Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 301: Chapter 171-172: All Present / Preparing for Military Training_3

”Qing Zhu, your family has a military background, and you, calculating from your military academy days, have been a veteran for six years. You should be very clear about the consequences of reporting late.”

Ye Qingzhu raised her eyebrows: ”I just feel it’s a pity. Looking at the profile of this trainee, the family situation is not good. He hasn’t arrived to report yet, and most likely something unexpected has occurred. Unfortunately, there’s no phone number left, so we couldn’t even ask if we wanted to.”

”Let’s wait until 12 o’clock to discuss further. If it’s past the time, I can only send the profile back tomorrow morning. This is the military; discipline comes first.”

”Alright.” Ye Qingzhu opened a book, calmed her mind, and began to study. Due to her outstanding performance, she was allowed to stay at school after graduating from undergraduate studies and was specially approved to be a graduate student while working. She cannot relax in her studies.

”Ring ring ring...” Suddenly, the phone rang urgently.

”It’s probably Miaomiao’s family.” Captain Xiang answered the phone.

”Hello, this is the office of Team 5 at GF University... Yes, alright, I understand, we will wait until 12 o’clock, don’t worry.”

”It was really Miaomiao’s parents?”

Captain Huang shook his head: ”It was a doctor from Hospital Four. Miaomiao’s mother had an intestinal obstruction that led to a ruptured intestine and was hospitalized the day before yesterday. Miaomiao has been taking care of her there. This doctor incidentally discovered that Miaomiao was accepted into GF University and said he would discuss the details when he arrives.”

”This doctor is quite good.” Ye Qingzhu let out a long sigh, then frowned: ”Looking at Miaomiao’s file, she only has her mother in her family. She’s a child with a tough life.”

...

At ten minutes to twelve, Zhong Yi finally brought Miaomiao over. Seeing her eyes swollen like peaches, Captain Xiang sighed: ”Miaomiao, I am Xiang Mingliang, your captain of Team 5. This is Instructor Ye Qingzhu. Let Instructor Ye take you to the dormitory to rest, and I will handle the procedures for you.”

”Thank you, Captain. Thank you, Instructor.” Miaomiao took a few steps, then looked uneasily towards Zhong Yi. Zhong Yi hurriedly waved his hand: ”The hospital will take good care of your mother, don’t worry. Once your mother is out of danger, I will find a way to notify you.”

”You can call our office then, I’ll also leave you my mobile number.” Ye Qingzhu looked at Zhong Yi with relief, took a pen, and left her personal and office phone numbers for him.

”Alright, I will definitely call you in time.” Zhong Yi smiled and left his phone number as well: ”If this child gets emotional and misses her mother, feel free to call me.”

Miaomiao blushed and stamped her foot: ”I... I won’t get emotional.”

”Come on, let’s go to rest. I believe Dr. Zhong will explain the situation to Captain Huang clearly.” Ye Qingzhu walked out with her arm around Miaomiao.

Miaomiao bit her lip: ”Instructor, can you not tell my classmates about my situation?”

”Of course.” Ye Qingzhu responded promptly.

Miaomiao mumbled in explanation: ”I’m not afraid of losing face; I just don’t want others to pity me, sympathize with me, or take care of me because of this. Since I’ve come to the military academy, I need to be a qualified soldier to be worthy of Dr. Zhong.”

Ye Qingzhu nodded: ”Rest assured, Captain Xiang and I will not provide extra care either. For the sake of your future, we cannot do that.”

”Yes!” Miaomiao nodded solemnly. ”Instructor, I used to always feel that my mother’s and my fate were hard, that heaven was cruel to us. But after this incident, I don’t think so anymore. The day my mom fell ill, I was supposed to work at McDonald’s. Just before leaving, I noticed something was off with her complexion and asked if she was uncomfortable, and she bore the pain saying it was nothing.

Not completely at ease, I dawdled and changed clothes. Just in that moment, her face was covered with sweat beads the size of beans.

Within ten minutes, her clothes and hair were soaked through. I was terrified, I called the emergency number and was so scared that I held my mom and cried, even forgetting to look for money.

When my mother was admitted to the hospital, her intestines had already ruptured, and the treating doctor was fortunately Dr. Zhong. He allowed us not to pay the deposit and operated on my mother. I heard nurses discussing that she wouldn’t have survived another twenty minutes.

Being able to report here was also thanks to Dr. Zhong who found my admission notice, contacted the dean on a short notice, and finally agreed with the dean that the hospital would arrange special nursing care for my mom, with the nursing fees covered by the hospital. Instructor, don’t you think I am very fortunate?”

Ye Qingzhu nodded: ”Yes, such hospitals and doctors are rare. You are indeed a fortunate child. Let go of your burdens, achieve good results, and repay those who have helped you selflessly.”
