I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 1179: Chapter 1178: Luck or Sabotage

Luo Yirui spotted a manhole cover!

This manhole must connect to the inside!

However, that manhole is further ahead. If he crawls over, the movement in the grass could cause a faint noise, drawing attention. Even without noise, the black is too conspicuous.

He considered his options and decided to take off his top, revealing his upper body. This way, as long as he didn’t raise his head and stayed silent, the likelihood of being discovered was greatly reduced, but...

It’s damn cold!

Luo Yirui shivered, carefully inching his way over. He moved with skill, heading toward areas where the grass was sparse, pausing between each movement, with his attention constantly on the dark camouflage at the wall.

He used the ’hunting-style’ technique for movement, which he had learned quite meticulously while accompanying his dad on wilderness training. He was very grateful now that he had learned so diligently with his dad back then.

Looks like he should have a good chat with his grandmother when he returns home; what Dad taught him and Mom, too, was really useful. He should learn more in the future!

He cleared his mind of distractions, cautiously approaching the manhole cover. Observing that those people hadn’t noticed him, he sighed in relief, then looked at the manhole cover, secretly praying.

Typically, manhole covers in such places aren’t maintained, so...

Luo Yirui cautiously reached out to grab the manhole’s edge and pulled hard. It moved slightly. He was overjoyed, feeling quite lucky!

Sitting down, he placed the cover between his legs, bracing his feet against the protruding stones and gripping the two edges, carefully and forcefully moving the cover bit by bit outwards.

The cover was naturally heavy. Though Luo Yirui was young, he was strong, but relocating it quietly took a huge effort.

In the midst, several people in dark camouflage suddenly came over, seemingly patrolling, startling Luo Yirui into thinking he was discovered. His hand almost slipped, but thankfully, he put pressure on his fingers to make no sound, though it hurt so badly tears almost came out.

The cover’s iron, if he weren’t careful, could crush his fingers!

Luo Yirui rubbed his fingers tearfully for a long time, relieved that the bones were fine; otherwise, he might have broken a finger before even getting inside. What a mess!

But he was comforted to know those people hadn’t discovered him; they were just changing shifts.

Finally opening the cover, as soon as he poked his head inside, a mix of sour and foul smells hit him, almost knocking him back. Pinching his nose, he grimaced.

There’s water down there, though unknown how deep. Crucially, there’s likely dangerous gases below, posing a life threat.

Luo Yirui sighed, realizing this route was blocked and he’d need to find another entrance. However, it inspired him; if he found the sewer, he could still get in.

With newfound direction, Luo Yirui quickly moved and soon found a sewer entrance near the ’factory’. Excited, he found this sewer cover unsecured and eagerly climbed down. Though smelly, there was sufficient air below.

Not far away, Chen Jinliang gave a ’settled’ gesture to someone in the distance, where a sniper was positioned. Despite the distance, the sniper should be able to see.

Indeed, he had opened that sewer; otherwise, so close to the ’factory’, the other side would certainly have defenses to prevent any mishap.
