Bear School Astartes

Regarding Lann’s strength, even though Maria has never faced him directly, she feels like she has some idea deep down.

But witnessing Lann battling Gremman, whose body is already emanating a cyan flame, for such a long time, and seeing that neither of them seems affected, Maria was genuinely shocked.

However, this shock only lingered in the female hunter’s heart for a brief moment before she became indifferent.

From the moment she arrived, she already didn’t care much about anything.

Even when she saw the doll made in her likeness standing alive before her, she just walked away expressionless.

What’s there to be surprised about?

Thus, it can be said it was an unspoken understanding, an understanding of the battle situation, or perhaps Maria simply didn’t care about her own life or death anymore.

In short, at the moment the three simultaneously activated the , Maria and Lann exchanged no words as she directly charged at her former mentor.

The old hunter who developed the and his student whom he taught single-handedly, ’dead in the past’, began a merciless exchange of blades.

The Yan Nan Hunters rarely use swords; they always use swift dodges to avoid enemy attacks, and after the enemy’s strike misses, they flash back to deliver a ruthless blow with their transformable weapons.

So when Gremman and Maria started to slash at each other, those blood-red, gigantic blade remnants and cyan flaming silhouettes intertwined back and forth, light and shadow fiercely shifting.

Yet it remained silent.

No sound of blades piercing flesh to spill blood, nor the crisp clatter of blades clashing.

Only the wind stirred by their swift dodges, rustling endlessly.

This sea of flowers is strangely such that regardless of destruction, it does not linger long.

It slowly restores to the appearance Lann first saw.

Among the highly outstanding Yan Nan Hunters, they entangled each other to thrust weapons into each other’s chest, or use the scythe to slice the person into two from the waist down.

Cyan and blood-red flames swiftly plowed hideous marks in the flower sea, constantly moving.

Outside of their entanglement, Lann followed slightly behind, roaming.

Those amber cat eyes enhanced by , tracked everything unfolding before him with heightened reaction speed.

Maria and Lann’s cooperation intent was clear.

As Gremman’s student, Maria would try her utmost to use her speed to entangle the old hunter, attempting to slow down his pace.

Meanwhile, Lann on the perimeter needed to seize the right moment, and was ready to intervene and attack accurately and lethally at any time.

Maria’s swordsmanship was as graceful as a dance.

She stood poised; during most blade movements, she did not twist her waist or hips, activate core muscle group like ordinary swordsmanship.

Instead, she elegantly simply waved her hand.

This movement doesn’t exert much force; however, her pair of [Falling Leaves] twin blades weren’t meant for hacking people with force anyway.

The flames ignited by her high-quality blood were the main source of lethal power from the twin blades.

This kind of swordsmanship could make swings more unexpected and faster.

Yet... these techniques were still taught by Gremman.

”Whoo~”

The flames exploded in the air with a whooshing sound.

The long, sinister fiery blade left a burning, expanding fan shape in mid-air.

Yet the old hunter’s prosthetic limb had long since touched the ground; with a swift side step, he narrowly missed the blade and expanding flames.

The scythe turned, extending forward.

The scythe blade aimed downward hung long shaft, passed Maria’s waist, reached behind her, then Gremman flipped his wrist.

A sharp ’click,’ and the originally gravity-hanging scythe blade was flipped flat in a wrist twist!

Next, the [Funeral Blade] would pull back... such clashes, in their swift battle state, happened no less than twenty times in a short while!

In every previous instance, Gremman held the advantage, but at the final moment of success, he would often be targeted by the highly focused, directional killing intent of the Demon Hunter, allowing Maria to find a gap, to escape and counterattack.

But this time... it wasn’t just the ethereal killing intent exerting pressure across the void.

”Bang Bang Bang!”

Suddenly, three muffled sounds distinct from Yan’an’s native firearms emerged amidst the urgent wind!

The old hunter didn’t think twice, immediately abandoning the next moment’s motion to withdraw the scythe, snapping Maria’s waist, bisecting her movement!

The scythe wielded by Gremman spun like a lunar crescent!

”Swish Swish Swish!”

Corresponding to the muffled sounds were three, the swift moving thin metal slicing through the flying bullets, urgent and sharp.

Three conventional rounds fired by the [Roar of the Roaring Dragon] heavy crossbow cannons were neatly split into halves around Gremman’s body.

Even the trailing flames from the flying ammunition were cleaved by the rapid swinging scythe.

Speed is power.

And at this moment, firing three precise consecutive shots, Lann.

He resembled a standard Yan Han Hunter with a firearm in his left hand and a cold weapon for close combat in the right.

Except this firearm was akin to a ’cannon’ in a regular person’s eyes, and the tiger-like patterns on it made it appear even more fierce.

While on his melee weapon, an unusually calm bluish-purple flame burned brightly.

’Without your speed to entangle me, then there’s much more I can do.’

In a fleeting eye contact, Gremman understood the young outsider’s intentions before him.

Strange means learned through traveling strange worlds.

The power of Lann was built up by himself during his journey, a solid tower painstakingly constructed brick by brick.

