Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 318: Chapter 182: 400-Meter Obstacle Course (Part 2)

”Yes!”

”Shao Bo, I beat you by two seconds, you need to step it up!” The instructor of the second class boasted as he waved his stopwatch at Shao Bo.

”Your watch is inaccurate!” Shao Bo kicked a small stone over.

”Are you afraid of losing face, huh?”

”Ha ha ha...” The students laughed at the antics of the two instructors, while the instructor from the fourth class joined in the fun: ”What are you bragging about? I haven’t even mentioned my 1 minute 17 seconds yet!”

Shao Bo smirked at the fourth class instructor: ”I say, when today’s training ends, let’s have a big competition of results, do you dare?”

The fourth class instructor puffed out his chest: ”Why not? But it’s boring with just our three classes. How about we unite the other classes, a competition among 26 classes, how about that?”

Shao Bo smiled and said: ”You go talk to the chief instructor about this, it’s best to include all 28 classes from the East Playground, and set up the seating order in advance.”

The platoon leader of the fourth class nodded: ”Good idea, it’s better for Ma Chong to handle this. We’ll get Ma Chong to sort this out during the break.”

The second class instructor looked displeased: ”Hey, Wang Song, that’s really mean of you. Why do I have to go find the boss alone?”

”Training already.” Shao Bo waved his hand and rejoined his team: ”Yu Na, you go first, don’t be afraid of falling, believe that you can do well.”

”Yes, Instructor!” Yu Na quickly started running and dashed forward.

”Is our platoon leader really that amazing?” Bai Qingchu, dumbfounded, watched Yu Na vault over the high wall and nudged Yao Juanjuan in front: ”Don’t you feel a bit more confident now?”

”That’s true. It looks like the 400-meter obstacle course is really as the chief instructor said, it looks scary but actually isn’t, do you think it’s unnecessary to have two protective soldiers at each obstacle course?” Yao Juanjuan was eager to try.

Xing Nong pinched Luo Ye: ”It’s done for, someone got mislead...” nodding towards Yu Na who was crossing the low hurdle net: ”Luoluo, can you beat her?”

”I don’t know.” Luo Ye shook her head; Yu Na’s performance didn’t surprise her, having trained since sixth grade, it would be a joke if even this couldn’t be accomplished well.

”How do I feel that overtaking her is a bit difficult?” Xing Nong, propping his chin, looked troubled: ”Luoluo, if you get selected, I must be selected too. I want to be with you.”

”Me too!” Yaoguang poked Xing Nong discontentedly: ”Why do you always forget about me?”

Xing Nong smiled ingratiatingly: ”I haven’t seen your skills, I can’t just say anything.”

Yao Juanjuan glanced back at Xing Nong: ”I’m saying, with 27 classes on this playground and 28 more on the East Playground, out of so many people, only 16 are chosen, how can you be so arrogant?”

”I’m definitely better than you anyway.” Xing Nong rolling his eyes: ”I’m confident, I’m happy about it, is that wrong?”

Yao Juanjuan scoffed: ”You’re just narcissistic!”

Seeing that Xing Nong was still arguing with Yao Juanjuan, Luo Ye quickly poked her: ”Stop it, Yu Na is coming back.”

Shao Bo, looking at his stopwatch, genuinely praised: ”1 minute 30 seconds, even among serving soldiers that’s excellent, Yu Na, well done!”

Yu Na’s face was filled with joy: ”Thank you, Instructor, for your praise. I will warm up a bit, I should be able to improve!”

Shao Bo nodded: ”Good, I look forward to your next performance, go stand at the back.”

Next up was Miaomiao; although her speed was slow in the first three items, she managed to pass. However, during the high jump platform, she kept sliding down the middle of the sloped wall, and after three attempts, Shao Bo called her back to go behind Yu Na and get some tips, and to calm down before trying again.

Miaomiao’s cheeks twitched faintly, but obediently she stood behind Yu Na.

”Finally, it’s my turn!” Yao Juanjuan, rubbing her hands excitedly, didn’t wait for Shao Bo to start and dashed out, stepping on the triple-step pegs, she realized that imagination and reality were different. She slipped and fell hard to the side, climbing out of the sandpit, Yao Juanjuan glared at the soldier standing by the pit: ”Why didn’t you help me?”

The soldier glanced at Yao Juanjuan: ”We make specific judgments, please continue!”

Reluctantly, Yao Juanjuan went back to start again. This time she passed the triple-step pegs successfully, and although there were delays at the trench, low wall, high jump platform, and single-log bridge, she managed to get across.

When it came to the high wall, others climbed up and hung at the top, refusing to come down. Coincidentally, Feng Xiaoting from the second class hanged beside her on the high wall, each side of the wall topped with one, quite symmetric.

No matter how much Shao Bo encouraged, it didn’t help, so he had no choice but to let the two protective soldiers pull Yao Juanjuan down. Originally crying with tears and snot all over, when Yao Juanjuan saw a soldier from the second class get knocked down by Feng Xiaoting’s plump body, she immediately burst into laughter!

With this little episode, the atmosphere among the three connected classes relaxed quite a bit.

”Xing, you’re the best!” Luo Ye and Yaoguang simultaneously slapped Xing Nong on the shoulder.

”Don’t worry, I won’t let the girls down!” Xing Nong returned them a reassuring smile, then tensed up his little face and started running!

Xing Nong’s explosive power and jumping ability were very good. Although he wasn’t as fast as Yu Na, the quality of his movements was not bad. Gasping for breath as he stood in front of Shao Bo, Shao Bo nodded with satisfaction: ”1 minute 46 seconds, not bad!”

”Wow wow wow!” Luo Ye and Yaoguang led the applause, and then Miaomiao and Bai Qingchu also joined in, only Yao Juanjuan pouted, clearly discontented.

As Xing Nong walked towards the back of the team, he nudged Luo Ye: ”Luoluo, I’m not asking you to be faster than the instructor, but you can’t be too much slower than him either!”

Shao Bo’s lips twitched, but he said nothing.
