made Jane Sampson’s eyes sparkle, having been restricted for so long.

Jane Sampson swore that if it were not for Olivia Chip reminding her that her mobile phone was ringing from where she sat on the other side, she might not have noticed even if her phone exploded with the allure of the food on the table.
