Bear School Astartes

In the end, Lann used the excuse of ’temporary truce’ to bring back the woolball who was tidying up its little bundle alone at the secret hideout during dinner.

The little cat looked around as it lay on Lann’s shoulder, walking into Airetusa Academy.

Woolball had lived in the New World since childhood, and the most decorative places it had been to were Star Base.

However, the Star Base built in a utilitarian and rough style by hunters, in terms of refinement, luxury, comfort, is no match for the Warlocks’ academy.

This group of people with high social status, substantial income, and a penchant for hedonism built the highest institution that is unrivaled in decadence and luxury.

Watching the scene, Woolball slightly tucked its head timidly.

By the time Lann picked an empty corridor and walked to the dining room, the little cat was even more nervous.

On the long table in the room, exquisite gold and silver cutlery glittered ambiguously under the candlelight.

Even the carvings on the rosewood chairs were detailed enough to depict the beard of figures.

The meticulously plated food on the plates was something never seen during large feasts in the New World.

Woolball was placed on a small chair by Lann, and it couldn’t help but let out a low ’meow’.

But Lann sat beside it, reaching out to pat its little head.

”Don’t be frightened, these things are just for show.”

Lann said with an unconcerned smile.

”Try it and you’ll know.”

The main dish was sea-braised seven-star eel, Lann served a bowl for Woolball, and the little cat tentatively stuck out its tongue for a lick, then looked puzzled.

”Seems like... the taste, it’s not. It feels bland, meow?”

”That’s how it is.” Lann shrugged, slinging an arm over the back of the chair casually.

”The taste is well-handled by the chef, but the vitality of this sea fish, how to put it... is less than a specialty mushroom from the ancient forest, that’s why your body ’feels’ bland.”

”A herbivore dragon common in the New World if brought here would basically cost more than this room.”

”So in theory, those carriages made with piles of monster materials at Star Base look like luxury items to people here.”

”It’s just that what’s considered valuable differs, nothing to feel uneasy about.”

Woolball nodded thoughtfully: ”Now I understand, meow.”

The little cat is always carefree, so it tossed away the initial tension and started to relax and eat and drink like it did in the New World.

And once Woolball relaxed, Lann straightened up, directing his gaze to the other side of the dining table.

”Looks like you’ve recovered well?”

”Thanks to you for bringing me here promptly, and for your development of new technology.”

The voice carried mature woman’s allure, yet with youthful vigor.

Triss Merigold was sitting opposite Lann.

All traces of her past disheveled state from before Lann’s last departure had vanished entirely.

The skin severely burned had been perfectly restored through the graft surgery.

Since the crystal cultivation technique used her own cellular tissues, the cultivated skin showed no signs of rejection.

The magic spirit medicine and technology ensured that no surgical scars were left on her body.

At this moment, she was ’generously’ wearing a low-cut peacock-colored silk evening gown.

The exposed skin from the neckline was fine and smooth.

Her signature wine-red hair under the candlelight appeared a vibrant flame red.

Yet even more passionate than her fiery hair were... those eyes staring straight at Lann.

The Demon Hunter felt the woman’s gaze was somewhat different from before... it seemed overly aggressive.

With a ”creak,” Lann turned to look at the spot next to him.

Such crude sounds of chair rubbing against the floor were theoretically inappropriate for this dining environment.

But if the sound comes from the current headmistress of the academy, what else could he say?

Margaret adjusted her sitting posture with a half-smile, leaning forward, gazing at Triss with an overall ’oppressive’ manner.

”So, you’ve been tending to that little flesh wound for months now, Triss. Yennefer adapted to her new eyes two months ago and returned to Yaden.”

”The aftermath of the war is surely troubling your King now, Veltrest can’t be without his Magic Consultant at this moment, especially not the ’Fourteenth on the Hill’.”

”Indeed.” Triss rebuffed Margaret’s words without moving an inch.

”But Veltrest recently had Keira notify me, due to my being the ’Fourteenth on the Hill’, having achieved remarkable contributions and renown. Now this reputation is even more significant than the duty as Magic Consultant.”

”He told me to properly rest at my alma mater.”

Even though her tone was still enchanting and lively, sweet.

Yet since she repeated the nickname from Margaret with emphasis and uttered the latter sentence nearly word by word.

Lann still sensed the undertone of ’retort’.

Triss’ sapphire blue eyes reluctantly moved away from the Lann across the table, then squinted at Margaret.

Very well.

Lann now felt he was numb.

He had just comforted the slightly nervous Woolball, but now it was his turn to feel uneasy.

The Son of the Emperor’s acute emotional sensing made him yearn to retreat to his secret cave and gnaw on black bread in a corner.

For a long time, Margaret’s relaxed and sweet demeanor around him made Lann somewhat forget–

’A strong enough to be fierce character’, is the common impression of these pioneering Female Warlocks.

These women vie for what they want or deserve, unlike ordinary medieval women.

”Ah, Tishaya. I just saw someone repairing that stone bridge on the upper level of Airetusa.”

Lann, in this frazzling atmosphere, reached out to Tishaya who was meticulously cutting veal, attempting to change the subject.

That stone bridge ought to have been laid with interwoven black and white marble, like a chessboard with an alternating arrangement.

Previously, although Airetusa was wealthy, funding for projects most Warlocks cared little about was hard to approve.

Therefore, the warlocks covered the sky-high stone bridge riddled with holes with Illusion Technique, only the black squares were safe to stand on, while the appearance remained beautiful.

Unfortunately, the previous headmistress didn’t indulge Lann at all.

”The cash from Valerian Steel Merchants Association is starting to flow back, along with substantial outside investment in the academy during this time, no need to waste it.”

Using clear, concise words, Tishaya concluded the topic while cutting meat with a silver cutlery, raising her eyes to watch the two students on either side of the table.

”Stay quiet now, Lann. I’m appreciating drama.”

”I know you’re uncomfortable, but sorry, you’re also part of the drama now. I really don’t want to spoil this artistic moment.”
