I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 958: Chapter 957: Stopping a Car

Luo Yirui watched in shock as the two men quickly regained their ability to move. He immediately panicked and grabbed Jing Changle, urging him to run!

Jing Changle was still confused about what was happening. Luo Yirui had already used his fighting talisman, so it shouldn’t have been necessary to flee so hastily.

When Jing turned his head, he saw the two cops wobbling to their feet, which startled him. Could it be that these two were in Luo Yirui’s league?

”Are they also Mystic Doctors?” Jing Changle asked as they ran.

His words reminded Luo Yirui that these two were definitely not Mystic Doctors, but the two he had seen at the police station were definitely Mystic Doctors!

Since they came to arrest him and Uncle Yuan, it’s likely they knew something about their methods and might have prepared some preventive measures.

Luo Yirui never thought his talisman was invincible. Even his parents, not to mention Uncle Tian Zhi’s talisman, could overpower him.

Though the two kids were young, they could run pretty fast, especially since the two cops hadn’t fully recovered from their paralysis, making it difficult for them to chase through the rubble.

The two cops watched helplessly as the kids were about to disappear. They immediately notified their team to search the village.

After so many days of searching, they finally had a lead on Luo Yirui. This time, they couldn’t let him slip away.

Luo Yirui and Jing Changle ran like startled rabbits, with no direction in mind. But after running a certain distance and seeing that the cops hadn’t caught up, their sense slowly returned.

As the panic subsided, they looked at each other while running, a strange sense of laughter bubbling up inside them for some reason.

”Hahaha...”

”Hahaha...”

Two bursts of laughter erupted simultaneously from the two kids, sweeping away the earlier fear and panic.

They didn’t dare to stop running, but now with their sense returning, they no longer ran aimlessly like headless chickens.

They analyzed that the cops had likely notified their colleagues to surround them, so which direction should they escape to avoid capture?

”The first time I met you was while escaping capture; it’s the same the second time!” Jing Changle said, slightly out of breath.

Luo Yirui replied grumpily, ”Exactly. It’s like meeting you means getting chased!”

Jing Changle glared at him, ”You’re twisting things. These guys are after you.”

”And who’s fault is it they found us here?” Luo Yirui countered.

Jing Changle gave an embarrassed smile—well, it was true.

Luo Yirui wasn’t really upset with Jing Changle. They were just teasing each other, and it felt like they were weathering the storm together. After all, Jing Changle wasn’t involved; he had no reason to join in, yet he was running around with him, getting chased everywhere.

”If we stay in the village, we’ll definitely be cornered. Let’s head to the road. If we can flag down a car, we can drive away!” Jing Changle suggested.

Luo Yirui felt undecided; playing hide and seek with cops? That’s suicidal, like a cat playing with a mouse.

Wherever they went now, the risk was high unless they plunged directly into the deep mountains... but that might mean never getting out.

Better not do something so reckless. If caught by the cops, they wouldn’t execute him, so Luo Yirui felt there’s no need to take such a risk. The reason he was running so desperately was to avoid being caught and having his parents threatened.

Those two cops would definitely focus their search on the village. If they didn’t leave the nearby village now, they’d be surrounded. So Luo Yirui decided to follow Jing Changle’s suggestion and head towards Dayan.

Once on Dayan, if they were lucky, they could flag down a car and maybe escape for real.

With this in mind, the two of them ran non-stop towards Dayan, not daring to stop for a moment.

”Bro, if the car we stop gets flagged down by a police car, just lie on the ground, roll around crying, yelling those cops are human traffickers. Maybe we can attract someone’s attention. When the cops try to take you, it might require more explanation,” Jing Changle suggested seriously.

Luo Yirui’s mouth twitched. Why did he think Jing Changle’s ideas were so quirky?

But... it actually seemed like a viable plan.

”Where do you come up with these endless bad ideas?” Luo Yirui asked.

Jing Changle chuckled, ”I’m giving you good advice, and you’re not even grateful.”

They bickered while running towards Dayan, which helped lift some of the tension from their hearts.

They finally reached Dayan, jogging as they walked and waiting for passing vehicles.

There were plenty of cars, but no one stopped, no matter how they signaled.

On the busy road, who would stop for two kids? People didn’t have the time to waste on kids.

After trying for a long time, no car stopped. They could stop long-distance buses, but at that time, no long-distance bus was coming.

They felt discouraged and exhausted from running, standing by the roadside to catch their breath while keeping a lookout for the cops returning.

Fortunately, the village was a distance from the county town, so even sending cops would take time.

Just then, a luxurious car approached from a distance. This car was imported and a stretch version, really quite rare in the country!

Both exchanged a glance and rushed forward in unison, standing right in the middle of the road with their arms stretched wide...

With no other option, if they didn’t stop a car, they’d end up in a police car.

Since they had to flag down a car, it was more worthwhile to stop a nice one. Although kids have strong self-esteem, they also have thick skin, especially teenagers.

Blocking the road like that, the car would have to stop, even if reluctantly. They were ready for a scolding, but surprisingly, a man in a suit got out of the car and invited them in!

This made Luo Yirui and Jing Changle hesitate instead. If they got scolded, they might have pretended to be good, pleaded pitiably, and stubbornly managed to hitch a ride. But what was this situation?

An invitation to get in the car?

Could it be the people inside were the bad guys!

Luo Yirui suddenly felt an urge to run, and they instinctively took a step back.

”What’s up, kid? You aren’t cocky anymore, huh? Too scared to get in?”

Luo Yirui was taken aback by the voice. It sounded familiar. Soon, the window rolled down revealing a person inside, grinning at him.

Of course, the smile had more mischief in it.

Seeing this person, Luo Yirui relaxed and grinned, ”Oh, it’s you!”

Turning, he called Jing Changle, ”Come on, let’s get in!”
