She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 52: Chapter 052: Changes in Physique

Zhang Hongmei stood in the yard, holding a broom, dumbfounded. Ever since Sheng Ning fell off the stage, her personality had changed drastically, and she had become even more beautiful than before.

Sheng Ning originally wanted to help Zhang Hongmei, but thinking about her own reputation, she decided against it. Zhang Hongmei sweeping early in the morning would be seen as diligence, but if she went to sweep, she would definitely be scolded for being hypocritical and putting on a show.

Besides, she also didn’t want to steal the limelight from Hongmei.

Back in the dormitory, Sheng Ning pulled out a big cardboard box from under the bed and laid it on the floor to start doing yoga. This was something she had learned from a fellow inmate in prison and had kept up for many years.

After her rebirth, once her leg healed, she developed the habit of doing yoga for an hour every morning.

Dancing had already missed the optimal age period, and maintaining the basic strength through persistent yoga practice could make up for this shortfall.

She timed it perfectly. When the wake-up call sounded, she finished her yoga session just as her two roommates were getting out of bed.

“Hurry up, hurry up…” Zhao Feifei hurriedly urged Wu Youli. After washing up, they saw that Sheng Ning was already dressed neatly. Having held back the entire night, she couldn’t resist sneering, “Oh! Not lounging in bed anymore? The sun must have risen from the west.”

“Feifei, stop it,” Wu Youli tugged at her sleeve.

Zhao Feifei snorted coldly, “I just don’t get it. How did our perfectly fine dorm end up with this plague? Because of her, I don’t even dare to tell people I’m in dorm 309.”

This was the true reason Zhao Feifei disliked Sheng Ning.

“I’m sorry,” Sheng Ning apologized with a smile. “I really like dorm 309. If you don’t like it, you can move out.”

“What do you mean by that?” Zhao Feifei nearly jumped up in anger.

“Just what I said.”

“You… are too much. No wonder everyone says you’re a fickle bitch,” Zhao Feifei, enraged, finally voiced the thought she had long harbored.

Sheng Ning looked at her with an expressionless face.

Wu Youli was so scared, “Feifei, how can you say that? She’s our dorm mate.”

“Hmph! Does she even deserve it?” Zhao Feifei stormed out angrily, determined to request a dorm switch today.

“Sheng Ning, I’m sorry. She has a bad temper. I apologize on her behalf,” Wu Youli’s eyes were red with urgency and she kept apologizing.

Casually insulting a fellow union member could get Feifei into trouble if reported.

“No need, it has nothing to do with you,” Sheng Ning said and then turned to leave. She needed to submit her self-reflection letter before training and didn’t have time to argue.

The union had strict military-style management. Every morning, everyone had to run laps around the track: twenty laps for men, ten for women. After running, they would go to the cafeteria for breakfast and then proceed to their respective group rehearsals.

Sheng Ning finished her ten laps without changing her expression. She was surprised to realize her stamina had actually improved. She had noticed hints of this before when selling bean sprouts at the market but hadn’t been sure.

Only now did she dare to confirm. The ten laps that used to exhaust her in her past life were now completed without even altering her breathing.

She clenched her fist, feeling like she could run another ten laps without a problem.

After turning in her self-reflection letter, it was quickly posted on the union announcement board. The announcement board was in a very prominent place, right at the crossroads that all vehicles and pedestrians must pass after entering the main gate.

At noon, a black jeep drove unimpeded through the gate. When the guard at the gate saw the familiar license plate, he immediately snapped to attention and greeted it.

Even passersby who saw the license plate stood at attention to salute.
