She Lives without Regret in This Life

Chapter 71: Chapter 071: Blood-colored Twin Flowers

“Somebody deliberately framed me,” Sheng Ning said calmly. “I can prove my innocence.”

Su Hai waved a hand, “Sun Gan, prepare paper and pen.”

“Right away.” Sun Gan quickly handed paper and pen to Sheng Ning, clearly well-prepared in advance.

Sheng Ning, feeling indignant, didn’t even thank him as she took the paper and pen and bowed her head, mulling over what to write.

Before, self-criticism gave Qin Cuifen the chance to slander her; this time she had to fight back fiercely. As for how to counterattack, that was a problem.

Su Hai watched the girl in front of him with great interest, not hurrying her.

Sun Gan behind him was staring wide-eyed at Su Hai.

Eureka! Sheng Ning’s eyes lit up. Wu Youli worked at the Song and Dance Troupe, and to properly thank her newly acquainted friend, she could write a drama for Wu Youli.

The outline was already forming in her mind; she just needed to refine it to meet the aesthetic tastes of the time while incorporating positive thinking.

Sheng Ning’s expression was one of focused concentration as she rapidly sketched out ideas on the paper, her delicate handwriting splashed across page after page. Whenever she was dissatisfied with a section, she would crumple the draft and toss it onto the floor without thinking, then continue writing.

Sun Gan, who had been standing up straight, saw her actions and glowered with disapproval, ready to scold her but stopped by a look from Su Hai.

As time flew by, Sheng Ning’s stomach grumbled with hunger before she finally put down her pen. She looked satisfied at the thick stack of thirty-odd sheets of paper, showing the first smile on her face since she had come in.

“Does it have a name?” a casual voice asked from above her.

“Yes, ‘Blood Rose,’” Sheng Ning confidently wrote the title on the first page with her pen.

Spy dramas were the hottest trend of the twenty-first century, and Sheng Ning also enjoyed watching them when the maidens at the hotel were engrossed in them in her previous life.

Thus, she set the story in a thriving city full of mystery and intrigue. Two young female students, one from a poor household and the other from a wealthy one, dedicated themselves to the revolutionary cause for the same belief. Navigating between the shades of black and white, fire and ice, they devised ingenious strategies and with their intelligence and kindness, thwarted the enemy’s plots time and again, ultimately sacrificing their precious lives.

The story was long, and Sheng Ning was about to thoroughly review it when unexpectedly, someone snatched the sheets of paper from her.

“Not bad writing. The handwriting matches too. It can prove that you wrote the self-criticism yourself,” Su Hai glanced at it and stood up, saying, “Sun Gan, take Comrade Sheng Ning back.”

“Yes, Director Su.” Sun Gan’s expression showed none of his previous harshness and he very politely gestured to Sheng Ning.

“My script…” Sheng Ning stood still, pointing to the manuscript Su Hai held in his hand. She had been so absorbed while writing that she hadn’t had a chance to carefully review it afterward.

Moreover, it was the gift she had intended for Wu Youli.

“Oh, the script? This is evidence of your innocence; I need to submit it to the higher authorities,” Su Hai said seriously with his hands clasped behind his back. “Or are you dissatisfied and don’t want Sun Gan to escort you?”

“No, thank you!” A wise man does not eat the loss before his eyes; holding back her dissatisfaction, Sheng Ning had no choice but to leave dejectedly.

The effect of Sun Gan escorting her back was completely different from her returning alone.

Along the way, when people from the Song and Dance Troupe saw her, they showed eyes full of disdain. But as soon as they recognized Sun Gan by her side, they immediately fell silent as if struck by cold fear.