’Perhaps... it’s coming to an end.’

In that instant, Gremman suddenly understood.

The outcome of a battle often reveals itself halfway through, and the remaining time is usually driven by an unwillingness to give up and a desperate desire for survival that pushes one to struggle and resist.

Compared to the Demon Hunter who has traversed many worlds, the methods of the Yan Nan Hunter seem simplistic.

Previously, without interference, Gremman could use his overwhelming speed advantage to prevent Lann from having any time to use his skills.

But now...

”Hoo~”

The Long Blade, wreathed in blood-red flames, cut through the air as it came slashing down!

Gremman was indeed faster than Maria, and his skills were more seasoned and refined.

Yet just a moment ago, he had only managed to slice through the three standard rounds fired by Lann’s [Roar of the Roaring Dragon].

The New Continent Expedition Team’s sturdy materials used in hunting weapons and their excellent biological material properties made his scythe-wielding arm stiffen slightly.

However, in this battle of speed, it’s often just that ’moment’ that is needed.

The slashing [Falling Leaves] Long Blade, even though Gremman tried to use his speed to displace himself, the wooden prosthetic leg still got singed in the blood-red flames.

When he adjusted his balance again, placing the prosthetic limb on the ground, after a slight ’crack’ sound, the charred part broke off crisply.

The prosthetic limb suddenly shortened, something that with Gremman’s extraordinary regenerative ability, he would have previously hardly felt and would have recovered from almost instantly.

But now, not only had he expended a lot in the tussle with Lann, moreover, this piece was ’burned’ off, making it much harder to recover.

Thus, the sudden length disparity between his two legs caused Gremman to stagger imperceptibly.

And at that very moment...

[Roar of the Roaring Dragon] was directly hooked onto Lann’s back.

When the second phase leader of the New Continent Expedition Team was involved in crafting this armor, they habitually included the weapon hook position common to the expedition team.

Immediately, Lann appeared in front of the slightly staggering Gremman in an instant.

And the quietly burning blue-purple flame of Aron Dite... it wasn’t swung.

Contrarily, it was sheathed.

The sheath, originally hanging at Lann’s waist, was brought before him.

The last small section of the blade still exposed was pushed back into the sheath with a light ’click’ after a spring snapped into place.

It was only at this point that the airflow created by Lann’s rapid movement swept past him from behind, making a rushing wind sound.

However, the wind sound couldn’t even approach Lann’s rear position, it seemed like it was suppressed by some invisible field and dissipated.

The air pressure seemed frozen in an instant.

Even the blood-red flames on Maria’s blade were suppressed to a thin layer on the blade itself, greatly reduced.

The Old Hunter, poised with a hunched stance ready to shift quickly, suddenly halted.

The air was suddenly filled with many luminous blue-purple scale powders, fluttering like fireflies.

But unlike mere fireflies which only emit light, these scales... they shone because they were so hot that they appeared radiant due to thermal radiation!

The resplendent scales gathered, twisted in the air with the air flow, gradually outlining the true shape of the high-pressure air in the area.

[Water-shaped Sword · Yixin]!

”Ssss!!!” *N

Countless sharp Qi Flow Blades suddenly appeared in the air!

Crisscrossing thin knife scars surrounded Gremman’s frozen form.

The luminous blue-purple scales ignited, following the knife scars like gasoline meeting a spark, erupting with a sudden ’boom’ blast and flaring up!

Turning those originally thin and white air pressure Qi Blades instantly into blue-purple flames!

Enchantingly bizarre!

[Flame of the Flame Empress Dragon]!

The female Sun Flame Dragon, more adhesive and smoldering compared to the male’s fiery aggression.

Simply put: burning to the bone, deep into the marrow!

These flames spread along the knife scars with high efficiency onto the Old Hunter’s body.

And strangely enough, lacked the usual flame’s eagerness to spread.

On the contrary, they persistently burrowed deeper, burning further inside!

The burns weren’t large open sores, but deep cavities from corrosion!

When these flames followed the air grooves to the countless wounds suddenly appearing on Gremman’s body, penetrating internally, it became a matter of time and facing a desperate counterattack.

[Flame of the Flame Empress Dragon]’s adhesive and smoldering properties would consume Gremman’s unique regenerative ability continuously.

That’s also why Lann chose this particular flame upon seeing the effect.

In terms of sustained exhaustion, it was too fitting.

But just as Lann felt he had successfully injected a vast amount of [Flame of the Flame Empress Dragon] into Gremman’s body, he stepped back, holding his breath and focusing to prepare for the Old Hunter’s impending last few desperate counterattacks...

Gremman lowered his head in somewhat surprised realization of his body ablaze internally and full of blade marks.

Then, under the brim of his hat, his mouth gently smiled as if awakening from a long trance.

Lann was astonished to find he seemed to have suddenly lost the regenerative power that had not been depleted to its limit.

Opening his mouth, Gremman’s mouth, scorched to emit hot white mist, gasped painfully.

But he opened his mouth in pain only to utter a single phrase.

”Maria...”

”Run quickly!”
