Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 300: Chapter 171-172: All Present / Preparing for Military Training_2

Miaomiao’s expression turned even more gloomy: ”Yes, but I’ve decided not to go. I’ve grown up now, and it’s time for me to take care of my mother.” That was her and her mother’s dream, but what could be done about it?

”You got into GF University?” Zhong Yi exclaimed with surprise after opening the admission letter.

”Yes.” A hint of shyness flashed across Miaomiao’s face, obviously very proud of having been admitted to this military academy, the Tsinghua of military schools.

”The deadline for reporting is tonight at 12 o’clock?” Zhong Yi frowned. He was well aware of GF University’s strictness; if one missed the deadline, no excuse would work, and they would be disqualified.

”Yes.” Miaomiao looked at the admission letter she had touched countless times, her face full of longing and reluctance: ”I want to keep it as a permanent memento. To me, my mother is more important than anything.”

...

In Dorm 3.

Although lights out had already been sounded, for these kids experiencing military life for the first time, falling asleep immediately was impossible.

In the afternoon, Luo Ye and Yu Na returned to the dorm, and after a brief incident, their relationships had thawed significantly. However, listening closely, Yao Juanjuan clearly sided with Yu Na. Bai Qingchu remained neutral, Li Qing didn’t want to offend either side, and Xing Nongyao was still indifferent towards Yu Na. These relationships would probably take some more time to truly warm up.

Of course, the most satisfied with the current situation was Yu Na. Compared to the morning, this was a vast improvement.

Star Manipulating glanced at the time and peeked under the bunk: ”Luoluo, there are only two hours left until the deadline for reporting. Could Miaomiao have given up?”

”It’s impossible to conclude anything until the very last second. Maybe she’s been held up by something.”

Star Manipulating chuckled mischievously: ”Is it going to be like in the movies, where she shows up at the last second for a dramatic turnaround?”

Yao Juanjuan suddenly sat up excitedly: ”Guess if she’s from a remote mountain area and her family is so poor they couldn’t afford a ticket, and she walked and walked to report, but then got lost, and a kindhearted person saved her. Being an honest kid, she’s so grateful she decides to devote herself to them, hahaha...”

Star Manipulating snorted: ”You’re being too mean!”

”How am I mean? Anything’s possible, right? Maybe right now Miaomiao is busy getting into the wedding chamber, hahaha...”

”I’d say, accumulate some virtue for yourself. Even if you’re looking forward to changing bunkmates, there’s no need to curse others like that,” Bai Qingchu couldn’t bear to hear anymore.

Yao Juanjuan lay back down, disillusioned, ”Fine, fine, you all are good, kind people, and I’m the only bad one, okay?”

”Maybe someone took my place like what happened to me? No, that’s not right, even if someone did, they should have come to report.” Li Qing got out of bed, slipped to the door, and peeked outside: ”Ah, not a sound.”

Yu Na sat up: ”Alright, everyone needs to rest. Stop worrying and guessing. This is not something we can control. Tomorrow we have to get haircuts, memorize the oath, and learn the basic regulations and rules. Our class can’t lag behind!”

”Yes, Squad Leader!” Yao Juanjuan was the first to respond.

”Bootlicker.” Yaoguang muttered under her breath, following the moonlight and seeing Star Manipulating’s cheeks glistening. She crawled onto Star Manipulating’s bed and whispered, ”Star Manipulating, are you missing home so much you’re crying?”

”Of all things to miss, why home?” Star Manipulating pouted: ”I would only cry because I miss home if the sun rises from the west. I finally escaped from my grandma’s oily surveillance. Oh, how happy I am!”

Yaoguang touched Yaoguang’s cheek: ”Then why is your face all wet?”

”I’m sweating, can’t I?” Star Manipulating pushed the other away: ”Go on, go back to your own bed. It’s so hot, don’t come over and crowd me.”

”Dear Nong, you miss your parents, don’t you?” Luo Ye also peeked over: ”Don’t blame them, they were also helpless.”

”I’m not homesick, why are you two forcing me to admit it? Go lie down and sleep,” Star Manipulating turned to face the wall, ignoring them both.

Inside Office 206.

Captain Xiang checked the time: ”There’s only one hour left until 12 o’clock, why hasn’t Miaomiao come yet? Nowadays, kids are too lax...” He sighed before continuing: ”Some came driving BMWs, some were sent off by a whole family of six, some even brought their girlfriends or boyfriends for a tour, each one more troublesome than the last!”

”These cadets are all born after the ’80s; it’s normal for them to be a bit delicate. They’ll get better after a while. Captain Xiang, what do we do if Miaomiao doesn’t come by 12 o’clock?”
