Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 907: Chapter 547: Old Fox

Luo Ye and Yu Wenze came to the National Computer Center naturally because of the Skynet Event. At precisely four o’clock in the afternoon, Japan’s national security system completely collapsed. As a result, Japan’s economy and military will stagnate for two to three years!

Of course, the Japanese are not stupid. They would never immediately run the system upon obtaining it. They officially connected and tested it only after three offline trials.

And Yu Wenze set it so that the virus would fully outbreak during the fourth run!

Of course, Yu Wenze isn’t a worm in their stomachs; this arrangement was implemented after a comprehensive analysis and reporting to the higher-ups.

If they installed it on the second try, we would have to send special agents to devise a strategy. If they tested more than three times and the machines completely collapsed, Japan wouldn’t gain any advantage.

Yet even he didn’t anticipate that they would follow his plans, disastrously crippling their own security network.

Special agents stationed in Japan immediately relayed this news back. Yu Wenze is the person in charge of Skynet, and Luo Ye is the problem’s discoverer. Therefore, once the incident broke out, the two were immediately picked up by helicopter and brought to the National Information Center.

Everyone could see Yu Wenze’s tension, while Luo Ye appeared relaxed but was merely concealing her true feelings well. After all, she was about to meet the Second Chief of the nation—how could she not be nervous?

In her previous life, although she joined the A Team, she never got the chance to come close to the Second Chief. That kind and gentle old man is one of the people she respects the most!

”Sorry to keep everyone waiting.” As she was lost in thought, the Second Chief entered the meeting room with brisk steps, prompting everyone to quickly stand up.

The Second Chief scanned the room and nodded to the crowd, ”Please sit down.” His eyes turned to Yu Wenze and Luo Ye, ”You must be tired from rushing over, aren’t you?”

”Not tired!” The two stood up and answered in unison, their emotions calming greatly due to the Chief’s concern.

”This is just a small-scale meeting, no need for so many formalities, please sit.” The Second Chief smiled kindly, motioning downwards with his hand.

”Chief, I have a proposal!” Director Ye Ainiang from the National Computer Center stood up.

”Little Ye, speak while seated. Otherwise, I’ll penalize you with a week’s prohibition on drinking.”

”Yes, Chief.” Ye Ainiang quickly sat down in alarm; though not a heavy drinker, he could never go a day without it—an unshakeable habit of his.

The Second Chief chuckled, teasingly, ”Little Ye, look at you so spineless, aren’t you afraid Yu Wen and Xiao Luo will laugh at you?”

”Chief, please don’t expose my weaknesses. It’s my only hobby. I’m begging you to let me off, okay?” Ye Ainiang pleaded with clasped fists.

He realized that the Second Chief was merely trying to ease the tension for Yu Wenze and Luo Ye, so he cooperated.

The Second Chief relaxed in his seat, ”What’s your proposal, Little Ye?”

”Chief, I want to invite Professor Yu Wen and Luo Ye to work in our department,” Ye Ainiang said enthusiastically.

”This matter can be discussed after the meeting, but remember, Luo Ye is a member of the Fierce Tiger Unit. Do you think your department can compete with the Fierce Tiger?” The Second Chief said with a smile, observing Luo Ye.

Luo Ye sat straight, pretending not to understand, inwardly muttering—Old Fox indeed is an Old Fox!

The Second Chief was in charge of economic development; the National Computer Center was under his oversight. Ye Ainiang’s proposal naturally aligned with his interests. However, the Fierce Tiger matter was somewhat special, so he couldn’t decide lightly and used this way to stimulate Luo Ye.

Become a full-time researcher? Luo Ye had never thought of living such a life!

”Director Ye, I think Xiao Luo is more suited for the Security Department. With her skills, it would be a waste for her to come to you,” Lin Yesong, also under the Second Chief’s management, spoke without hesitation.

Ye Ainiang glanced at him indifferently, ”The Chief said to proceed with the meeting first.”

After sipping tea, the Second Chief spoke seriously, ”As you all know, due to certain reasons, this matter cannot be publicized openly. Thus, today we hold a small-scale commendation meeting.

After research and decision-making, it has been determined to award Professor Yu Wenze and Luo Ye, who made outstanding contributions during this action, with a second-class merit.”

”Clap, clap, clap...”

Everyone stood simultaneously, offering the most enthusiastic applause. Yu Wenze and Luo Ye, faces full of emotion, expressed their thanks.

”Little Luo Ye, you also have moments of excitement?” The Second Chief smiled jokingly at her.

Luo Ye quickly straightened and saluted, ”Report Chief, I’ve been a member of A Team and now Fierce Tiger—never forgetting my instructor’s guidance. Deep inside, I’m truly excited!”

No matter how strong her control was, Luo Ye couldn’t force herself to remain calm at this moment. For someone who vowed to protect her family once she had a second chance, the honor and privileges gained from her own abilities were certainly welcome—more means more safety, for herself and her family!

The Second Chief smiled and gestured to Luo Ye to sit down, then turned to Ye Ainiang, ”Little Ye, heard that? Little Luo Ye is indirectly refusing you. I warn you, after the meeting, don’t force her.”

”Chief, I understand.” Ye Ainiang quickly expressed.

”Regardless of whether Professor Yu Wenze and Luo Ye decide to work at the National Computer Center or the National Security Center, they will both possess privileges in these two departments. In the future, if they need these departments, they can directly seek approval from the heads.”

”As long as it doesn’t affect the rules, these departments must cooperate with their actions.” The Second Chief finished, glancing at Ye Ainiang and Lin Yesong, ”Director Ye, Minister Lin, you must remember this!”

”Yes!” Both answered in unison.

”Of course, if they agree to join these departments, you must unconditionally cooperate with their work. You all know how crucial this event was to the nation, and how significant their contributions were. I expect no objections to these arrangements, right?”

”None!” This time, four people answered simultaneously.

”Alright, let’s adjourn. If there are any matters, discuss among yourselves.”

As the Second Chief spoke, his secretary handed two notes separately to Yu Wenze and Luo Ye, containing the Chief’s direct line.

Luo Ye saluted solemnly to the Second Chief, while Yu Wenze, unfamiliar with the telephone’s significance due to living abroad, awkwardly imitated Luo Ye’s salute.

However, due to his nervousness, Yu Wenze ended up appearing as if he wanted to scratch his ear but was too afraid to do so...
