Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 943: Chapter 562: Moved

”Originally, I couldn’t stand her, but now that we’re really about to part, I actually feel reluctant. Tell me, am I just naturally self-destructive?” Xing Nong couldn’t help but sigh on the way back to the dorm after the party.

Yaoguang nodded in agreement, ”Qiu’er, you’re only realizing now that you’re self-destructive? Take your situation with Lu Lu, for example. You tried every possible way to get close to him, but now, you’re doing everything you can to avoid him. I bet, the day he really stops paying attention to you, you’ll start to panic again.”

”We’re talking about Coach Hang right now, why are you bringing Lu Lu into this?” Xing Nong glared at her. ”Moreover, let me make this clear: if Lu Lu really ignored me, I’d be nothing but happy. Smelly Demon, I’ll let you off tonight since it’s late, but tomorrow you’ll see how I handle you.”

Yaoguang pouted, ”Don’t brag too soon; it’s not certain who will handle whom in the end.”

”Fine, I’m not talking to you,” Xing Nong affectionately linked arms with Luo Ye. ”Luoluo, when I think about it, apart from the initial unreasonable part, Coach Hang was actually quite good, wasn’t she?”

”Yes, yes, yes...” Luo Ye responded repeatedly, poking her head. ”How about this, tomorrow morning we go together to see Coach Hang off. She’s staying at school tonight, so it’ll be convenient to send her off.”

”Sure, let’s do that,” Xing Nong nodded in agreement. ”Luoluo, you’re so thoughtful, that way she won’t feel lonely leaving by herself.”

Yaoguang looked at a certain Nong with disdain, ”Qiu’er, you’re just worrying needlessly. The school leaders and teachers will definitely see her off; ’leaving by herself feeling lonely,’ imagine that.”

”Can’t you leave me alone even for a second?” Xing Nong kicked out in frustration, but Yaoguang dodged with a tilt, laughing, ”I’m not picking on you, I’m helping you to think critically. You’ve been a bit muddled ever since Lu Lu got involved.”

”You’re the muddled one,” Xing Nong shook Luo Ye’s arm, ”Luoluo, say something fair. She’s always bullying me.”

Luo Ye looked at her seriously, ”Qiu’er, though Yao Yao might be overboard, she’s right in principle. All your thoughts are tangled up with Lu Lu, and you should be aware of the repercussions if you continue like this, since you’re part of the Fierce Tiger team.”

”I know this isn’t good,” Xing Nong lowered her head sorrowfully, ”but I’m always worried he’d do something irresponsible, and how embarrassing would that be for me?”

Luo Ye looked at her speechlessly, ”Qiu’er, Lu Lu isn’t as bad as you think. He’s doing it on purpose to get your attention. Ever thought about why he would do that?”

Xing Nong blinked, looking bewildered, ”Why?”

Yaoguang jumped in, ”He just wants everyone to know about your relationship. In other words, he doesn’t feel secure with you, got it?”

”Not secure?” Xing Nong’s eyes widened instantly, ”What a joke!”

Yaoguang rolled her eyes, ”Big international joke, you dummy!”

”You...”

Luo Ye quickly patted the about-to-freak-out Xing Nong, ”Alright, alright, you’re just confused being in the situation. I advise you, have a good talk with Lu Lu. Don’t avoid him, and don’t just laugh it off. Talk seriously, let your relationship normalize, and yourself normalize, okay?”

”I’ll try,” Xing Nong sighed dejectedly. ”Hopefully, he’ll listen to me, or else life will be unlivable—can’t beat him, can’t make him listen...”

Hearing Qiu’er classmate muttering endlessly, Luo Ye and Yaoguang were at a loss... This kid, really a bit possessed.

”Luo Ye...” Just as they were near the dorm entrance, Yu Na caught up, hesitated a bit, ”Master talked to me today, hoping I could become friends with you.

At the time, I refused. On second thought, it seems I shouldn’t have. Actually, being friends doesn’t affect our competition. Luo Ye, if I want to be friends with you, do you dare to accept?”

Luo Ye raised an eyebrow at her, ”What’s there not to dare? Why not join us tomorrow to see Coach Hang off? It’d make her happier too.”

”Sure, I was going to go anyway,” Yu Na looked at them seriously. ”Thank you all.”

Xing Nong quickly waved it off, ”No need to rush the thanks. Whether we’re friends depends on your performance, and the length of the test is undetermined.”

”I was thanking you for seeing my master off,” Yu Na said as she turned and entered the dorm. ”Tch, she’s getting all high and mighty now?” Xing Nong pointed speechlessly at the door, then looked at Luo Ye, ”Why agree with her? I don’t believe she’s truly come around.”

”So what if she hasn’t?” Luo Ye consoled Xing Nong with a pat, ”Qiu’er, we need to trust our observation and judgment. If someone extends an olive branch, us keeping a stern face and not accepting just shows a lack of grace, right?”

