She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 89: Chapter 89 I will Promote

Sheng Ning returned to the dormitory area alone in a daze and stopped by the restroom first. When she came out, she ran into Qin Cuifen who was walking in.

“Stop right there.” Qin Cuifen, with a fierce tone and a dark face, rushed up to her and said, “Sheng Ning, you slut, it wasn’t enough that you seduced Shen Jian Guo? You even dared to seduce Xu Qigang.”

“Which eye of yours saw that?”

“Don’t deny it—I’m just kindly warning you. Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you have the face of a vixen. If you dare to date someone, the union will definitely fire you.” Qin Cuifen threatened her triumphantly.

Sheng Ning sneered. In her past life, she had eagerly encouraged her to date someone, just to get her fired from the Song and Dance Troupe. And now, she was warning her again—was she scared?

Scared that she would actually steal Shen Jianguo away, or couldn’t bear to see her marry Xu Qigang?

...

“I will be promoted.”

Sheng Ning’s expression was indifferent. She indeed liked Xu Qigang, but she wasn’t brainless. The General Union Song and Dance Troupe had a rule that forbade dating before promotion, and she planned to step by step earnestly do everything well in this life so that she wouldn’t be used by others like in her past life.

“You? Don’t flatter yourself. You should take a good look in the mirror.”

“I’m prettier than you even without looking in the mirror.”

“You…” Qin Cuifen almost choked with anger. She had not expected Sheng Ning to become so shameless.

“That’s the truth.” Sheng Ning seriously surveyed her and said with sympathy, “You were already quite dark. After a month of intensive training, you’ll probably look no different from charcoal.”

Qin Cuifen jumped up in anger on the spot. Nothing infuriated her more in this lifetime than Sheng Ning being prettier and having fairer skin than her. “Aaaah… Sheng Ning, you bitch, I will never let you off.”

Many people had come to use the restroom, and the women entering and leaving looked at Qin Cuifen in surprise when they heard the commotion, their gazes filled with both astonishment and schadenfreude.

Amid her fury, Qin Cuifen felt as if someone had doused her with a bucket of cold water, calming her instantly. She couldn’t let Sheng Ning ruin the gentle and kind image she had painstakingly maintained.

“Sheng Ning, I was just joking with you.” Qin Cuifen had a sickly sweet smile on her face as she stepped forward trying to grab Sheng Ning’s arm but was coldly pushed away. Before she could steady herself, Sheng Ning raised her hand and slapped her across the face, making Qin Cuifen stagger, her cheeks burning with pain.

With both hands covering her face and tears in her eyes, she looked at Sheng Ning pitifully and said, “How could you hit me? I treated you like a close sister…”

“Cuifen, I’m just joking with you too! You’re not mad, right?” In terms of coquetry and smiles, she could outmatch her a hundred times over.

Sheng Ning looked at Qin Cuifen with a smile and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, “Using the same trick twice, don’t you find it boring?”

“Sheng Ning, I will not let you off,” Qin Cuifen said, her eyes filled with vengeful hatred as if she wanted to tear her face apart.

“Mutual feelings, just now that slap was merely to counter the false accusations against me. For the rest, we’ll settle slowly.” Sheng Ning’s eyes narrowed dangerously, her bright eyes turbulent.

“What… what are you talking about? I don’t understand,” Qin Cuifen stammered as she involuntarily stepped back, her heart in turmoil. She had made the report anonymously; how could she know?

No… she definitely didn’t know and was just bluffing.

“As long as we both know,” Sheng Ning said and then walked away with her head held high. She didn’t need to deliberately shape her image like Qin Cuifen as her reputation in the Song and Dance Troupe was already sullied.

She was herself, unwilling to please anyone. She believed that her future self could definitely make it by relying on her own efforts and speak through her abilities.

By her achievements, she would gain the respect of others.
