Bear School Astartes

With the two large barrels of the Ferocious Tyrannosaurus Kidney Grinding Liquid prepared in advance, Lann’s development of the Big Appetite Energy potion material is finally complete.

The Crystal Cultivation Laboratory not only has crystal cultivation equipment as its most critical asset but also contains many normal alchemy devices.

These are more than enough for Lann to use.

The Demon Hunter starts to ignite the furnace, heating the small pot used for alchemy.

During the process of creating the Big Appetite Energy, he only failed once at the very beginning.

That was because the medicinal herbs grew in this Magical Middle Ages, leading to reduced and fluctuating drug efficacy.

Ultimately, that potion became a foul-smelling and ineffective ’kidney soup.’

However, under Lann’s alchemical talent, it was only the first failure.

”Local medicinal material efficacy data is being re-entered... estimation completed, error value is within the acceptable range, uploading... upload completed, please review, sir.”

Mentos completed the previously somewhat laborious task methodically, if not effortlessly.

Almost the instant Lann’s first attempt failed, the new data was already adjusted and floated at the corner of the Demon Hunter’s retina for reference.

From the Human Union’s stipulated middle school stage, the computing power authority has progressed to the high school stage, offering Mentos a huge boost in work efficiency.

In the past, it at least required Lann to perform several more failed experiments to summarize the reasons based on a large amount of failed data.

Observational detail, data integration ability, computing ability, and speed... Mentos’ improvement at this stage is totally incomparable to before.

After a simple glance at the data provided by Mentos, ideas about dozens of processing methods instantly burst in the Demon Hunter’s mind.

How to compensate for drug efficacy, or simply modify the formula to weaken the entire potion to match the efficacy and then enhance the effect through increasing dosage...

All these flashes of inspiration were handed over to the bio-brain, which filtered out the most feasible options after computational validation.

Then in the second preparation, a weakened version of the Big Appetite Energy, compared to the original which used entirely New World materials, came out of the pot.

Lann picked up the alchemy pot, bringing his eyes closer to investigate the viscosity and color of the potion inside by rotating the pot.

”If it was made into the form of slow-release capsules, the absorption efficiency of the potion could be further improved. Or directly change the absorption path to suppository route absorbed by the small intestine?”

Continuous flashes of inspiration burst in Lann’s mind, the flash of insight difficult to pursue for conventional alchemists is just a routine state in his research and experimentation.

Soon after, Lann shook his head, abandoned these ideas, and let Mentos just archive the records.

It seems now that the transplantation of New World plants is progressing well, although the efficacy of medicine is visibly reduced, the medicinal properties have not fundamentally changed.

As long as the user level is high enough to modify the formula appropriately, it can still be used.

Moreover, he planned to spend some time to go to the New World again, placing the two barrels of Ferocious Tyrannosaurus Kidney Grinding Liquid in the Investigation Team’s Star Base, after which he could access all the materials he needed.

He could pack as many local-grown materials from the New World as he desired.

These materials are not considered precious in the New World itself, only the need to ’import’ them across worlds poses a headache.

After modifying his formula, Lann swiftly and skillfully brewed a few more pots.

After bottling them, it amounted to precisely twelve bottles.

Two of these are to be handed over to Maria and Adeline to support their body during the blood transfusion process.

The original Big Appetite Energy potion was developed with the concept of slow, long-lasting effects in mind.

After modification, to improve human absorption efficiency, Lann extended the onset time of this potion directly to four days.

Meaning in these four days, the potion would induce a strong sense of hunger in the user, while at the same time, after satisfying nutritional needs, the body’s metabolism and recovery rate would be far beyond normal conditions.

On the table lined twelve crystal-clear glass bottles of potion.

Lann first separated out two bottles from the side, then looked down at the remaining ten bottles.

He first shook his head, sighed deeply with a look complicated and hard to decipher, but eventually still stored them properly in his alchemy pouch.

Delivering the remaining two alchemy potions to Maria and Adeline, both of whom are very understanding individuals, noticing how busy Airetusa Academy is right now.

They didn’t want to cause additional trouble, thus did not wander unnecessarily, enabling Lann to easily find them in the room arranged for them.

