I Can Gain One Skill Point Per Second

Chapter 749: The Ultimate Match

Upon hearing this, it was clear that this Parallel Blue Star from a millennium later had never played a card-based strategy game.

At first glance, there was a significant data disparity between the challenger and the NPC-controlled puppets. With equal life values, the challenger was at a considerable disadvantage.

But with a little bit of thought, those disadvantages could be rendered nonexistent.

After all, NPCs are not like players; they can’t release their skills at just the right moment. NPCs often release whatever skill they have.

In situational speed suppression, skills are not better off released faster, such as in the case of the Guardian Puppet.

The Guardian Puppet has a focused skill effect that prevents interruption when casting, making it immune to control, so placing it in the third slot is the best choice.

Placed in this position, there is no problem with the NPC’s Charm Puppet being slower than the Guardian Puppet, and Lin Yi can fully capitalize on the control effect of the Charm Puppet.

So, Lin Yi adopted such a positioning strategy.

Lin Yi positioned his first row of three slots, 147, to the far right. To increase targeting ability and take down the potentially game-turning Healing Puppet early, he placed the Chaos, Healing, and Blinding Puppets in the bottom row at slots 789.

Meanwhile, the Guardian Puppet was placed in the middle row at the far back, in slot 6.

Thus, forming a positioning strategy where Charm, Healing, Guardian, and Blinding Puppets occupied slots 1234 respectively.

”Don’t worry, nothing is impossible. It’s just that our attributes are a bit worse than the opponent’s, it’s a small problem. Just watch my moves.”

Nangong Ling and Sun Dachuan also had worried expressions. If they didn’t understand Lin Yi well enough, they would have tried to persuade him to abandon the challenge and skip the level.

At this point, it seemed the only option left was to pray for Lin Yi’s smooth passage through the level.

As the lights came on, the entire theater was illuminated.

Eight puppets appeared before the crowd.

As the countdown hit zero, the battle commenced.

At the precise moment the countdown ended, Lin Yi decisively pressed the skill button of the Guardian Puppet.

Lin Yi’s Guardian Puppet was in the third hand slot, where its skill could be interrupted while being cast.

Coincidentally, there was a mechanism where, when a challenger used a skill, the NPC would certainly release an interrupt skill.

Indeed, just as the skill icon appeared above Lin Yi’s Guardian Puppet, the enemy’s Chaos Puppet immediately released an interrupt skill to try and interrupt the skill of Lin Yi’s Guardian Puppet.

The focused effect was activated.

Successfully immune to the control effect of the Chaos Puppet.

The next moment, the Guardian skill successfully triggered.

Due to both sides having only 20 energy points, even with three extra skills on cooldown this round, they could not be released.

After both sides had exhausted their skills, only the regular attack once per round was left.

Because Lin Yi’s puppets were faster, Lin Yi’s Chaos Puppet in the first slot initiated the attack first, targeting the opponent’s Healing Puppet. It hit successfully, causing 300 points of damage.

The opponent’s Healing Puppet’s life value dropped from 3000 to 2700 points.

With Lin Yi’s puppet in the first slot’s action completed, it was the NPC’s first slot Guardian Puppet’s turn to attack.

Dodge!

After using the Guardian skill successfully, the Guardian Puppet’s dodge rate reached 100%, so the NPC’s Guardian Puppet’s move didn’t cause any damage to Lin Yi’s Guardian Puppet.

Action opportunity was given back to Lin Yi. Lin Yi’s Healing Puppet launched a regular attack, hitting the NPC’s bottom Healing Puppet, reducing its life value from 2700 to 2400.

With this action ended, the action opportunity was given to the NPC’s second slot Chaos Puppet.

Even though there was no alignment effect, the Chaos Puppet’s attack was attracted to the Guardian Puppet by the taunt effect, and the attack was dodged again.

Attack opportunities were given back to Lin Yi.

The Guardian Puppet at slot 6 attacked the opponent’s Guardian Puppet, dealing 300 damage, reducing the opponent’s Guardian Puppet’s life value from 3000 to 2700.

The turn continued to rotate.

Under the influence of the Guardian skill, Lin Yi didn’t lose a single point of life this round, instead hitting the opponent’s Healing Puppet to 2100 life points.

Even though the first turn achieved a certain advantage, the opponent also had the Guardian skill. With Lin Yi’s Guardian skill entering a 2-turn cooldown, how should Lin Yi resist in the next round?

As the offense and defense exchange concluded, the turn moved to the second.

This time, both parties started with 40 energy points.

This meant both sides could use two skills.

However, the NPCs remained NPCs, with flawed skill release priorities.

As the team’s puppets lost some life value, the Healing Puppet would prioritize healing itself.

Secondly, the control effect of the Blinding Puppet.

But with Lin Yi’s meticulous calculations, everything became futile.

The opponent’s Healing Puppet was in the fourth slot.

The skill release speed naturally couldn’t match Lin Yi’s Chaos Puppet in the first slot.

Thus, when the skill icon just appeared above the Healing Puppet, Lin Yi commanded his Chaos Puppet to target the enemy’s Healing Puppet, while his own Chaos skill entered a two-turn cooldown.

While interrupting the opponent’s healing effect, a two-turn chaos effect was also imposed on the enemy’s Healing Puppet, causing it to attack its own teammates during its action turns.

The Healing Puppet’s skill was very critical.

Lin Yi had to ensure that the Chaos Puppet’s skill cooled down alongside the opponent’s skill.

The opponent’s puppet’s life value was three times that of Lin Yi’s puppets. If this Healing Puppet were to release its skill, it could instantly restore 3000 life points to the opponent’s puppets.

Given such harsh conditions, to win within 12 rounds, Lin Yi could not allow the Healing Puppet to use its skills.

The skill icon of the Blinding Puppet lit up simultaneously. With no other interrupting skill at hand, Lin Yi had to let it release its skill first.

The next moment, the skill was released successfully, and Lin Yi’s puppets in slots three and four, the Guardian Puppet and Blinding Puppet, were simultaneously blinded, unable to hit the opponent.

A good opportunity!

With 20 energy remaining, Lin Yi wasn’t in a hurry to cast.

The randomly blinded rear puppets, Lin Yi wasn’t anxious at all, allowing the turn rotation to proceed in an orderly fashion.

The Chaos Puppet started attacking, hitting the enemy’s Healing Puppet, reducing its life value from 2100 to 1800.

Then it was the enemy’s first slot Guardian Puppet’s turn, which successfully drained 300 life points from Lin Yi’s Guardian Puppet.

Returning the attack exchange, Lin Yi’s second slot Healing Puppet followed up, dealing 300 damage to the enemy’s Healing Puppet, bringing its life value successfully to half.

Immediately afterward, the NPC’s Chaos Puppet acted, striking Lin Yi’s Guardian Puppet again, successfully reducing the Guardian Puppet’s life value below half.