Xing Nong pondered and nodded in agreement, ”True, soldiers come, we’ll fight them; water floods, we’ll stand firm. Who’s afraid of who?”

Just catching the end of the conversation, Li Xiaobei caught up in a few steps, beating her chest triumphantly, ”Who’s picking on you? If we’re off to get even, count me in!”

Yaoguang hurriedly pulled her toward the dorm, ”Bei, you’re truly a pal, but you’re mixing up your roles; you’re a soldier, not a mob boss. Be good, off to bed now.”

Li Xiaobei quickly protested, ”It’s not my fault; you dragged me to that special screening. I barely watched movies before because of studying. I’m telling you, you picked such a movie for me, and if I turn into a mob boss, you’ll have to bear legal responsibility...”

”Pfft!” Xing Nong burst out, ”Little Bei, this kid, is so adorable.”

Luo Ye rolled her eyes at her, ”Weren’t you the one leading her astray with Yaoguang? Alright, taps will sound soon, get inside quickly.”

”Luoluo, wait.” Just as Luo Ye was about to enter the door, Ji Sisi grabbed her, smiling ingratiatingly, ”I want to say a few words to you. I’ll definitely finish before lights out, okay?”

”Go ahead, no need to be so polite.”

Ji Sisi pulled Luo Ye to the stairwell, looked around to make sure no one was there, and finally said, ”My second uncle’s family has a cousin three years older than me, named Ji Miaomiao. She really, really loves the song ’Lifetime with You’ and admires the songwriter who created it the most.

After the performance ended, I called her, and she was thrilled, but... ” Ji Sisi hesitated, ”Luoluo, could you... could you go with me to see her?”

Luo Ye shook her head apologetically, ”Sisi, I’m sorry. Writing that song was purely accidental, and it’s better not to.” Feeling guilty, she firmly decided not to put her name on it. To make up for it, she specifically asked Qu Yue to sign the talented duo under the Qu Family’s entertainment company. Therefore, she wouldn’t want any honor stemming from this song, nor did she wish to interact with fans who liked the song.

”Luoluo, please help me this once. In the future, I’ll repay you in any way you want.” Ji Sisi sighed heavily, ”I’m asking you because my cousin... can only sit in a wheelchair, making it really inconvenient for her to come here.”

”Oh?” Luo Ye raised an eyebrow.

”When I was little, it was my cousin who accompanied me in practice, so we have a very special bond. When she was 15, she severely injured her spine due to a training mistake...” Ji Sisi choked up, unable to continue.

Luo Ye hugged her comfortingly, ”Alright, I’ll go.”

”Thank you.” Ji Sisi calmed down for a moment and continued, ”After my cousin got injured, our senior accompanied her all the time. The first time she heard this song, she cried her heart out. She said it perfectly expressed her feelings.

So, when I found out you were the writer, my first reaction was to call my cousin. Hearing her excitedly confirming this over the phone, I thought if you were willing to visit her with me, she’d be incredibly happy.”

”Where is your cousin now?”

”She’s at Sha City First People’s Hospital,” Ji Sisi thought for a moment and suggested, ”Luoluo, there’s only one class tomorrow morning. Can you go with me after class?”

Luo Ye calculated the time, saw no conflicts, and readily agreed, ”No problem.”

...

The next morning at eight o’clock.

Hang Menglin gave one last look at the empty dormitory, sighed, and walked out with her luggage.

”Salute!”

As soon as Hang Menglin stepped out of the building, tears welled up uncontrollably. Originally, she thought not many people would come to see her off, unexpectedly it was such a scene: hundreds of trainees crowded in the empty space in front of the dormitory, all saluting her. How could she not be moved by such a feeling?

She put down her luggage and solemnly returned the salute.

Feng Tianzhi stepped out from the crowd, ”Coach Hang, this was entirely spontaneous by everyone. I’m genuinely envious!”

Hang Menglin looked emotionally at the trainees, ”To receive such a gift upon leaving will be my lifelong pride and honor. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart!”

”Coach Hang, we didn’t understand your good intentions before. That was our fault.”

”Coach Hang, please come back often, we will miss you.”

”Coach Hang, we wish you all the best at your new workplace!”

”...”

Listening to everyone’s chatter, Hang Menglin wiped her eyes and looked at Feng Tianzhi, ”Take good care of them in the future, these kids are so lovable.”

Feng Tianzhi felt a little awkward, ”Coach Hang, I’ve never been hard on them, okay?” Waving his hand to the crowd, ”Alright, everyone, disperse now. Study well and train hard, that’s the best way to repay Coach Hang.”

This time, the trainees didn’t immediately follow the order and stopped only after Hang Menglin left the campus gate.

Yu Na stepped forward, looking earnestly at Hang Menglin, ”Master, I’ve decided to listen to you and become friends with Luo Ye.”

Hang Menglin patted her shoulder, ”Nana, I truly hope you can become good friends. It’s always better to have more friends than enemies on the journey ahead.”