Maria, somewhat curious, grabbed the potion bottle, enough to hold with one hand, against the sunlight outside the window, observing the translucent potion liquid.

”These potions... can they really help our blood regenerate quickly?”

”Yes, they certainly don’t have the uncomfortable feel of the products from the Healing Church Workshop.”

She murmured softly.

Lann tilted his head in disagreement.

The sedatives from the Healing Church Workshop were originally concentrated human blood. Lead Elixir was said to be obtained from the most despairing and deepest realms of dreams.

...This style is indeed a characteristic of the magical items within Yan’an.

Potions like the alchemy products in Lann’s hand would naturally seem ’harmless’ and ’normal’ to Maria by comparison.

But then, Maria handed another bottle of Big Appetite Energy to Adeline, while whispering softly and hesitantly to Lann.

”We... we’re wondering if we should relocate?”

When Lann turned his face, Maria continued.

”This place is too busy after all, and now, can’t we start the blood exchange?”

The Demon Hunter glanced at Maria and then at Adeline, who smiled awkwardly beside her.

”Indeed, it’s not quite convenient.” Lann said, rubbing his chin, ”It’s just that the warlocks have their conference coming up, but no need to worry. I do have another place where you can rest and receive treatment; I’ll take you there later.”

As he spoke, the Demon Hunter raised an eyebrow, looking at Maria’s waist where the dark yet fierce Long Blade, Fallen Leaves, hung.

”Once we’re there, perhaps you can use your skills to help me discipline those folks.”

”Discipline?” Maria’s face, usually indifferent, showed a rare hint of insecurity, ”You mean... kids?”

”No, it’s a group of knights, tall and bulky ones.” Lann’s expression turned awkward due to speechlessness, ”Just that... they’re quite strong-minded. Hmm!”

After making arrangements with Maria and Adeline, Lann did not linger in the bustling Airetusa Academy, and instead donned his hooded cloak, left the academy gates, and walked into Gos Velen City.

Currently at Airetusa, merchants’ goods were continually flowing in and out of the academy in preparation for the upcoming warlock conference.

The academy’s entrance was usually busy, and now was even more congested, forming a traffic jam that extended two hundred meters.

The cart-pulling pack horses wagged their tails, mixed with undigested hay, their dung dropped to the ground and crumbled into semi-dry clumps.

The stench of livestock and sounds mixed with scattered trails of horse and cow dung along the road, marking the queue of vehicles.

The herbivore dung wasn’t too disgusting, but still attracted swarms of horseflies and flies, buzzing around the congested convoy under the autumn weather.

The livestock, harassed by insects, kept swishing their tails and blinking, while the irritated drivers could only use their straw hats to fan themselves constantly, cursing their slow-moving peers ahead to simply crash off the bridge.

Underneath his hood, Lann’s expression remained calm, as he squeezed through the crowded bridge connecting Airetusa’s main gate to Gos Velen along with horse-drawn carriages and ox carts, heading outward.

In the shadow beneath the hood brim, Lann glanced at the coast beside the bridge.

The weather in Velen today was relatively stable, with no clouds or strong winds blowing off the sea, which seemed unlikely to rain.

This was actually quite fortunate.

The area around Airetusa was paved with stone bricks or large stones, making it easier to clean up the livestock dung and dirt left by merchant vehicles.

Once across the bridge and stepping onto the muddy ground within Gos Velen city limits.

The horse and cow dung would get trampled frequently into the earth, mixing and forming new soil.

Most streets in Gos Velen were earthen, and due to Velen Region’s wet, coastal, and unpredictable weather, mud was present everywhere.

The town hall had to lay many wooden boards on the roads to ensure the smooth flow of goods-laden vehicles, the ’blood’ that kept the city active.

Preventing wheel blockages from forming ’blood clots’ in mud.

However, what road could withstand frequent heavy traffic?

The boards quickly became shredded or crushed out of alignment, becoming scattered.

Beneath the boards were ankle-deep muddy waste and trash.

In this regard, the urban infrastructure in Yan’an and Losric was indeed impressive.

Gently nudging aside a donkey blocking the path, Lann squeezed past a cart loaded with tanned hides, finally navigating through the most congested main bridge.
