Chapter 1265: Chapter 1264: Little Fatty Speaks Down-to-Earth

The saying about ghost hitchhiking is quite widespread here, much like how when something foul enters a house, it can’t leave without being carried by a deceased’s relative. These wandering ghosts can get lost too, hence the term ghost hitchhiking.

This man was almost scared to death. The village has been rife with tales of people seeing a female ghost here. He didn’t see a female ghost but saw several child ghosts!

In these desolate mountains, seeing child ghosts isn’t uncommon. They don’t dare go up the mountain because the mountain god protects the area, so they can only run into the wilderness. Now, they’ve encountered this unlucky man, and they’ve followed him, attracted by his ’human spirit’ are these four child ghosts!

”I’m not going with you, and I’m not letting you hitch a ride, so just give up!” the man said trembling.

Anyone whose car gets ghost-overtaken, someone in the house is sure to die, especially if there are elderly or children, those with weak constitution. But who doesn’t have elderly or children at home?

Luo Yirui saw the man was scared almost out of his wits, quite speechless himself. How could he let the man know that they were human?

He had never encountered a situation where things couldn’t be explained.

”Uncle, how can you, a grown man, be so timid? The four of us aren’t even scared, look at you shivering!” Little Fatty was freezing, eager to find a warm place, but the man kept dallying.

The man gripped the peach wood stick tightly with both hands, trembling, thinking the little ghost’s speech was quite down-to-earth, and did he even have an accent? A ghost from elsewhere?

Luo Yirui sensed that the man was stunned for a moment, not sure why, turned his head and nudged Little Fatty gently with his elbow, signaling him to continue talking.

Little Fatty was clueless, just feeling colder and colder, said, ”Uncle, thanks to you, let’s get this car out together. If we can reach our parents, they will certainly thank you.”

The man widened his eyes and stared at Little Fatty, ”Why are you, you kids here in the middle of the night?”

He also felt something was off. Under the moonlight, these four children had shadows, don’t ghosts not have shadows?

Little Fatty spread his hands, ”Did you know we’re here for an adventure?”

”Running away from home?”

Little Fatty was vexed, ”...I said it’s an adventure, why did it turn into running away from home!”

The man stood up, realizing perhaps these weren’t little ghosts. Appearing here so late, and such young children, anyone would have doubts. Now, he couldn’t completely be sure.

”Where do you want to go?” the man asked tentatively.

”Can you take us to the place closest to the county? Anywhere convenient for you to drop us off?” Luo Yirui nearly didn’t dare speak, afraid of saying something that could make him mistaken for a little ghost again.

The man was still somewhat dubious, ”I’m heading to the county, but I’ve been stuck here for hours now, can’t get the car out. It’s packed with goods, can’t go. How about you go back and ask someone to help me get the car out?”

The four children agreed; if they were little ghosts, they likely wouldn’t return. If not, they would bring someone back to save him.

Little Fatty rolled his eyes, ”We can help you get this car out ourselves. We’re not going to run back, our legs are aching, we’re thirsty and hungry, who’s going to run errands for you.”

The man listened to Little Fatty, felt less and less like it was ghosts fooling him, slightly reassured. If they were human, having company in the middle of the night was comforting. This stretch of road is quite ominous, often hearing stories of dirty things being seen here.
