CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 167: Chapter 175: This Is the One

Jane Sampson pondered for a moment, lightly tapping her fingers, and asked in a low voice, ”I know how to play, but...” After a pause, Jane Sampson said, ”Mr. Humming, how about I not participate in the game segment?”

”Since you know how to play, let’s play together.” Julie Sampson suddenly spoke up, ”Everyone plays together, no special treatment. Otherwise, would you be the only one standing there looking foolish on stage?”

”Fine then,” Jane Sampson agreed somewhat reluctantly.

Having gotten her agreement, Julie Sampson said no more, standing there and smirking at Jane Sampson with contempt.

A top student who spent her early years practicing piano and studying, even if she knew how to play such games, would probably not be good at them, right? Then, she would likely be the first to be eliminated round after round, and naturally, people would mock Jane Sampson as a beautiful but brainless vase, wouldn’t they?

Julie Sampson began to look forward with particular eagerness to the day after the show was recorded and broadcast. She loved watching Jane Sampson make a fool of herself, wondering how Jane would maintain her goddess-like demeanor then.

If Peter Gingery were here at this time and knew what Julie Sampson was thinking, he’d probably roll his eyes and mutter ”idiot” under his breath. After the brief discussion ended, Jane Sampson returned to the makeup room and, sure enough, Min Humming hadn’t forgotten about Jane’s makeup. Shortly after Jane entered, Min Humming called in a senior makeup artist from the TV station to do Jane’s makeup.

At this time, Jane Sampson was the only one in the makeup room who hadn’t yet been made up; the others were either in the next-door makeup room or had brought their personal makeup artists and were already mingling with old acquaintances around the station.

The makeup artist who came in was a young-looking beauty. Once she entered, the first thing she did was take out a notebook and offer it to Jane Sampson, ”Jane, could I have your autograph? I’ve been a fan since I was very young! I used to play piano too, and one year we were even at the same competition! But later I gave up piano to study makeup, thinking you would continue, and I didn’t expect you to change your career too.”

Jane Sampson smiled in surprise and then cheerfully signed her autograph before winking at the makeup artist, ”Make me look extra beautiful, okay?”

”Definitely, definitely!” The makeup artist carefully put away Jane Sampson’s autograph and then opened her makeup box. That’s when she suddenly remembered something and asked Jane, ”Jane, do you have some sort of feud with that female host? You know, that female host is so mean. Just now Mr. Humming called me over to do your makeup, and when she heard about it, she took advantage of nobody being around to stop me. She gave me a bracelet and told me to just do your makeup carelessly, not to make you look too good so that you, a newcomer, wouldn’t steal anyone’s limelight.”

As she spoke, the makeup artist took out the bracelet, which she had carelessly tossed in her makeup box, and placed it on the table, ”Here, this one.”

Jane Sampson recognized it at a glance as Julie Sampson’s item. Julie had still been wearing it on her wrist when she came in earlier. Jane hadn’t expected Julie to be so willing to spend a significant sum to bribe the makeup artist, given that the latest model bracelet cost tens of thousands.

”If she gave it to you, you keep it,” Jane Sampson said. ”Besides, I am naturally beautiful, so even if you just slap on the makeup casually, I’ll still be the exceptionally beautiful one.”

Perhaps it was because the makeup artist had shown her the bracelet and told her about it, so Jane Sampson felt an extra measure of trust and gratitude toward her, speaking more freely as a result.
