Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1377: Chapter 821: Never Yield_2

”Am I that kind of person?” Qian Jiale suddenly stood up, ”Mr. Qi, if you really think that way, then you’re wronging a brother...”

Qi Xing slowly stood up, with a serious expression: ”I am already married.”

”Married?” Qian Jiale and Zhu Hongyu exclaimed together, ”When did you get married? Why didn’t we know?”

”Long before I met you, I was already married.”

Qian Jiale looked at Qi Xing with a face full of surprise: ”When I met you, you were only 23, how could you be married? And why have you never mentioned it? What does your spouse do?”

”I married...” After a long silence, Qi Xing continued, ”I married my sister-in-law, my real sister-in-law.”

”Ah?”

”She doesn’t let me tell anyone, but today, since we’re talking about it, I no longer want to keep it from you. Temporarily, we can’t announce our relationship publicly, but in front of you, getting your blessings can be a kind of solace.”

The room fell into a brief silence, after a while, Luo Ye raised his teacup: ”Political Commissar Qi is a man of deep feelings and righteousness. I’ll toast to you with tea instead of wine.”

”I toast to you too!” Zhu Hongyu also said.

”Thank you!” Qi Xing stood up and clinked cups with the two, drinking it fiercely in one gulp, it felt like he wasn’t drinking tea, but drinking away enemies, drinking away grievances!

Qian Jiale, tangled, covered his head and looked at the others: ”No, what’s the situation here, how does Mr. Qi become so righteous and emotional?”

”You’re really a straightforward person, your mind doesn’t work in crucial moments. For a situation like his, it doesn’t need asking. Surely, Mr. Qi’s brother had an accident, and his sister-in-law devoted herself to that family.

Then, the Qi Family advised the sister-in-law to remarry, she refused, eventually moved Mr. Qi, also moved the Qi Family, and the two got officially married.

However, they’re afraid of others gossiping, so they haven’t announced it publicly. The sister-in-law has been diligently attending to the parents-in-law and taking care of the child all these years at the old home.” Zhu Hongyu looked at Qi Xing, ”Am I right?”

”Yes.” Qi Xing nodded.

Qian Jiale’s eyes sparkled, looking at Qi Xing: ”I remember you said you have a brother, seven years older than you, so... how much older is the sister-in-law?”

”She’s my age, was my high school senior...” Qi Xing’s voice was choked, ”When my brother was little, he had a fever, his brain was damaged, when he’s normal he’s like ordinary people, but when he has an episode, someone must accompany him, or he runs wildly around the village, hitting children he sees.

My parents have leg problems, when I got into military school, my biggest worry was they couldn’t take care of my brother, so I hesitated whether to give it up.

My parents learned my thoughts and firmly disagreed, saying my brother was already like that, and they didn’t want me to ruin my future for him.

While my parents and I were in a tug-of-war, a matchmaker visited my home, saying someone had their eyes on my brother, wanted to marry him, and didn’t want a dowry.

Such pie-falling-from-the-sky matter, my parents feared the higher the hope, the bigger the disappointment, so they asked the matchmaker, what did the other party see in my brother? Are they willing to marry into my family or is it a misunderstanding?

The matchmaker reassured my parents, saying the woman had no parents, lived with her grandpa, and after he passed away, she had no support, just wanted to marry an honest person, and happened to have her eyes on my brother.

The woman visited my family for a look when I coincidentally went for a physical examination, I met her only after they were married...” Qi Xing hugged his head and cried.

The conversation reached this point, everyone could guess what happened. The girl wasn’t looking at Qi Xing’s brother, but was doing it for Qi Xing, allowing him to leave with no worries and go to school. How selfless love must be to achieve such lengths?

”Why are you saying this now?” Qian Jiale punched Qi Xing’s shoulder, ”Such a wonderful woman, why don’t you dare to tell the world?”

”At that time, she agreed to marry me, but it was me who forced her with the threat of my own life, but she made me swear not to tell anyone about this, otherwise she’d ’die’ in front of me.

Later, we had a child, she then threatened me with divorce, I understand her character, she would really do it, she doesn’t let me say anything, not for herself, but she fears I’d lose face, be looked down upon.”

Luo Ye thought for a moment: ”During school, you must have often helped her.”

”Yes, my family was poor, hers was even poorer, back then we board at school, everyone brought steamed buns, bought dishes from the cafeteria to eat.

She always brought dark steamed buns mixed with cornmeal and wheat flour, gnawed on pickles. I was her deskmate, often shared my meals with her to eat.
