I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 1170: Chapter 1169: An Unexpected Visit

Beisitian retreated from her son’s place, pondering over how to handle this matter. Now it seems like only she and Wei Zhongxun could intervene, or perhaps notify You Hong’an, also known as Luo Xudong.

Notifying Luo Xudong is certain, but Beisitian still needs to consider how to proceed with this matter.

While Beisitian was pondering, people from the Ancient Family came to her.

It wasn’t Chu Fenglei, but members of the Hou Family. Watching the old woman from the Hou Family sitting in the middle of the living room, Beisitian roughly guessed it might be related to last night’s incident.

Is it to tell her not to meddle in this issue, or is it to warn Luo Yirui not to speak out?

The old woman from the Hou Family was still wearing a dark blue Tang suit with cloud patterns, the peony pan button looked somewhat familiar.

The elderly lady of the Hou Family introduced herself as Mrs. Hou Yue, which was quite peculiar, not because of the title itself, but because of how she introduced herself, directly stating her title, positioning herself on the same level as Beisitian, without any condescension.

Beisitian felt slightly surprised. Mrs. Hou Yue usually sat with her eyes half-closed on the grand master’s chair she brought along, leaning on a walking stick, appearing as if she seldom bothered with worldly matters, giving people a difficult-to-approach impression, but after speaking, it seemed somewhat different.

”I’ve long admired Doctor Bei’s reputation, truly meeting is better than hearing.” Mrs. Hou Yue slightly nodded, her deep nasolabial folds showing no sign of a smile at the corners of her mouth, yet her attitude was courteous, even somewhat sincere.

Sincere?

All attitudes could be explained, except for this one.

”You flatter me, madam.” Beisitian smiled lightly, polite and reserved.

Mrs. Hou slightly tilted her head, and a member of the Hou Family immediately presented a gift box. Mrs. Hou smiled and said, ”This is a small token of our initial meeting, I hope Doctor Bei will accept it.”

Beisitian was taken aback, exchanging gifts upon first meeting was common, but given the circumstances and high-level contradictions, surely gifts wouldn’t be exchanged.

She didn’t know the purpose of Mrs. Hou’s visit, nor the significance of the gift, hence she didn’t plan to return a gift. It’s normal that she wasn’t prepared when the other party suddenly visited with a gift.

”You’re too kind, it’s embarrassing to accept such a gift without having done anything to deserve it.” Beisitian said with a smile.

Mrs. Hou Yue saw her use another phrase to decline, realizing the others were right. This head of the Modern Family seemed young but her responses and actions were quite mature.

”The abrupt visit was indeed our oversight.” Mrs. Hou Yue said, relieving the awkwardness that Beisitian would’ve otherwise felt, ”I actually have another matter I hope Doctor Bei would consider.”

”Please go ahead, madam.” Beisitian said.

”I assume the young master has already informed Doctor Bei about last night’s incident. My child and the Fu Family’s child wish to invite your young master to explore together.”

So that’s what it’s about!

Beisitian really saw no need to agree. Initially, she wasn’t keen on letting Luo Yirui go, adding children from the Ancient Family would only compound her reluctance, especially if they regard Luo Yirui as a pawn, she would be full of regret.

Mrs. Hou Yue noticed Beisitian’s lack of immediate response, knowing she might be unwilling. Before Beisitian could refuse, she said: ”Doctor Bei, please don’t rush to answer. Take some time to consider, and let me know your decision by tonight.”
